I have to admit that Guangzhou is becoming my favorite city in China! It has such a great contrast between the old and the new. The city of Guangzhou has so much to offer and you can get a little of everything here. Join me as I spend my first day wandering and exploring the modern part of Guangzhou City!

Explored Guangzhou, China the second time with Chandell. We went to Canton Tower by taxi and paid 30 Yuan from the hotel. Beside the Canton tower is the Pearl River. We were not able to take the Pearl River Cruise because we arrived late. It's my next goal to experience the cruise on my next GZ trip. Enjoy watching the video guys!

The Pearl River, also known by its Chinese name Zhujiang and formerly often known as the Canton River, is an extensive river system in southern China. The name Pearl River is also often used as a catch-all for the watersheds of the Xi (West), Bei (North), and Dong (East) rivers of Guangdong. These rivers are all considered tributaries of the Pearl River because they share a common delta, the Pearl River Delta. Measured from the farthest reaches of the Xi River, the Pearl River system is China's third-longest river, 2,400 kilometres (1,500 mi), after the Yangtze River and the Yellow River, and second largest by volume, after the Yangtze. The 409,480-square-kilometre (158,100 sq mi) Pearl River Basin (珠江流域) drains the majority of Liangguang (Guangdong and Guangxi provinces), as well as parts of Yunnan, Guizhou, Hunan and Jiangxi in China; it also drains parts of Vietnam's Northeast Cao Bằng and Lạng Sơn provinces.

Guangzhou Mainland China pearl river delta
The Pearl River Delta Metropolitan Region (PRD, 珠江三角洲都會區), also known as Zhujiang Delta, Zhusanjiao or Greater Bay Area (粤港澳大灣區), is the low-lying area surrounding the Pearl River estuary, where the Pearl River flows into the South China Sea. It is one of the most densely urbanized regions in the world. This region was also the source of much Chinese emigration from the 19th to the mid 20th centuries, including to the Western world, such as the US, Canada, Australia, Latin America, and much of Southeast Asia, where they formed many Chinatowns. Today, much of the Chinese diaspora traces their ancestry to this region. Its dominant language is Cantonese.
This region is often considered an emerging megacity. The PRD is a megalopolis, with future development into a single mega metropolitan area, yet itself is at the southern end of a larger megalopolis running along the southern coast of China, which include metropolises such as Chaoshan, Zhangzhou-Xiamen, Quanzhou-Putian and Fuzhou. The nine largest cities of PRD had a combined population of 57.15 million at the end of 2013, comprising 53.69% of the provincial population.[1] According to the World Bank Group, the PRD has become the largest urban area in the world in both size and population.[2] The metropolitan region consists of one metropolitan area known as the Yuegang'ao Greater Bay Area or Guangdong—Hong Kong—Macau Greater Bay Area. On 7 December 2016, in the English version of the 13th Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development of the People’s Republic of China translated by the Central Compilation and Translation Bureau of China, the concept of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (粵港澳大灣區) was mentioned.[3] On 13 April 2017, the heading of a piece of news released at the English.gov.cn website of the State Council adopted the name Guangdong - Hong Kong - Macao Bay Area, and mentioned in the text of the same news that it is also known as Greater Bay Area.[4] After a few months, on 1 July 2017, the Framework Agreement on Deepening Guangdong - Hong Kong - Macao Cooperation in the Development of the Bay Area (深化粵港澳合作 推進大灣區建設框架協議) was signed in Hong Kong.
