About: This video is about the Golra railway station located east of Taxila. Golra station is 1994 feet above the sea level. Golra Sharif station is also a railway heritage museum site for tourists. The museum consists of old fashioned models of railway like mechanical models, communication tools and signaling system etc. Golra railway station consists of relics and memorabilia associated with railways dating back to British raj. The station was a major route for British during Afghan military campaigns. Golra station is very clean not a rushy area. It is located on southwest of Islamabad. Golra Sharif Railway Museum, also known as Pakistan Railways Heritage Museum, is a railway museum located near the Sector E-11 of Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. It is a junction station in Rawalpindi Division of the Pakistan Railways, located at 1,994 feet above sea level, in the southeast of the Margalla Hills and east of the cradle of Gandhara civilization, the ancient city of Taxila.[1] This railway station is the site of a venerated railway museum housing the relics and memorabilia associated with railways dating back to the days of the British Raj. The railways station with its museum is a major attraction for tourists and locals alike and is becoming a major attraction for railway.
The station was established in 1882 during British rule and upgraded as junction in 1912. It was the logistics artery of British India during the Afghan military campaigns at the turn of the twentieth century. It has since become an important trade route which protrudes into Afghanistan through the famous Khyber Pass.

PAKISTAN NATIONAL MUSEUM OF ETHNOLOGY (HERITAGE MUSEUM) earlier known as Folk Art Museum was established in 1982 with a covered area of around twenty thousand (20,000) square feet. However, in 2004 after the up-gradation and renovation, the Museum was re-named as Pakistan National Museum of Ethnology popularly known as Heritage Museum. The fascinating thing about the Heritage Museum is that it presents history and living traditions of the people of Pakistan both from the main stream and the remotest regions of the country.
The primary purpose of the museum is to educate and edify present and future generations of Pakistan and to create a treasure house for the nation more valuable than the vault of any bank in the world.
Most museum in Pakistan are archaeological which are a throwback from colonial times. The Heritage Museum is the first state museum of ethnology in Pakistan which presents the history and living traditions of the people of Pakistan both from the mainstream and the remotest regions of the country. The location of this landmark achievement at Islamabad enriches the federal capital and adds to its attractions.
The museum has a covered area of 60,000 sq. ft. featuring exhibit halls, making it the largest museum in Pakistan. This is a museum for the people of Pakistan, who are the real bearers of our cultural traditions, which make Pakistan truly great.

The National Institute of Folk & Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa) is a specialised organization that works towards creating an awareness of cultural legacy by collecting, documenting, preserving and disseminating folk and traditional heritage.
National Museum of Ethnology (Heritage Museum) depicts the history and living traditions of the people of Pakistan both from the mainstream and the remotest regions of the country. The location of this landmark achievement at Islamabad enriches the federal capital and adds to its attractions.
Lok Virsa is an affiliate member of UNESCO, World Craft Council, International Council of Music, Asian Cultural Centre for UNESCO, International Council of Museums and similar other world organizations for the dissemination of art works.

Lok Virsa has its own production house for videography of cultural regions, remote regions and tribes of Pakistan. Edited, compiled and produced a set of 36 cultural documentaries and 500 audio cassette labels of nation’s cultural heritage.
Establishment of National Monument Museum at Shakarparian, depicts history, struggle for freedom, birth and development of Pakistan as a progressive state.
Functions of Lok Virsa
To engage in research, systematic collection, documentation, scientific preservation, projection and dissemination of oral traditions, folklore and other aspects of indigenous cultural heritage.
To aim at strengthening and nurturing the roots of Pakistani culture and to achieve fundamental objectives regarding its re-discovery and re-interpretation to project the true identity of Pakistan.
To establish cultural complexes and museums for the purpose of displaying living arts and crafts, cultural artifacts and rare objects from all parts of Pakistan.
To establish cultural industries, art and craft galleries, artisan villages and to hold and organize festivals.
To retrieve advance knowledge from the general public and promotion of cultural heritage and cultural industries of Pakistan.
To carry out studies, investigations, surveys, to collect data to prepare feasibility report about schemes, projects and programes to the extent required for fulfilling the objectives.
To arrange and provide training and technical assistance to its staff as well as participating NGOs and community-based organizations, educational institutions through training programes, purchase of existing services, workshops, seminars, publications and training programes, scholarships within Pakistan or in such other countries as the Board may deem appropriate.
To improve knowledge, understanding and practices of different aspects of indigenous cultural heritage and to devise ways and means for a broader dissemination through employment of modern media technology

Pakistan Museum of Natural History
Pakistan Museum of Natural History (PMNH), established in 1976, is a public natural history museum situated in Islamabad, the federal capital of Pakistan.[2] It has exhibits and galleries which display and provide information about the ecology, geology and palaeontology of the country. Currently, the museum houses a collection of over 300,000 objects.[1] The museum also acts as a research center and works closely with the Lok Virsa Museum. The museum is open to public everyday, except for Friday, from 10 am to 5 pm.[3] The museum is managed by the Pakistan Science Foundation, under the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Exhibits and galleries
Biological gallery - displays and discusses wild flora and fauna, portrayed in their respective habitats.[2]
Ecological gallery - an educational section where ecological cycles, habitats and environmental problems are discussed through visuals and audios.[2]
Gemstones gallery - shows a variety of gems in-the-raw as well as cut and polished forms.
Palaeontology gallery - displays fossils along with their studies. Anthropology is also discussed through paintings and writings, including a skull of Australopithecus. Wall paintings depict the pre-historic era.[2]
Tethys gallery - provides information about oceanology, petrology, pedology and mineralogy of Pakistan. It displays a three-dimensional diorama of seascapes as well as a skeleton of a whale. Different aspects of the salt Range are also studied in detail.[2]
Virtual Orientation Gallery - it allows visitors to take virtual tours of all the above galleries without actually walking around the entire museum. This new gallery was introduced in 2016.

Pakistan Monument Museum (Islamabad)
The National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa) was established in 1974 with the mandate for research, collection, documentation, communication, preservation and promotion of tangible and in-tangible heritage of the country.
Lok Virsa obtained the status of an autonomous organization through Ordinance promulgated by the Government of Pakistan on September 17, 2002.
Lok Virsa is governed by a Board of Governors headed by the Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage.
Executive Director is the overall in charge of all technical and administrative work of the institute.
