St. Basil's Cathedral, Moscow (Russia) - Travel Guide
Take a tour of St. Basil's Cathedral in Moscow, Russian Federation -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.
It looks more like a cluster of brightly colored hot air balloons than a cathedral.
This is St. Basil's, or the Cathedral of the Intercession of the Virgin By the Moat.
This flamboyantly shaped and colored building is one of Russia's most important churches.
The cathedral was started in 1555 as eight chapels built around a larger ninth.
There have been several theories about the design of St. Basil's, but no certain answers.
The cathedral has had several additions, and the whole church narrowly escaped destruction under Stalin.
St. Basil's is no longer a church, it now operates as a museum.

Russia - St Petersburg in need of renovation

Russia's second city, St Petersburg, is hoping for a huge cash
handout to restore its architectural beauty when President Boris
Yeltsin visits on Friday (6/6).
The startling facades of St Petersburg, the capital of Russia
until the revolution in 1917, are in need of urgent care and
restoration, but many in the city feel it has been neglected
compared to Moscow.

you will help me because you are kind. I have about 300 US dollars yet and I think
I need about 980 US dollars from your side with all travel needs and living here till my
flight! (I had 1180 dollars, but flight from Irkutsk, opening visa, medical
insurance and all travel needs costed about 800 dollars).
For truth I did not expect I will need to buy roundtrip tickets, but now
I see that its a very strict rule.
Hello!!! How are you? Today I had a wonderful dream, that we
finally meet, I feel myself like the happiest girl in the world!!!
Something amazing occurs inside of me after I have received your first letter!
My heart lost calm since then. But it's interesting that it doesn't want to find it again!
Every my cell shouts about how it wants to love you.
My sun, you know perhaps, but I'll tell you that you are the clearest man in the world.
Today I was in a travel agency, all my documents are ready.
Now they are checking a possible flight to your airport.
They will give me all information (date and time of my arrival, etc.) tomorrow I think. Now I will continue to see St.Petersburg,
like a tourist. In St.Petersburg there are so many different museums!
In St.Petersburg its rather hot weather,
about +21`C, but I feel myself so alone. :-)
Everyone rush somewhere and I don`t know anybody here.
I will go to A.S.Pushkin museum!!!!!!
It should be really amazing!!! Ok, I send you a thousand kisses and will wait for your
message!!!!
Yours Evgeniya
Tyumen
Tyumen is the largest city and the administrative center of Tyumen Oblast, Russia, located on the Tura River 2,500 kilometers east of Moscow.
Tyumen was the first Russian settlement in Siberia. Founded in 1586 to support Russia's eastward expansion, the city has remained one of the most important industrial and economic centers east of the Ural Mountains. Located at the junction of several important trade routes and with easy access to navigable waterways, Tyumen rapidly developed from a small military settlement to a large commercial and industrial city. The central part of Old Tyumen retains many historic buildings from throughout the city's history.

Nikolay Peristov. The Expedition for Prehistoric Ivory. Ruskiwi.
In 2013 I took part in the Nikolay Peristov's expedition for the fossilised bones of the prehistoric animals. Nikolay Peristov is the one of the most recognised Russian bone carvers. He is the artist, and the custodian of the oldest Siberian Tobolsk Mammoth Ivori Tradition. Nikolai Peristov organised the school for the young carvers at the Siberian Centre of the Traditional Arts, Crafts and Culture. Nikolay Peristov is the internationally recognised paleo- historian. He distingvished himself by uncovering the remains of the oldest ancestor of Euro-Asian Homo Sapiens, the Ust-Ishim Man. Ust-Ishim Man was the hanter-gatherer of the Western Siberian planes and forests over 45000 years ago. Nikolay Peristov does his expeditions for over 30 years. His expeditions include archeologists, paleontologists and antropologists. All the material he gets from his expeditios is studied and classified by the specialists. Some bones of the prehistoric animals will be exposed in local museums, some would become DNA material for the further scientific research, some will end up in Peristov's studious as the art-subjects which represent the anscient Siderian craftmanship. SUMMARY
=======
Moscow (; Russian: Москва́, tr. Moskvá, IPA: [mɐˈskva] (listen)) is the capital and most populous city of Russia, with 13.2 million residents within the city limits and 17 million within the urban area. Moscow is one of Russia's federal cities.
Moscow is a major political, economic, cultural, and scientific centre of Russia and Eastern Europe, as well as the largest city (both by population and by area) entirely on the European continent. By broader definitions Moscow is among the world's largest cities, being the 14th largest metro area, the 18th largest agglomeration, the 14th largest urban area, and the 11th largest by population within city limits worldwide. According to Forbes 2013, Moscow has been ranked as the ninth most expensive city in the world by Mercer and has one of the world's largest urban economies, being ranked as an alpha global city according to the Globalization and World Cities Research Network, and is also one of the fastest growing tourist destinations in the world according to the MasterCard Global Destination Cities Index.
Moscow is the northernmost and coldest megacity and metropolis on Earth. It is home to the Ostankino Tower, the tallest free standing structure in Europe; the Federation Tower, the second-tallest skyscraper in Europe; and the Moscow International Business Center. By its territorial expansion on July 1 2012 southwest into the Moscow Oblast, the area of the capital more than doubled, going from 1,091 to 2,511 square kilometers (421 to 970 sq mi), resulting in Moscow becoming the largest city on the European continent by area; it also gained an additional population of 233,000 people.Moscow is situated on the Moskva River in the Central Federal District of European Russia, making it Europe's most populated inland city. The city is well known for its architecture, particularly its historic buildings such as Saint Basil's Cathedral with its colourful architectural style. With over 40 percent of its territory covered by greenery, it is one of the greenest capitals and major cities in Europe and the world, having the largest forest in an urban area within its borders—more than any other major city—even before its expansion in 2012.
The city has served as the capital of a progression of states, from the medieval Grand Duchy of Moscow and the subsequent Tsardom of Russia to the Russian Empire to the Soviet Union and the contemporary Russian Federation.
Moscow is the seat of power of the Government of Russia, being the site of the Moscow Kremlin, a medieval city-fortress that is today the residence for work of the President of Russia. The Moscow Kremlin and Red Square are also one of several World Heritage Sites in the city. Both chambers of the Russian parliament (the State Duma and the Federation Council) also sit in the city. Moscow is considered the centre of Russian culture, having served as the home of Russian artists, scientists and sports figures and because of the presence of museums, academic and political institutions and theatres.
The city is served by a transit network, which includes four international airports, nine railway terminals, numerous trams, a monorail system and one of the deepest underground rapid transit systems in the world, the Moscow Metro, the fourth-largest in the world and largest outside Asia in terms of passenger numbers, and the busiest in Europe. It is recognised as one of the city's landmarks due to the rich architecture of its 200 stations.Moscow has acquired a number of epithets, most referring to its size and preeminent status within the nation: The Third Rome (Третий Рим), the Whitestone One (Белокаменная), the First Throne (Первопрестольная), the Forty Soroks (Сорок Сороков) (sorok meaning both forty, a great many and a district or parish in Old Russian).

T-62
The T-62 is a Soviet main battle tank, a further development of the T-55. Its 115 mm gun was the first smoothbore tank gun in use.
The T-62 was produced between 1961 and 1975. It became a standard tank in the Soviet arsenal, partly replacing the T-55, although that tank continued to be manufactured in the Soviet Union and elsewhere after T-62 production was halted. The T-62 was later replaced in front-line service by the T-72.
