The winter resort Pamporovo is situated at the foot of Snezhanka peak (1926 meters) in the Rhodope mountain, at a distance of 260 km from Sofia, 85 km from Plovdiv and 16 km from Smolyan. Although it is mostly known as a winter destination, Pamporovo has a lot to offer to the tourists who decide to visit it during the summer. There are a lot of ecological paths suitable for walk tours in the region of the Rhodope mountain. They are some of the most attractive caves in Bulgaria. From Pamporovo there is a marked route to the village of Shiroka Laka, which is very suitable for bikers. The rivers and the dams in the Rhodope mountain offer good possibilities for sport fishing, and the admirers of nature can also get to know it by mean horse riding. The region around the resort is very attractive for herbgatherers and mushroom-gatherers because interesting plants grow there.
Pamporovo is situated in a region with a lot of history. The towns of Chepelare and Smolyan are situated nearby, as well as the picturesque villages of Shiroka Laka, Stoykite, Gela, Smilyan, Arda, which are very attractive because they have preserved the traditions and the hospitality of the local people. Tours to the historical landmarks in the region and other destinations are offered.

Пампорово - один из трёх, самых известных горнолыжных курортов Болгарии.
Курорт находится в Родопах, на высоте 1650 м над уровнем моря. Расстояние до Софии — 260 км, 85 км до Пловдива, 15 км до Смоляна, 10 км до Чепеларе.
Климат в курортном районе характеризуется мягкой зимой, которая имеет более 100 солнечных дней. Курорт занимает первое место среди горных курортов Болгарии по количеству солнечных дней. Среднегодовая температура + 5,5 °C.
В Пампорово основной поток туристов прибывает в зимние месяцы, потому что курорт предназначен главным образом для катания на лыжах. Туристический сезон начинается в декабре и продолжается до кон
ца апреля. Высота горнолыжных трасс на курорте от 1400 до 1926 метров над уровнем моря.
Первый туристический объект был построен в Пампорово в 1933 году. А название свое курорт Пампорово получил по прозвищу местного жителя Раичо Белева, который перевозил грузы мулами следовавшими друг за другом как вагоны поезда (от турецкого слова пампор - поезд). Поселений на этом месте не было.

Pamporovo Winter Resort - Bulgaria
Bulgaria's Pamporovo mountain resort is to offer free skiing just ahead of Easter, a joint initiative by the resort and Smolyan municipality, Bulgarian National Television said on March 26 2012.
The Bulgarian Orthodox Church, the major denomination in the country, this year observes Easter from April 13 to 16.
Bulgarian National Television said that in spite of the warmer spring weather, Pamporovo continued to offer perfect conditions for skiing and hiking. This past winter's record snowfall of more than two metres would allow the season to continue until mid-April, the report said.
Pamporovo AD managing director Marian Belyakov said that the resort continued to have great snow coverage and, for now, it was likely to be no problem to keep all ski runs open until April 15.
It was possible that after April 15, some of the runs would be left open, but that decision would be taken later, Belyakov said.
The report said that as the season headed towards its close, all hotels were offering promotional packages and the prices of ski lift cards had decreased.
Until the end of the season, a day card would cost 41 leva (about 20 euro) and a half-day card 31 leva.
On two days close to Easter, use of all lifts and facilities would be free. Belyakov said that on April 9 and 12, skiing at the resort would be free of charge.
The report said that skiing in warmer weather has its specifics meaning that it is better to ski earlier in the morning while temperatures are lower because as the day warms, the snow softens.
The Mountain Rescue Service advised skiers to be careful in the afternoon and said that this time of day could be used for hiking.

Last winter we were at a ski resort in Bulgaria - Pamporovo. It is located in the Rhodope mountains at an altitude of 1500 meters above sea level. On one of the mountain peaks,is the main TV tower in Bulgaria. We climbed it to see the beauty of these mountains from a height. Enjoy with us!

Bulgaria was our first European holiday and it is so underrated! We started off in Sofia, the capital city and spent 4 days exploring the streets and Communist-era architecture that are scattered around the city. We got to see the 10th century Boyana Church, the National Historical Museum, the Church of St. George which is Sofia's oldest building, from the 4th-century and a Russian Church, St Nedelya just to name a few. Our highlight was the snail house (Karyn was WAY to excited about this one) and our lowlight was getting a parking ticket and our wheels clamped outside of Alexander Nevsky Cathedral.
The rest of our trip was spent in a tiny cottage in Pamporovo and skiing at a popular ski resort in Smolyan Province in the Norway spruce forests. We were first time skiers and so far it has been the best ski slopes of our lives!
