Oslo Harbour Promenade
The harbour promenade is one of the key elements of Fjordbyen, Oslo's major urban development project of the early 21st century. White Arkitekter was commissioned to describe the way Oslo's harbour promenade (9 km in length) should be designed.

EXPLORING OSLO'S spectacular and very beautiful harbour (Norway)
SUBSCRIBE: - The Oslo harbour (Norway). Vic Stefanu, vstefanu@yahoo.com. Oslo, the capital of Norway, sits on the country’s southern coast at the head of the Oslofjord. It’s known for its green spaces and museums. Many of these are on the Bygdøy Peninsula, including the waterside Norwegian Maritime Museum and the Viking Ship Museum, with Viking ships from the 9th century. The Holmenkollbakken is a ski-jumping hill with panoramic views of the fjord. It also has a ski museum.
Norway is a Scandinavian country encompassing mountains, glaciers and deep coastal fjords. Oslo, the capital, is a city of green spaces and museums. Preserved 9th-century Viking ships are displayed at Oslo’s Viking Ship Museum. Bergen, with colorful wooden houses, is the starting point for cruises to the dramatic Sognefjord. Norway is also known for fishing, hiking and skiing, notably at Lillehammer’s Olympic resort
English: Sørenga Harbor Pool, Oslo, Norway
The Sørenga Harbor Pool is an exciting component of a new, outdoor public recreation area in Oslo. The pool is centrally located in Bjørvika, with a view of the main island, looking inland towards the Opera House and city. The recreation area is comprised of a park, a sandy beach, green plains, ramp accessibility and terraces.
The water park encompasses a large float and surrounding swimming pools, which includes a competition pool, a children’s pool that is accessible for those with disabilities, and one more additional pool located in between the beach and concrete float. The park’s furniture is built into the deck itself as an integral part of the structure. All of the decking is Kebony wood.
Sørenga Harbour Promenade and Water Park was designed by LPO Arkitekter, Kristine Jensen and Aas Jakobsen and built by Byggimpuls AS.

Norway Tourism: Places you SHOULD visit in Oslo
Norway Tourism: Places you SHOULD visit in Oslo
- Holmenkollen
- The Oslo Opera House
- The Royal Palace of Norway
- The City Center
- The Harbour
- Akershus Castle
Be sure to check Holmenkollen out. It houses the world's oldest ski museum- a place that has withheld the skiing tradition for more than a century. A ski jump hill or tower called Holmenkollbakken is yet another wonderful sight to see when visiting Holmenkollen.
The Oslo Opera House, the home of the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet should be a 'must visit' spot if you are planning to tour Oslo. It is a spectacular and unique structure that takes the shape of a flat ice-berg. Since it is located along the edge of Oslofjord (an inlet of seawater) it seems to look like it is emerging from water.
The magnificent view of the Royal Palace of Norway is something you absolutely cannot miss if you are hoping to take a tour of Oslo.
The City Center of Oslo is surrounded by Oslo's best-known buildings and landmarks: Akershus Fortress, the Royal Palace, the City Hall, the Parliament, and the Opera House. It also has an array of shops, cafés and restaurants. Starting your tour of Oslo here would thus be a smart choice ????
Oslo's Harbour is by far one of the greatest tourist attractions of Oslo. It offers you a breathtaking view of the ocean. The newly built Harbour Promenade gives you a combination of sightseeing, history, art, architecture and adventure. It stretches for 9km and takes you through different parts of the city. Taking a tour of Oslo via the Harbour Promenade would also be a different and exciting experience!
Akershus Castle and Fortress is also a spot you would long to check out if you are a lover of history and architecture. It was first used in battle in 1308 and is being used for military purposes to this day ???? These hotspots of Oslo, Norway would give you an idea of the culture and heritage of this wonderful capital. Don't miss out ????

Floating sauna in the Oslo Fjord
Sauna culture is making an urban comeback in Oslo. Floating saunas, saunas on land, and saunas in large barrels. Many of them are conveniently located along the harbour promenade with views to the Oslo Opera House. They are open all year round, which means you don't have to be an ice bather to enjoy them because Norwegian summers are quite warm. Although to be a real sauna champion you have to swim in water chilled with ice cubes.

The harbor in Oslo, Norway. Aker Brygge
At the harbor, I had lunch on a barge. Tasty fish and chips with tarter sauce. There were street vendors, music and food trucks.
I watched some people stroll past in summer clothing eating ice cream. Many sat at sidewalk cafes and enjoyed a glass of wine or a cold beer.
Small boats buzzed by, while the sailors had more time drifting quietly along. Ferries carried passengers to nearby islands and destinations.
My time at Aker Brygge was short today, but well spent. I am so happy summer is finally here.

This place became one of my favourites in Oslo.

The View from Oslo
In Oslo, there’s a concerted effort to make the harborfront a people’s domain. This ambitious urban renewal project, called Fjord City (Fjordbyen) — which kicked off years ago with the Aker Brygge development (now Oslo’s well-established harborside promenade and restaurant row), and proceeded with the construction of the dramatic new Opera House (its white-marble roof famously sloping into the fjord, creating a public plaza that lets you walk on top of the theater) — is making remarkable progress in turning the formerly industrial waterfront into a thriving people zone. This clip gives you a glimpse at a city truly reinventing itself.
