Sega Orbi Yokohama for Kids - Petting Chicks ????, Hedgehog ????, Capybaras, Armadillo & more!
We spent 5 days in Yokohama with kids and one of our highlights of this family trip was the Sega Orbi on the 5th floor of Mark IS.

A super family fun place to spend the day in Yokohama for kids to make lots of memories. Amalin and Brody especially loved petting chicks ????????????????! There were about 100 little chicks to pick up and feed. It was really cute! Also you could hold and pet a hedge hog. And in the Animal garden we got to pet, feed and have super close in encounters with big Capybaras, Armadillo, Turtles and many more animals.
There are different rooms to experience this. The chicks and hedgehog were in the Animal studio. And the Capibara, Armadillo & more was in the Animal Garden. Both have lines to wait in and each experience lasts for 15 mins. We waited 20 mins for the Animal garden. And 45 mins for the Animal studio. We also did the Cat room, but it was a 75 min wait and I don’t think it was worth it.
There are other activities to do and see with no wait times, but these in the video were our highlights.

Family Fun Day in Yokohama Japan with Kids - Cup Noodles Museum, Cosmo Ferris Wheel, KiddOKidd 2019
My husband was working all day, so it was just me, my 2 toddlers and our stroller in Yokohama.

My kids had a blast and here is our easy and walkable 3 hour itinerary in 2019 that our kids will remember forever...especially since I made this video for them :)
Luckily we visit Yokohama Japan every year. It is a fun filled city with great family friendly activities! Yokohama is one of our favorite places to visit and our children LOVE this city.
What to do in Yokohama with Kids? Here's our Family fun Itinerary for kids:
1. 10:30am - CupNoodles (Cup O' Noodles) Museum & Factory. Fun educational interactive activities that your kids will love. Don't forgot to book you MyCupNoodles Factory reservation when you arrive and you get to make your very own custom CupNoodles ramen to eat later. Entrance fee is 500yen ($4.50) for adults. My 4 & 2 year olds were free. MyCupNoodles factory fee is 300 yen each ($2.50) and only allowed 1 per person. (They open at 10am, so if you are able to go at opening, that is best as is gets REALLY busy.)
2. 12:00pm - Yokohama Cosmo Clock FerrisWheel. 15 minute Ferris Wheel ride with beautiful views of Yokohama and Carnival games & arcade below. Great on a nice day and amazing if you ride it at night when it lights up at night.
3. 12:30pm - MARK IS shopping building. It is a 5-10 minute walk from the Yokohama ferris wheel. The 3rd floor is the KIDS floor which has great kids clothes to browse and shop. There you will find Kidd-O-Kidd Bornelund indoor playroom. And also there is a huge Toys R Us / Babies R Us on that level! YES...Toys R Us is still open in JAPAN!!!
4. On another day, we visited the 5th floor of the MARK IS which is SEGA ORBI! This place is great for kids with animal interactive & fun educational activities. This is at least a 2 -3 hour activity with a lot of waiting in lines, so go early. Even weekdays are busy.

For all activities in Japan, It's best to do on a weekday (if possible) as Yokohama attractions get very crowded.

ORBI YOKOHAMA
A highly digital, 3D, interactive, and immersive experience for a bond between nature and metropolis. A stepping stone you can say to leave your fears behind before venturing out in to the wild ;)
Building on an already existing trend in tokyo this park exposes city dwellers to animals but in a animal-friendly informative and sanitary way making it a spot where kids and adults can have good clean fun.
ANIMAL GARDEN
The ‘Animal Garden’ is a jungle themed attraction with some exotic animals that you would probably never come across in everyday life.
All of these animals are within arms reach to feed, hold and interact safe in the knowledge they are being well-treated and kept in large open spaces as many places in Tokyo unfortunately do not do.
ANIMAL STUDIO
There is also the 'Animal Studio' on the second floor of this park. I will show this at the end of this video but, the animals are a little more introductory compared to the ones on the first floor.
If interaction with animals are what you are looking to do then the animal garden and animal studio both conveniently located near the entrance may be your first attraction to visit.
MEGA BUG
A themed kids playground with equipment to experience the world of a bug.
Geometrical displays of projection mapped jungles and natural scenery in a very spacious center area to relax and breathe in the atmosphere.
A 3D movie in POV taking you through the Congo to look for some silverbacks Out on the floor there was a pretty cool geometrical replication of a gorilla and some representations of the differences of human and gorilla bones / even an aromatic experience to see what a gorilla smells like.
Interactive screens with augmented reality mocap and live visuals that make you look like an elk or a moose.
There were rooms that took temperatures down to -20 degrees centigrade in wind chill factor to immerse you in a climate similar to those found up on some mountains in Africa.

23.4 THEATER
We didn’t get around to the 23.4 theater, but the theater boasts the largest screen in japan with a timetable running every hour screening 3 different kinds of movies
The park is open from 10 AM to 9PM on weekdays and opens an hour earlier on weekends and public holidays.
So, you have a whole lot of time to make a quick visit while prioritizing other places to go in Yokohama.
It sounds like a lot, but 2-3 hours should be plenty.
All in all.
SURPRISE FACTOR: Thumbs UP
TODDLER INTEREST GRAB: 10 out of 10
OVERALL: 8 out of 10
(considering the innovative nature of the park the barrier free nature, and ultra modern building that encapsulates it offers places to shop and an excellent selection of restaurants to dine)
(Services in your native language are minimal but most things are straightforward so a non event)
Although Orbi did have a place to snack the right choice would be to leave and dine at one of the many restaurants in the mall or outside to enjoy some of what Yokohama has to offer.
It was only about a 30 minute drive from Tokyo, or an hour by train, depending on where you live or stay.
A little far from Tokyo but Minato-Mirai in Yokohama is full of its own surprises with its proximity to China Town and a bunch of other entertainment and historical locations including the Cup Noodle Museum, Ramen Museum, Red Brick Warehouse, Sankeien Japanese Garden, a very popular hot spring and myriads of museums related to Yokohama as a port city with a lot of history.
