Had the irrigation and PWD departments been more sensitive, this accident would not have take place.
We display this video in an effort to create awareness about the dangers of monsoon flash floods across India, and to pay homage and obeisance to the loss of lives that occurred in the incident. If we can create some awareness out of this video, some very modest amount of good can come out of the terrible tragedy that befell this family. We bow our heads to the loss of life and convey our deepest sympathies and condolences to the family concerned.
Fortunately, there were also survivors in the group, despite the fall from a great height, with the flow of the waterfall.
This tragic accident happened at the Patalpani waterfall in Indore, when a father and his 4 kids celebrated the MBA graduation of the oldest daughter and got surprised by the freak flood. A tragedy for these 3 family members resulted - the father and 2 girls died while the 2 boys are alive.

**I share this video in hopes no other family member or innocent person loses their life to such a tragic accident. My condolences to the family and past family members who have had the unfortunate accident at the Patalpani Waterfall.
A family who had gone there to enjoy a quiet Sunday, had no warning or understanding of what would happen next
The water current caught all the five people. From the reports, 3 were found dead, while 2 were lucky to survive this tragic event.
The video was taken by a local tourist Gaurav Patidar.

Surrounded by dense forest covers, majestic hills, clear skies and lush green landscapes Patalpani is perfect for anyone looking for a time out from their mundane schedules. The falls are at a height of 300 feet and produce roaring streams of white when the water flow is at its full capacity. The waterflow is magnanimous during the monsoons and slopes may become slippery and treacherous, so the visitors are advised to exercise precaution during their tour of the falls. All in all the Patalpani falls are truly a sight to behold in all their plunging glory, the majestic cascade is a must visit for anyone who enjoys nature.

The Patalpani waterfall is located in Indore district of Madhya Pradesh, India. The waterfall is approximately 300 feet high. The area around Patalpani is a popular picnic and trekking spot.

Location : - The nearest railway station is Patalpani railway station (2 km) on the Indore-Khandwa route. Mhow is the nearest town.
Deaths in 2011 : - During monsoon season (July-September), the area is prone to flash floods. On 17 July 2011, heavy rains occurred in the catchment area of the upstream. Over 50 visitors, many of them on a picnic, were sitting near the waterfall at that time. The local villagers warned them about the risk, and asked them to move away from water. Most of the visitors managed to get to safety, but five people did not move away in time. When the water flow started rising, they started to move. However, as they were crossing the stream, they were washed away in a sudden gush of water.
[1] Only two of them survived. The bodies of the victims were found over the next week: Chavi Dhoot (18 July), her father Chandrashekhar (19 July) and Mudita Rathi (20 July).
[2] A video of the accident went viral. Subsequently, the local administration constructed a bridge and a staircase to avoid similar mishaps.

Patalpani Waterfall - (Mhow) Indore
Visited the Patalpani Waterfall more than a month ago with 2 of my friends while we were in Indore. located in Mhow Tehsil of Indore district this place is about 30-35kms away from the Indore city center. The lush green landscape, metre gauge railway, waterfall & the scenic beauty around has a lot to offer to the photography enthusiasts & adventure seekers (keeping in mind the safety of one's self & others). We being the latter took a rickshaw from Indore all the way to this venue. It was a turbulent ride throughout but had its share of fun to add to the overall experience. Recommend visiting this place during the rainy season or after the monsoon when the waterfall has ample water in its streams from around. We did experience a little drizzle for a while & had to make the most out of it.
Here's presenting a short cinematic montage of our trip, which took a while for me to compose as I had very limited time & content to work with. Videos were shot on #Oneplus5 & #ZhiyunSmooth4 Gimbal.

INTRODUCTION-Patalpani is a waterfall, close to Indore city. It is a popular picnic spot where local people use to visit on holidays. It location is 35kms south-west of Indore city. Many people visits this place in week-ends. Here waterfall height is approx. 150 feet and becomes photogenic in rainy season when waterfall receives adequate rainy water and fall is in its full strength. Being a seasonal waterfall, it gives serious surprise of water in rainy season due to which many accidents took place in this fall. As located in down-flow, in monsoon season, due to rainfall in nearby areas, here waterflow suddenly increases, giving no time for rescue so it is suggested to view from distance. This place is good for adventure lovers as it gives some scope to adventure activities.
TOURIST ATTRACTIONS-Patalpani is a waterfall so during its visit one can enjoy the scenic surrounding nature and can spend sometime close to nature in peaceful atmosphere. Their is not other tourist attraction in this spot but tourists have options to visit nearby pilgrimage destinations like Maheshwar,jamgate,choraldam.etc
Reaching by Train-Although Patalpani have its own railway station called Patalpani railway station but it is connected by narrow gauge which is almost irrelevant mode of transportation in current scenario. So Indore railway station is the best option to reach for visiting Patalpani fall. It is well connected from all major cities and tourist destinations.

Patalpani Waterfall is an Awesome Picnic as well as Trekking Spot near Mhow & Indore. Near More than 150Ft High, this waterfall is in one of the Best and Beautiful Waterfalls of Madhya Pradesh (MP). In this Vlog/Video I traveled there and explored not only the Scenic Patalpani Waterfall but the Patalpani Railway Station, Trains, Local People and that whole Area.
It is considered that the Patapani Kund (Pit) at the bottom of this Waterfall is as Deep as Patal (The World under Earth in India Mythology). This is why People use to say this Patalpani. Patalpani Waterfall is on Mhow-Sanawad Meter Gauge Rail Route.
पातालपानी झरना एक कमाल का पिकनिक, ट्रेकिंग और ट्रैवलिंग स्पॉट है. 150 फुट से ऊंचा पातालपानी जलप्रपात इंदौर और महू (डॉ.अंबेडकर नगर) के बेहद पास है और इसे मध्य प्रदेश के खूबसूरत, खुशनुमा और खास वॉटरफॉल्स में गिना जाता है. इस व्लॉग/वीडियो में मैंने न केवल आपको पातालपानी की दर्शनीय सुंदरता दिखाई है, बल्कि पातालपानी रेलवे स्टेशन, स्थानीय लोगों और इस इलाके की झलकियां पेश की हैं.
ऐसा माना जाता है कि पातालपानी का जो कुंड है, वह बेहद गहरा है। लोककथाओं, किस्सों-कहानियों और स्थानीय लोगों की मानें तो इसका कुंड पाताल तक गहरा है, लिहाजा ऊपर आने वाला पानी जब नीचे गिरता है तो वह सीधे पाताल तक पहुंचता है. यही वजह है कि इसका नाम पातालपानी पड़ गया. पातालपानी लोकेशन महू-सनावद मीटर गेज रेल रूट पर स्थित है.
