As one of Frankfurts great Opera houses Oper Franfurt is a building that is quite modern and to be honest a little drab to some of the grand opera houses I have seen in the likes of Prague, Paris, Berlin, Budapest and Rome.
Central and on tram lines. Always depends on your taste as to what's on so check in advance. Nice restaurant with views of the street. Always many different events and shows and building boring, but central. Take a walk downtown or along the nice park next to it
One of the best Opera Houses I know when it comes to innovative staging/production. I am always surprised aboout the quality of the singers, not all those well know stars but incredible young voices and artists you haven't heard that much before.

The Video was shot 4 days after the big demo on October 15th. Still a lot of people in tents and on the street in front of the European Central Bank.
At 3:17 you see the police cordon around the 'Alte Oper' where the farewell of Jaude-Claude Trichet, President of the European Central Bank took place.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, European Parliament President Jerzy Buzek, former German chancellor Helmut Schmidt, Eurogroup chief Jean-Claude Juncker, European Council chief Herman Van Rompuy, EU Commission head Jose Manuel Barroso and many more.
