Otodome Falls, Japan
Otodome Falls (音止めの滝 Otodome-no-taki) is a waterfall in Fujinomiya, Shizuoka Prefecture, near Mount Fuji, Japan.
It is part of the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. Another waterfall, the Shiraito Falls is approximately a five-minute walk away.

Shiraito falls: our visit to Shiraito no Taki Waterfalls, Japan
In May 2018 we visited Shiraito falls in Japan, near Mount Fuji, in an area called Fujinomiya.
Shiraito waterfalls' full name is: Shiraito no Taki Waterfalls (in Japanese: 白糸の滝 ), and within the nature park you can also find another waterfall called Otodome no Taki Waterfalls (or Otodome falls / Otodome waterfalls), and a little pool called Obinmizu Pool. These magnificent natural water features are found along part of the Shibakawa River in this beautiful countryside area of Japan. Japanese country at its best! :) The hiking walk to the falls is easy, even if you're not very fit like me! Just a short hike - more of a walk really - down a nature trail. I hope you enjoy this quick tour of Shirato falls from our visit.

The Shiraito Falls (白糸の滝, Shiraito no Taki) are located in the southwestern foothills of Mount Fuji. Ranked among the most beautiful waterfalls in Japan, the 150 meter wide cascade is fed by the volcano's spring water and flows off the edge of a 20 meter high cliff in thin white streams that resemble hanging threads of silk - hence its name. The base of the waterfall is easily accessible from the road via a walking trail in just a few minutes.
Several souvenir shops line the trail that leads down to the falls. Along the way, there are nice views of Otodome Falls, another thundering, 25 meter high column of water. The area is at its best in summer when the waterfalls are flush with the winter snow melt from Mount Fuji and the green foliage is at its fullest, and during the autumn season (usually from mid to late November) when the leaves change.

Shiraito Waterfalls
Shiraito Waterfall (白糸の滝, shiraitonotaki) is in Shizuoka prefecture, located west side of Mt.Fuji. Shiraito Waterfall is about 60ft. height and 600ft. width. There are hundreds of small waterfalls and each of them look like a silk line. Shiraito means Silk thread. Water is coming from the ice of Mt. Fuji. In 1936, this waterfall is chosen a natural monument, and in 1990, it is chosen one of 100 best waterfalls in Japan. There are many gift shop around Shiraito Waterfall. Otodome Waterfall is right next to it.

Access
The buses between Shin-Fuji Station, Fujinomiya Station and the Fuji Five Lakes stop at the Shiraito Falls along the way. The one way trip from Kawaguchiko Station takes about 80 minutes and costs 1730 yen, and from Shin-Fuji Station it take about one hour and cost 1060 yen. However, there are only 3-4 buses per day.
More connections are provided by local buses that operate once or twice per hour between Fujinomiya Station and the Shiraito Falls (30 minutes, 620 yen one way).
In addition, JR Kanto Bus and Fujikyu Bus operate one highway bus per day that travels all the way from Tokyo Station (Yaesu South Exit) to the falls in about three hours and for 2880 yen one way.

► Shiraito no taki (shiraito falls) - located in the mountains, less than 20 minutes drive from Karuizawa Station. Its just about 3 meters tall, but 70 meters wide. Its really a nice place, and I highly recommend it, if you plan on going to Karuizawa or Nagano in general.

富士山のふもと 白糸の滝近くにある音止の滝
説明板より
音止の滝は、「音無の滝」とも呼ばれ、白糸ノ滝と台地を隔てた東側に位置します。
主滝は落差25メートルを流れ落ちる芝川の本流であり、轟音を響かせています。
音止の滝には、次のような曾我兄弟の仇討ちにまつわる伝承があります。曾我兄弟が滝のそばで仇討ちの相談をしていたところ、滝の音が凄まじいので「心無い滝だ」と呟くと、滝の音がぴたりと止まり、相談が終わるとまた元のように轟音を響かせました。無事に相談が出来たので、兄弟は見事仇討ちを果たすことができました。そこで、この滝は「音止の滝」と呼ばれるようになりました。
周辺には、兄弟の敵だる工藤祐経の墓（供養碑）や兄弟が身を潜めた「隠れ砦」など、曾我兄弟の仇討ちにまつわる話も伝わっています。

Actually there are many Shiraito falls in Japan, but Nagano one looks like wider like curtains.
