Construction at Palmerston Railway Heritage Museum
Currently there is a lot of construction going on surrounding the station. The Palmerston CNR Lands Storm Water Management Project is expected to last until September. They are in the process of removing the tracks to remove the contaminated soil, caused by the operation of the railway. Due to the huge cost, the town is not transporting the soil to be filtered. Instead it is being placed in the middle of the yard in the shape of a large mound, which will then be covered in clay to prevent the water from penetrating the contaminated soil and transferring it into the water system. This mound of soil has a purposed use as an ampliteatre to provide seating for any future concerts on the cement pad. For more information, visit our website,
This video shows the highhoe digging up the soil right off of the edge of the Station's deck.
