The Owls Head Transportation Museum is a non-profit educational organization. Its Mission is to collect, preserve, exhibit and demonstrate pre-1940 landmark aircraft, ground vehicles, engines and related technologies significant to the evolution of transportation and/or the State of Maine.

See Warren Pietsch fly the Last Samurai (one of only two flying Japanese Zeros left in the world) and the Aleutian Tiger (Curtis P-40K Warhawk). Dan McCue flies the museum's FG-1D Corsair, Whistling Death. What an incredible place the Owls Head Transportation Museum truly is.

The Great Race 2018 Stop at the Owls Head Transportation Museum
This movie shows the mid day stop of the Hemming Motor News Great Race presented by Hagerty, at the Owls Head Transportation Museum on June 27, 2018.
The Great Race is the world premiere old car rally. It brought 120 of the world’s finest antique automobiles to Bangor Waterfront.
In all, the participants in the event will cover more than 2,300 miles in 9 days. The start will be at the Pierce Arrow Museum in Buffalo, NY and will finish in Halifax, NS as part of the city’s Canada Day Celebration. Teams and cars from Japan, England, Germany, Canada, and every corner of the United States will be participating in their vintage automobiles dating back as far as 1913.

This Otto engine, manufactured in Philadelphia, powered a wood working shop on Cumberland Island, Georgia. Nicholas A. Otto produced the first successful gasoline-powered internal-combustion four-cycle engine in 1876. It was based on a principle defined by Beau De Rochas in 1862.

Went to the Owls Head truck and tractor show over this past weekend up in Maine. Met up with Phil there (64gravely) and got to ride 2nd in the tractor parade with his 1970 Commercial 12. Was pretty fun! Sort of a choppy video, there was a lot of stuff to film there.

Lombard Steam Log Hauler Operating at Owls Head Transportation Museum ( Part 1)
This steam powered Lombard log hauler was being operated around the grounds of the Owls Head Transportation Museum during their Winter Transportation Festival on February 21, 2010. The machine was restored by the Harry C. Crooker Const Co. The skis that normally steer the machine have been replaced by wheels because of the lack of snow.
