Join us for a short weekend trip to Peak Charles National Park, halfway between Esperance and Norseman in Western Australia.
We load up the Lancruiser 200 series, hook up the Jayco Journey Outback and grab the kids to travel with Stuart and Sandy and climb, almost to the Peak. It's no easy climb, with a 'walk/climb' trail about 2km long from camp to the peak.
This NP is situated 52 kilometres west of the Coolgardie-Esperance Highway and is home to both Peak Charles and Peak Eleanor.
There is a small (only about 5 bays) campground (with drop toilet facilities) at the base of peak.

Massive apology's for the heavy wind sound at the top of the Peak, it is always windy up there but this day was more windy than normal.

054 // My second day in Esperance and I moved to the Cape Le Grand National Park, about 40min East of Esperance.
This National Park would have to be one of the most beautiful I have ever been to, white sand beaches, crazy coastlines, vistas as far as the eye can see, an amazing time spent exploring the coves, caves and beautiful beaches.

Esperance beach trip WA, Australia
Esperance to Shark Bay via unsealed roads
We continue on our adventure by leaving Esperance and heading to Shark Bay in search of warmer, dryer weather. The 1600km journey sees us sticking to unsealed roads where possible. Approximately 130km of the trip had to be done on the blacktop.
The video starts out at an overnight stay at Grasspatch before heading to Peak Charles National Park. A detour due to fallen power lines sees us cutting through the recent bushfire devasted areas then continues onto Coolgardie, staying at Rowles Lagoon. The skys open and the tracks get wet before making it to the coast and travelling along the very badly corrugated Useless Loop 4WD track out to Steep Point.

On top of Peak Charles. Peak Charles National Park is 300kms east of Lake King via a very rough track that is often closed. If you visit this area ensure you carry enough water, spare tyres, and travel preferably with a second vehicle

One of our favourite places in Australia is Esperance. It's is a town in Western Australia, on the southern coastline. Near the town itself are numerous beaches , offering surfing, scuba diving and swimming. Also nearby are a number of salt lakes, including Pink Lake, which gains its rosy hue from red algae living within its waters.
About 60 kilometres to the east of Esperance is a beautiful National Park, called Cape Le Grand National Park. It harbours mountain peaks and beautiful beaches with blindingly white sand, where you may see some kangaroos and emus.

Albatross first pitch
Climbing the Albatross at Peak Head near Albany. An all-natural three-pitch masterpiece hundreds of meters above the Southern Ocean. I couldn't put it better than the guidebook: Magnificent position. Superb climbing.
