Peter Pan - London UK
The bronze statue of Peter Pan is in Kensington Gardens, next to Hyde Park. The exact location was chosen by Peter Pan's author, J.M. Barrie. Barrie lived close to Kensington Gardens and published his first Peter Pan story in 1902, using the park for inspiration. In his Peter Pan tale, The Little White Bird, Peter flies out of his nursery and lands beside the Long Water lake - on the spot where the statue now stands.

Peter Pan.
The boy who would not grow up.

'WONDERLAND
(BY THOS. J. CLAPPERTON R.B.S.)
PRESENTED & DEDICATED TO THE CHILDREN OF OAMARU
BY ROBERT MILLIGAN, MARCH 1927'.
Thomas J. Clapperton's Wonderland in Oamaru Public Gardens is inspired by Sir George Frampton's 1912 statue of Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens in London, and is often called the Peter Pan statue. Instead of Peter Pan in a tunic at the top of the structure, though, here there is a young boy in short trousers with a young girl.
There are many similarities to the sculpture in London, and not least the essential pyramidal structure -- and here, for instance, a fairy (albeit much smaller than Frampton's) is staring up at the male figure.
And all around the metal base are fairies, rabbits and mice: it all seems so familiar, but it's still a feast for the eyes:
Visit Peter Pan and friend in Hyde Park London
The legendary story of Peter Pan is remembered in Hyde Park London.Peter Pan is a character created by Scottish novelist and playwright J. M. Barrie. A free spirited and mischievous young boy who can fly and never grows up, Peter Pan spends his never-ending childhood having adventures on the mystical island of Neverland as the leader of the Lost Boys, interacting with fairies, pirates, mermaids, Native American Indians, and occasionally ordinary children from the world outside Neverland. In addition to two distinct works by Barrie, the character has been featured in a variety of media and merchandise, both adapting and expanding on Barrie's works. These include a 1953 animated film, a 2003 dramatic/live-action film, a TV series and many other works.

London 33 - Hyde Park, Marble Arch, Peter Pan Statue, Italian Gardens, The Serpentine
htto://twitter.com/perezmarquinhos
Hyde Park is one of the largest parks in London, and one of the Royal Parks of London, famous for its Speakers' Corner.
The park was the site of the Great Exhibition of 1851, for which the Crystal Palace was designed by Joseph Paxton. The park has become a traditional location for mass demonstrations. The Chartists, the Reform League, the Suffragettes, and the Stop the War Coalition have all held protests in the park. Many protesters on the Liberty and Livelihood March in 2002 started their march from Hyde Park. On 20 July 1982 in the Hyde Park and Regents Park bombings, two bombs linked to the Provisional Irish Republican Army caused the death of eight members of the Household Cavalry and the Royal Green Jackets and seven horses.
The park is divided in two by the Serpentine and the Long Water. The park is contiguous with Kensington Gardens; although often still assumed to be part of Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens has been technically separate since 1728, when Queen Caroline made a division between the two. Hyde Park covers 142 hectares (350 acres)[2] and Kensington Gardens covers 111 hectares (275 acres),[3] giving an overall area of 253 hectares (625 acres), making the combined area larger than the Principality of Monaco (196 hectares or 480 acres), though smaller than the Bois de Boulogne in Paris (845 hectares, or 2090 acres), New York City's Central Park (341 hectares or 840 acres), and Dublin's Phoenix Park (707 hectares, or 1,750 acres). To the southeast, outside the park, is Hyde Park Corner. Although, during daylight, the two parks merge seamlessly into each other, Kensington Gardens closes at dusk but Hyde Park remains open throughout the year from 5 a.m. until midnight.
Hyde Park is the largest of four parks which form a chain from the entrance of Kensington Palace through Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park, via Hyde Park Corner and Green Park (19 hectares), past the main entrance to Buckingham Palace and then on through Saint James's Park (23 hectares) to Horse Guards Parade in Whitehall.

People in park looking at statue of Peter Pan. Women in long dresses looking positively Victorian. (But the play by JM Barrie was written in 1904; so it's definitely after that at least). Woman bends down to small child; points at statue.

In this London Guide Joolz Guides takes you to the beautiful Peter Pan Statue in Kensington Gardens, near Lancaster Gate.
The Peter Pan Statue is one of my favourite statues in London and it was unveiled by J.M. Barrie personally. The story is rather odd because officially the Peter Pan Statue does not exist. The authorities didn't give permisiion for it to be placed there but they did not refuse it either.
It also has a rather sad history which you can learn about here. J.M. Barrie wrote Peter Pan after having met some boys in the park with whom he used to play. He was like a second father to them. However, they mostly met a sticky end and hated their connection with Peter Pan.
