Chicago Day 3: Oz Park, Lincoln Park, & Massive Double Rainbow!!
Welcome back to day 3!!!
Today we headed to The Lincoln Park Zoo.
Along the way we stopped at Oz Park, fed squirrels, Aubrey dressed up as an anime character (She wore Brad's hair from Chicago Day 1 haha), and saw a beautiful DOUBLE RAINBOW!!
Tomorrow we spent the SUNNY (THANKKKKKK GOODNESS FINALLY) day back at the zoo seeing animals ranging from penguins to polar bears to lions. So stay tuned for that!

My trip to Peacefest gave me a chance to explore Lincoln Park. Even though I've lived here all my life I haven't spent a lot of time in this lakeside gem. The first thing I saw upon entering the park from North Ave. was this gorgeous bronze statue of Lincoln the work of renowed sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens. It sets in this impressive pedastle designed by Stanford White. It was dedicated in 1889,

In this video I discuss I walk through a craft fair in the Portage Park community.
Portage Park is located on the northwest side of the City of Chicago, Illinois and is one of 77 officially designated Chicago community areas. Portage Park is bordered by the community areas of Jefferson Park and Forest Glen to the north, Dunning and the suburb of Harwood Heights to the west, Irving Park to the east and Belmont-Cragin to the south.
The area is notable for its Six Corners outdoor shopping district, centered at the intersection of Irving Park Road, Cicero Avenue and the diagonal Milwaukee Avenue, the Portage Theater and for its namesake

Come along with us as we tour the Chicago History Museum and see some of the interesting past of Chicago. This museum also houses the actual Lincoln Bed from the Peterson house. The Chicago History Museum was founded in 1856 to study and interpret Chicago's history. It is located in Lincoln Park at 1601 North Clark Street at the intersection of North Avenue in the Old Town Triangle neighborhood. The CHS adopted the name, Chicago History Museum, in September 2006 for its public presence. We visited the museum on November 18, 2019.

Route 66, US 66, was part of the Federal Highway network USA. One of the original federal routes, U.S. 66 was established on November 11, 1926, although it was not signaled until the following year. Originally ran from Chicago (Illinois), through Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California, before ending at Los Angeles with a total length of 3,939 km.
Route 66 underwent many improvements and changes in layout, many of them quite affected the length of the road, one of them was moving the end of Los Angeles to Santa Monica. Contrary to popular belief, Route 66 never reached the ocean; in what was just the beginning of U.S. 101, which is today the intersection of Olympic Boulevard and Lincoln Boulevard. He was never at the intersection of Ocean Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard, although it has a dedication plaque of Route 66 as the Will Rogers Highway there.
Route 66 was the main route of the emigrants who went west, especially during dust storms of the 30s, and held the economy of the areas that crossed the road. People who flourished in the growing popularity of the road was the same as years later fought to keep her alive when he began to build the new Interstate Highway Network in the United States.
U.S. 66 (Route 66) was discontinued (ie, officially withdrawn from the road network of the United States) on 27 June 1985 after deciding that the road was no longer relevant and had been replaced by the Network of Interstate Highway USA. Parts of the road running through Illinois, New Mexico and Arizona have been marked with signs Historic Route 66 (Historic Route 66) and has come back on the road maps thus.
