The Paoli train station in PAOLI,PA
The Paoli train station was the last place my mother saw her father in June of 1964. Although it was snowing when I took these pictures I could feel the sadness my mother felt at that last kiss good-bye. Two weeks later John Meyer passed away at 59 years old.

Caberfae Peaks - A Journey to the Dark Side
Caberfae Peaks is the ski area most local to me. It was one of the earliest ski resorts though much of the original terrain has been abandoned and the South Peak was added and the North peak enhanced. This video starts with a ride up the old Shelter double chair, then over to the North Peak Quad and then the South Peak Triple. Probably the best bang for your buck in Michigan, this resort is heavy on intermediate terrain but a bit lacking for the expert, and a challenge for the beginner. The most difficult runs are on the so-called Dark Side of the South Peak, which is the right side. So-called as it lacks lighting for night skiing and is closed after sunset.

I Found the BEST SPOT!! Incredible Pike Fishing
Floating an unfamiliar river for some super aggressive pike. I searched around for a while, and then found one of the best pike holes I've fished in a while!
Fly rod: 9' 8wt Orvis Clearwater rod (4 piece)
Reel: Waterworks‑Lamson Liquid Fly Reel 3.5
Line: 8wt scientific anglers fly line, 20lb tapered flouro leader with a 20lb RIO wire tippet.
Rod/reel setup:
-Quantum Octane 6'6 medium heavy action rod with an Abu Garcia silver max and 30lb braided line, connected to a 27lb 9 steel leader.
***The rod and reel I was using is a cheap setup, and I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. I only use it at the river in case something happens, I'd rather break that than an expensive rod/reel.

Action at Paoli Part 5-Thanksgiving Rush
Well here its is ya'll action at Paoli Part 5 and its the Thankgiving rush edition. I got to paoli a bit later then I expected do to traffic but I was able to film some of the great action. The first train I filmed was a Westbound Keystone Express train. Leading is cab car 9647. As the train departed the engineer waved at me which was really cool. Pushing at the rear was AEM7DC #952 is pushing hard at the rear the evening sunset combine with the train and Paolit tower make an awesome picture. Next is the 4:05 train from Thorndale to Philly. Normall this train runs as a 3 car set but since its the thanksgiving rush they added 2 additional carsto the train. As the train departs i was able to get a great zoom on the signals and I get the train tripping them as it speed east. While waiting for eastbound amtrak train to show up I noticed the sunlight shineing off a glass building across from the tracks. The orange red glow it casted was awesome and cool so I decided to film it and the tower at the same time. The shot was completly awesome. Then the eastbound amtrak shows up with AEM7AC #917 leading. As 917 departs I get an even better zoom this time and film the train as it trips the old PRR signals and rounds the distant curve. Next my moms train shows up and this would be another cool part to the day. The engineer pulled the cab right up next to me and without my knowledge my camera truned back on and recorded the converstation. We were talking about thanksgiving and he was telling me how for years amtrak would borrow the septa bombadier sets but then decided to borrrow trains from NJT. But since NJT lost 25% of their fleet Amtrak is borrowing trains from VIA. Well they are still talking about it but I did find out they borrow some VIA dome cars for some trains in Massachusetts. I sure hope that amtrak borrows those trains from VIA it would be nice to see them running on the NEC. But inorder to see them I would have to go up to NYC alonf that section since they wouldn't be running in the Philly NEC sections. Anyway I wish the cool engineer a happy thanksgiving and I film his train as it departs. I didn't notice my mom was standing next to me until after the train passed the tower. I hope you enjoy part 5 of action at Paoli.

Action at Thorndale Part 15
Today I got outside to enjoy more of this wonderful weather. I decided to film at Thorndale and see what action I could get. I got there in plenty of time to film the eastbound Pennsylvanian train 42. Leading the train is P42 185 and I get awesome horn action from the crew as the train passed by. Next I filmed the Septa train as it backed into the station. Shortly after Keystone 645 with AEM7AC 944 shows up. On the rear of the train is rebuilt cab car 9649 with the messed up paint. The Septa train soon departs. Right behind the Keystone is another Septa train entering Thorndale and at the same time I film a pumper as it rushes to an emergency. Then I noticed a classic ramp truck stopped at the light. I did some research and its a 1951 Chevy Coe Cab Over Ramp truck. This one though is a tandem axle version and it was cool. At 3:27pm NS local H84 shows up right on time. This is the frist time I've filmed this train in a while and in daylight. The lead unit is NS ES44AC 8064 and NS Dash 9-40CW 9694. The train is extra long today and features mostly gondola's, ore cars, and flats. Today the train also has a huge center flow hopper along with a High Cub TTX railbox box car. Bringing up the rear is CR caboose 21201. I also film the train as it crosses over fro track 4 to track 1. Finally I film the Septa train departing along with two rescue trucks as they head to another emergency.

Railfanning SEPTA at Lansdowne (with flipped consist)
This video is about railfanning SEPTA Media/Elwyn Line at Lansdowne Station during the AM rush hour. Temperatures are still feeling like spring has sprung again. The trains caught in this video are seven Silverliner IV sets, two Silverliner V sets, and one Push-Pull set. For some reason, Train 4311 to Elwyn was facing the other direction; the joint of the pantographs were facing eastbound instead of westbound. Normally, the Silverliner trains' pantograph joints face westbound instead of eastbound. Also, the Push-Pull set has a purple painting in the red and blue stripes on one of the trailer cars.
Even though the list of trains below says there are thirteen trains, there are only ten because three trains heading to Elwyn were heading back to Philadelphia.
Train 1: 330 Local to Center City, Philadelphia, with Silverliner V cars 847 leading and 850 trailing.
Train 2: a deadhead train to Elwyn, with AEM-7 locomotive 2307 pulling and Comet II cab car 2407 trailing.
Train 3: a deadhead train to Elwyn, with Silverliner IV cars 164 leading and 363 trailing.
Train 4: 3524 Express to Morton, Local to Center City Philadelphia, with Silverliner IV cars 105 leading and 402 trailing.
Train 5: a deadhead train to Elwyn, with Silverliner IV cars 358 leading and 419 trailing.
Train 6: 9334 Local to Primos, Express to Center City, Philadelphia, with Silverliner IV cars 179(?) leading and 334 trailing.
Trains 7 & 8: 3224 Express to Morton, Local to Center City, Philadelphia, with Silverliner IV cars 143 leading and 282 trailing; meets with 4311 Local to Elwyn, with Silverliner IV cars (???) leading and 330 trailing (the entire train was flipped in the other direction).
Train 9: 338 Deadhead to Secane, Local to Center City, Philadelphia, with Silverliner IV cars 363 leading and 164 trailing.
Train 10: a deadhead train to Elwyn, with Silverliner IV cars (???) leading and 139 trailing.
Trains 11 & 12: 9340 Local to Primos, Express to Center City, Philadelphia, with Comet II cab car 2407 leading and AEM-7 2307 pushing; meets with 319 Local to Elwyn, with Silverliner V cars 812 leading and 809 trailing.
Train 13: 3226 Deadhead to Secane, Local to Center City, Philadelphia, with Silverliner IV cars 419 leading and 358 trailing.

Prospect Park PA 05.13.12: There's Always Room For Moore
A 'remaster' of an old clip to correct some camera leveling issues that had bugged me for a while and generally bring the picture quality up to my current standard.
Sunday, May 13, 2012 was 'recovery day' for Mrs. FFV and our daughter after they took the first train in and the last train out to spend the day in New York City on the 12th. While everyone else spent the afternoon meandering about town, I returned to Moore/Prospect Park station for a second, bigger dose of NEC action. The Amtrak parade included a full variety of long-distance, regional, and Acela Express trains, and the SEPTA services were squarely in the hands of the Silverliner IVs.
The trains:
4:05pm: Amtrak 19, the Crescent
4:06pm: SEPTA 220
4:22pm: Amtrak Acela Express 2253
4:29pm: Amtrak Acela Express 2256
4:41pm: Amtrak Northeast Regional 156
Starting at 5:00 pm, the following 4 trains passed in such close sequence that no camera stop was necessary:
Amtrak 92, the Silver Star
SEPTA 223
SEPTA 222
Amtrak 97, the Silver Meteor
5:10pm: Amtrak Northeast Regional 87
5:12pm: Amtrak Northeast Regional 132
5:22pm: Amtrak Acela Express 2221
5:31pm: Amtrak Acela Express 2258
5:46pm: Amtrak Northeast Regional 163
5:59pm: SEPTA 225
6:05pm: SEPTA 224
6:18pm: Amtrak Northeast Regional 126
6:19pm: Amtrak Acela Express 2255
