Skippack Trail - Pennsylvania
This ride on the Skippack Trail was taken on July 27, 2013. I only rode a mile of so on this trail and the video is the return trip to the Perkiomen Trail. I plan on riding this again and taking it to downtown Skippack to check out some stores.

The pathway follows the Perkiomen Creek for its first half mile before heading east past a residential area. Here, you'll head up a large hill, under a set of power lines.
At about mile 2 from the Perkiomen Trail, the Skippack Trail splits; one branch goes north to the picturesque Village of Skippack. The trail's eastern end offers wide open landscapes and ends near Evansburg State Park, a scenic recreational area bisected by Skippack Creek.

Riding an Abandoned Bike Park - Spring Mountain - Schwenksville, PA
Finding flow at Spring Mountain...
Once upon a time there was a sweet bike park called Launch tucked away on small ski hill just 30 minutes from Philly...unfortunately the bike park closed in 2015, but the trails and many of the features are still there and are being maintained by a small group of dedicated trailbuilders/shredders and it can still be ridden from the spring to the late fall. Mid-November to early April, the trails are covered in snow and the mountain is off limits to mountain biking as it operates as a ski resort. To ride you should complete a free registration ( granting you a trail pass (and allowing the land managers to gauge how many people are using the trail system).
Spring Mountain has about 10 total trails ranging from intermediate to legit double black tech. There are definitely much better spots to take beginners, but those looking for steep, technical terrain and natural and wooden features ranging from small rock drops to huge road gaps will be rewarded handsomely. Although relatively small in stature at about 380 ft of elevation from the parking lot to the peak, Spring Mountain packs a real punch in its diminutive footprint. There are a ton of drops, jumps, steep rock rolls and woodwork which have been maintained well.
Park at the lot at the bottom of the hill next to the Perkiomen trail (not the lot with the main lodge further up the road) and climb up from there. There is a .66 mile fire road climb to get to the top and all of the trails that drop in from the peak where the lift ends. Most of the trails drop back down the front side back to the lot, however there are a couple that drop down the backside and end at the Perkiomen which you can ride about a 1/10 of a mile to get back to the lot.
This video was made on a day where we were riding with a friend that was just getting back on the bike after 6 months off, so we tried to take it easy, hitting the flowiest stuff available. As you can see, these trails are anything but flow, but they are by far the easiest tracks on the mountain. I'll be back in the spring when the snow is gone and will put another one together showcasing the gnarly stuff (or at least the gnarly stuff I can ride) and can't wait to get back there.

Meet the Vivian Family from Schwenksville, Pennsylvania. They have 4 beautiful children, two of which were diagnosed with a rare and fatal genetic disorder called Metachromatic Leukodystrophy or as it's more commonly known, MLD. MLD is a genetic disorder that affects nerves, muscles, other organs, and behavior. It slowly gets worse over time. Eli and Ella are in a fight for their life.
The Vivian's decided to go the gene therapy route as far as treatment was concerned for Eli and Ella. The only place they could go for this clinical trial was Milan, Italy. The community rallied around them to help raise funds so they could afford the multiple trips they would need to take to Milan to seek treatment. The results of this community involvement far exceeded their expectations.

Perkiomen Valley Middle School students took part in a presidential primary on April 22, 2016. Students learned from their peers about the process by which the country elects its president, and had the opportunity to vote themselves.
