Romford Greyhound Stadium
I went and saw my first greyhound race at the Coral Greyhound Stadium in Romford, UK.
Unfortunately I only got one chance of recording a race before the cameraman in the box above banged on his window and shouted out that I can't record because I'm stealing his copyright. I didn't even bother arguing over the point of what 'copyright' actually is.
I went to the Lobby and asked the staff if it's true that I can't record and if it's an official rule of the stadium. I wasn't given a clear answer on whether it's an official rule but was told that I'd need to get the cameraman to agree to let me record because he sells recordings of the days races.
I was told that he does allow the odd picture to be taken.
I'm just shooting some footage to share with friends and on Youtube. How could my recordings ever compare with his vantage point, huge camera and steady tripod?
How much kickback does the stadium get on this guys DVD sales vs. the free advertising of letting people take pictures and videos to share on Social media?
