23 Baby Pandas Make Debut at southwest China Breeding Base
Twenty-three giant panda cubs made their public debut at a panda base in southwest China's Chengdu City on Thursday, offering the cutest scene one can imagine.
The baby pandas, aged one to four months, were all born at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding this year.
I think this is just about the cutest thing in the entire world. I never imagine there will be so many baby pandas in one place, said a U.S. tourist named Aaron.
I thought they were toys because they were lying there motionless. Then I realized they were cute baby pandas, said Zheng Shuo, a tourist from central China's Hunan Province.
This year, experts from the base also witnessed the birth of another four pandas overseas, raising the total number of base's newborn pandas to 27, a rare record since the establishment of the base.
The number of this year's newborn pandas at the base has almost doubled that last year. Experts attribute this to the improvement in breeding technology.
We used to mate the pandas by observing their behaviors to decide the timing for mating. But now we combine behavior observation with endocrine analysis to get more accurate timing, thus ensuring a fairly high breeding rate, said Wu Kongju, animal management director at the base.
What's more, among the 27 newborn pandas there are 10 pairs of twins, accounting for 74 percent of the total.
Since its establishment nearly 30 years ago, the base has bred 176 giant pandas, the world's largest artificially-bred giant panda population.

Sichuan Airlines A350 Panda One Flight
Get $20 off an AWAY suitcase at use code SAM20. This video is sponsored by Away Travel.
Join me on this very fun Sichuan Airlines A350 Panda One flight from Beijing to Chengdu. This is my first full video in my mother tongue, Mandarin (Chinese). During my flight on Sichuan Airlines A350, I discovered many unique element to this Panda themed aircraft. Check out the amazing food and beverage offered.
--------
Join me for this very exciting and very cute video detailing my trip within China between Chengdu and Beijing on Sichuan Airlines’ panda route! If you love the docile panda, then this video is for you! The flight is only two and a half hours long but that’s more than enough time for me to enjoy panda heaven in the sky aboard one of two Airbus A350’s used by Sichuan Airlines for this special domestic route, each painted in a cute, cartoon panda livery.
I depart from terminal 3 of Beijing airport with four good friends from the Yitiao Media company who accompanied me on this journey. It’s great to be able to take them along on such a fun themed flight and show them what I do on my in-flight reviews. They’re all armed with their cameras and so, after passing through the strict Chinese airport security (and checking out Beijing airport’s cool karaoke bars!), we’re all set for a panda party in the sky!
After waiting in the exclusive VIP lounge at Beijing airport (with brilliant white walls and deep red carpets) for a little while, my flight is ready to board and I’m overwhelmed by the warm welcome given by the cabin staff. If you thought this was just a regular flight with a light association with pandas, then you’d be very wrong. The panda theme is reinforced everywhere you look with head-rest covers with cartoon pandas on them, members of cabin staff wearing panda badges and panda aprons in the kitchen! To help me drift off to sleep, I’m given a hot steam eye mask which, of course, has panda eyes on the outside to make everyone wearing them look just adorable. Sichuan Airlines have even gone as far as to adopt a panda called “Youyou,” who resides at the Chengdu zoo and who is the official mascot of their panda route.
The on-board experience is extremely pleasing. I am welcomed on board with a special Chengdu tea, which contrasts strongly with the typical welcome drinks of Western airlines like orange juice and champagne – it’s certainly much healthier! I normally drink coca cola during my flight but it’s a good opportunity to give my body a detox with regular sips of Chinese tea throughout the flight.
Even though this is a short domestic flight, the amount and variety of food on offer is both very impressive and very satisfying. Economy class have a choice between pork and bean paste with chilli chicken and rice or the traditional noodle fare with a surprise sauce. For dessert, there’s the cutest, sweet panda buns you ever did see!
I have a wide variety of sides and meals to choose from with fruit, noodles, vegetables, panda rice and fish in a hot chilli sauce all being put before me. I can barely bring myself to eat the dessert – a cake with a cute, icing sugar panda face staring back at me! My meal is finished off nicely with the famous covered tea of Sichuan which symbolises good luck and harmony.
The daily panda route between Beijing and Chengdu has been really well received and Sichuan airlines are reportedly even considering introducing an international panda route between Chengdu and Boston, United States, in the not too distant future.
I feel that Sichuan airlines have really worked hard to make this panda route a fun and engaging flight from start to finish with a lot of attention paid to detail to ensure that the panda theme runs from check in all the way to arrival – they even have panda shaped cushions in the airport lounge!
What did you think of the whole panda route experience? Let me know in the comments section down below and, as always, thanks for watching.

China's First Sky Train Begins Trials in Chengdu
Test runs of the first-ever sky railway car hit the rails on Monday in Chengdu of southwest China's Sichuan Province.
With a panda's face painted on its head, the hanging train will run on a 1.4 kilometer-long suspended railway for 90 days before being released to the market.
Engineers said these trials will be crucial for the future development of this new form of rail transportation.
This trial operation is key to creating a new rail traffic standard. We will test and improve the system parameters during the trial and draw up a technical standard for this type of rail transportation before releasing it to the market, said Zhai Wanming, chief designer of the sky railway car.
The hanging train, which can carry up to 200 people at a time, runs at a speed of 60 kilometers per hour. It runs on lithium-ion batteries, which Zhai said is less harmful to the environment than traditional energy sources.
The train is free from the traditional system of high-tension power transmission and transformation. It runs along the closed track on a lifted box girder and thus will not be troubled by problems such as derailment. It will never crash into barriers as the cars are running on the special railway. So we could say it is a very safe mean of transportation, he said.
The first commercial sky railway service is expected to roll out within a year, according to Zhongtang Sky Train Group, the company that initiated and invested in the project.
The first demonstration line for the sky train will be built in Chengdu city center or Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport in about half a year. The construction of a line is expected to take about six to eight months, said Tang Tong, chairman of Zhongtang Sky Train Group.

Trippy Temple Lights in Chengdu | Spring Festival in Sichuan, Day 1
Spring Festival is China's biggest and most important holiday. It's like Christmas and New Year's Eve in one holiday!
From February 7th to February 14th, 2016, we got one week off from work, so my friend and I decided to spend an amazing week at Sichuan province, the home of Pandas and spicy food.
We spent our first day/evening at the Wuhou temple in Chengdu which was insanely decorated with lights, lanterns and colourful figures, as you can see in this vlog.
If you enjoyed this video, please give it a thumbs-up and subscribe to my channel.
