Longest bridge in Southeast Asia nearly ready for use in Penang, Malaysia
Work on the Second Penang bridge in Malaysia is expected to be completed by November 8 and it will open to the public several days later.
The bridge spans 24 km, including 16.9 km over the sea, and will link Batu Kawan with Batu Maung. It is built to withstand earthquakes of up to 7.5 magnitude. Lights on the bridge will change color to coincide with Malaysia's major festivities.
According to the Star Online, the commissioning of the bridge's power supply has been completed. All of the bridge's street lights were recently illuminated during a launch rehearsal.
There will be two lanes for cars and one for motorcycles in each direction, with a speed limit of 80 kph.
Two oyster shell shaped panoramic platforms in the middle of the bridge will allow tourists to park their cars and enjoy the view. A pedestrian crossing will also connect both platforms.
The US$1.4 billion bridge will be the longest bridge ever built in Southeast Asia.

Penang 2nd Bridge - the longest bridge in South East Asia
Penang Second Bridge also known as The Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge is the longest bridge in Malaysia and longest in South East Asia. The total length of the bridge is 24 km (15 mi) with length over water at 16.9 km (10.5 mi). It connects Batu Kawan on the mainland Malaysia Peninsula with Seberang Perai and Batu Maung on Penang Island. It is the second bridge to link the island to the mainland after the first Penang Bridge. The bridge was officially opened on 1 March 2014 and was named after the fourteen Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah of Kedah and was assigned with the route number E28. The iconic Penang is not only an important passage way that links the mainland to the island, but in the angling world it presents another wonderful opportunity to cast ones' rod. Fishing opportunities are available both in the Old and Second Bridge, as transport boats are available to ferry you there.

After touring Penang for a few days, time to go back. A up close-up view of Penang second bridge in my friend's car (Old Proton Saga). The Penang Bridge connects Peninuslar West Malaysia to the island of Penang. Its quite a long winding bridge. Cars can stop at mid-way on the bridge and get out to have a great view and take photos.

Penang Drone Flight: Penang is a Malaysian state located on the northwest coast of Peninsular Malaysia, by the Malacca Strait. It has two parts: Penang Island, where the capital city, George Town, is located, and Seberang Perai (formerly Province Wellesley) on the Malay Peninsula. The second smallest Malaysian state by land mass, Penang is bordered by Kedah to the north and the east, and Perak to the south. Currently, Penang is home to Southeast Asias Longest bridge connecting the island to mainland. Penangs population stood at nearly 1.767 million as of 2018, while its population density rose to 1,684/km2 (4,360/sq mi). It has among the nations highest population densities and is one of the countrys most urbanised states. George Town, Malaysias second largest city, is also home to a UNESCO World Heritage Site. // Penang is a state in northwest Malaysia comprising mainland Seberang Perai and Penang Island.
