PoV driving a Land Rover at Perthshire Off Road - Glenfarg
Good day to be driving off road
Perth Off-Road Landrover driving #08
On Sunday 11th July I gave my partner Val her 50th birthday gift - 1 1/2 hours of Off-Road driving at Perth Off-Road centre near Glenfarg.
Consider whilst you watch this that Val is registered blind. She has very little vision and only in one eye. She has never driver any kind of vehicle, and in previous experiences was treated very tenderly - Val strived to get a chance to drive something properly before she looses what's left of her useful vision.
This clip shows another splash through a sump and an education about the rocks of Scotland!
Drive From Milnathort On Narrow Road To Old Library In Glenfarg Perthshire Scotland
Tour Scotland travel video of a road trip drive on the narrow road from Milnathort on ancestry visit to the old libraray in Glenfarg, Perthshire. The Arngask Library was built in 1892. Until 1890 the main settlement in the area was the hamlet of Arngask, now a few hundred yards to the east of Glenfarg. In that year the North British Railway opened a line to Perth to coincide with the completion of the Forth Rail Bridge. Glenfarg Station was built to serve this upland area on the site of a farm called Damhead. The settlement that rapidly grew up around it became equally rapidly known as Glenfarg.

Summer Afternoon Drive From Birnam To The Village Where I Live In Scone Perthshire Scotland
Tour Scotland Summer afternoon travel video of a road trip drive with music from Birnam in Highland Perthshire, South down the A9 road through the city of Perth to the village where I live in Scone, Perthshire. ( new dashboard camera, just out of the box, still have to adjust the settings ) The A9 is a major road running from central Scotland to Scrabster Harbour, Thurso in the far north, via Stirling, Bridge of Allan, Perth and Inverness. At 273 miles, it is the longest road in Scotland and the fifth longest A road in the United Kingdom. Historically it was the main road between Edinburgh and John o' Groats, and has been called the spine of Scotland. Drive with great care and patience on this road as it regularly appears in lists of Scotland's most dangerous roads

Spring Drive From St Fillans To Lochearnhead Highland Perthshire Scotland
Tour Scotland travel video of Spring road trip drive from St Fillans, West on the A85 road, to Lochearnhead in Highland Perthshire. Lochearnhead is situated at the western end of Loch Earn where the A85 road from Crieff meets the A84. Loch Earn was on the frontier between Pictland and Dalriada, or Dál Riata, the kingdom of the incoming Scots from Ireland, Dundurn at the east end of the loch being a Pictish frontier fort. This lends weight to the argument that the name Earn therefore comes from Eireann, in other words the loch of the Irish..

Disused Rail Tunnel, Peebles
At a neat 600 yards in length, Neidpath/South Park/Peebles/Castle Hill Tunnel - take your pick! - threaded the Symington Biggar & Broughton Railway through a projecting shoulder of rock under South Park Woods.
Originally proposed by the Caledonian Railway in 1846, the scheme met with fierce opposition from the North British Railway, operators of the line to the east of Peebles. It eventually saw steam in 1864.
In the early part of the 20th century, Nobel Prize winning scientist C T R Wilson used the tunnel - after traffic had ceased for the night - to conduct experiments with his cloud chamber to prove (or not) the existence of cosmic radiation.
The line saw a considerable amount of traffic during World War II and it is often rumoured that the tunnel served as a hiding place for the Royal Train while the King and Queen were inspecting the damage caused by the Blitz on Clydeside. However the fact that the route is single track and a stabled train would effectively block it casts much doubt on this story.
The tunnel remained operational until 7th June 1954 although the passenger service had ended four years earlier. It was latterly used by the Wemyss & March estate for the movement of timber.
Costing £14,431 to drive from either end and a central shaft, the bore is brick-lined for most of its length but with masonry portals. Although the western section is straight, a southerly curve is encountered around 150 yards from the east end. There are no refuges but, close to the centre, an unlined chamber is cut into the northern wall.
Today Neidpath Tunnel benefits from a Grade B listing.

Scotland vs. New Zealand
In the first episode of Scotland vs. New Zealand, we take a look at some spectacular natural water features. Andrew visits the town of Rotorua, which is famous for it's thermal springs and geysers whilst Simon takes a drive out to Loch Tay to show off the mighty Falls of Acharn. Which country do you believe should win this battle?
Concept notes: After having rattled off a few solo videos (for lack of a better term) over the last few months, I thought to myself, there's no reason why Andrew can't make an appearance, hence his cameo in the Lost Coastlines video. Naturally, the logical progression was to bring back GrayBurn Productions as the geographical barrier had been broken. The easiest way to do this was to film two separate but thematically linked solo videos and jump between the two.
Doing things this way eradicates the monotony of having to listen to me ramble on about bridges and tunnels for 15 minutes and hopefully brings back the balance the GrayBurn videos had. Despite the fact the video is called Scotland vs. New Zealand, we aren't really pitting the two countries against each other as in reality, I'd say they're both on a par with each other (Andrew might have other ideas since he's actually familiar with both countries) but they're both regarded as being beautiful parts of the World and hopefully we can continue this as a series.
