Banyuwangi – Time can change, Culture still remain. Kemiren Countryside, Glagah District, Banyuwangi Sub-Province is the one that still exist by its tradition until present time.
Banyuwangi cultural heritage still remain by the existing of Kemiren Village as one of tourism object nowadays. The people and the government are together maintaining the tourism as a genuinely tourism object to show the particular things which arose from the old Banyuwangi till present time.
The culture itself is stand still with its genuine parts, like the everlasting history which still remain by the time changes. For instance, the houses around Kemiren village are charmingly stand with its unique architecture of Gebyuk and the tradition inside the house.
Nevertheless, between the tradition and modernization is also being particularly unite as shows in farming method. The farmers nowadays are effectively using the modern ways to to their lands, in order to practice the result and also to get the quality of the harvest.
Another custom which still remain is the way of Wedding Ceremony. Banyuwangi people is still face into traditional marriage with serial of actions to do before the day of the bride and the groom is meet and being legalize as husband and wife. For example, the first step from wedding day is start by doing Lamaran Manten or marriage proposal. On Lamaran Manten, the groom and the family attending the bride’s house to propose the women while bringing the Seserahan or kind of Gift to bride’s family. After the Seserahan has taken by the bride’s family, those are choosing the right date to go to the wedding day.
American have their own Thanksgiving Day, but on Kemiren Village is also has its own Thanksgiving day to say grateful to God for the harvest and peace. On the day, the inhabitant are gathering on one place by bringing Tumpeng. Tumpeng is one of Indonesian traditional food which made of yellow rice inside and it has conical form on it. The inhabitant made thousand of Tumpeng or it calls as Tumpeng Sewu. Hence, Banyuwangi’s Thanksgiving is being called as Tumpeng Sewu ceremony.

Kampung Osing Inn is a family-run and owned budget guesthouse that provides basic private double and standard rooms. It is located only five minutes drive from Karangasem Train Station and tweety minutes from Brawijaya Bus Station. In addition to providing free wifi, breakfast and pickup/drop off, it also offers custom tours to Ijen. The common areas includes front outdoor patio, in door lounge, a kitchen, and mini-library. The guest has the opportunity to explore local villages without tourist and feel the real ways of Indonesian life in East Java.

There was silence as he entered the ambush area Wana Wisata Rawa Bayu. The area of the lake about 50 meters in diameter was confined to dense forest and filled with various trees. the atmosphere in the Rowo Bayu like candikala late afternoon or early evening.
Breeze brought the rush of water from the foot of the mountain feel cold bone-chilling.some creepy sculptures as if appear from behind a small tree. Yes, This is Rowo Bayu in the Bayu Village, Songgon district, Banyuwangi regency, is very quiet and eerie.
This lake save a history of Blambangan kingdom was full of tears and drops of blood. In one corner at the edge of the lake was there petilasan King of Blambangan namely Tawang Alun King ruling in 1652 AD to 1691 AD. Tawang Alun King's do meditation ritual in the swamp area to contemplate the death of his younger brother namely Mas Wilobroto, who fight against him
Now there are also visitors who meditated in petilasan of Tawang Alun King's. Among them are some who claim to be descendants or relatives of King Tawang Alun after the kingdom was destroyed, many relatives or his troops is disorganized. There are rush go to Bali, but there are also hiding in the forests in Banyuwangi. Usually the hermits came during a full moon and new moon (tilem)
In the lake rowo bayu, there are three springs namely Sendang Keputren, Wigonggo, and Sendang Kamulyan. spring water was housed in a small pond or sendang. water of Bayu swamp also comes from a layer of stones in the surrounding
Rowo Bayu are not just tourist attractions and meditation. Here can be used for teaching history because a lot of historical evidence and here can be used for teaching biology because it can be used as a medium of biodiversity, lake ecosystems, forest ecosystems and so on
At the Dutch colonial period in the 18th century, the Dutch troops on an expedition to conquer the Blambangan kingdom. in the village of Bayu and surrounding is a location of a great war between the forces Blambangan led by Mas Rempeg Jogopati with the Dutch army. Fight to the death is called Puputan Bayu Peak of the war occurred on December 18, 1771 which was marked by the death of Mas Rempeg Jogopati.
But the war did not stop, after Mas Rempeg Jagapati died, appears a female warlord named Mas Ayu Wiwit or known as Sayu Wiwit. This war is recognized of Dutch as the most cruel wars and spend cost worth 8 tons of gold. As a result of the war, there was a genocide against the people of Blambangan or people of Osing. from originally numbered 80,000 people, only left 8,000 people.
Now every December 18 is celebrated as the anniversary of the city of Banyuwangi

Jakarta, 1 Februari 2018 -- Menteri Pariwisata secara resmi meluncurkan Banyuwangi Indonesia Festival 2018, Top 77 Events, di Balairung Soesilo Soedarman Kementerian Pariwisata.
Menpar mengapresiasi Banyuwangi yang menerima Penghargaan ASEAN Clean Tourist City, menambahi Bupati Banyuwangi yang menyatakan telah mendapatkan Nilai Akuntabilitas Kinerja, satu-satunya Kabupaten yang nilai-nya A, mendapat reward DID (Dana Insentif Daerah) sebesar 8,7 M.
Menpar juga mendeklarasikan Banyuwangi sebagai Kota Festival Terbaik Nasional. Untuk3A Banyuwangi, Menpar tidak khawatir, Atraksinya kuat: 77 Events, tiga events masuk CoE Nasional; 2 events masuk Top 100 Events (Tour de Ijen dan Gandrung Sewu), 1 Event Top-10 (BEC)
Untuk Aksesibilitas: Usulan kepada Kemenhub agar bandara Banyuwangi dijadikan sebagai Bandara Internasional untuk mem-back up Bandara Ngurah Rai Bali, belajar dari pengalaman Erupsi Gunung Agung. Operasional Bandara Blimbingsari diserahkan ke Angkasa Pura II agar lebih business oriented.
Untuk Amenitas, Menpar sudah meresmikan 3 Hotel Berbintang: El Royale, Grand Harvest Resort, Sahid Osing Kemiren Resort. Menpar berharap homestay berkembang lebih banyak.
