Petrovsky Stadium
The Petrovsky Stadium is a sports complex that consists of a number of buildings. One of them is the Grand Sport Arena which is the home of FC Zenit of Saint Petersburg, Russia and is commonly referred to as Petrovsky Stadium.
The complex also contains another football stadium, Minor Sport Arena. MSA of Petrovsky in 2008 was used by several teams that compete in lower professional leagues: FC Dynamo Saint Petersburg, FC Zenit-2 Saint Petersburg, and FC Sever Murmansk. The whole complex is located on the Petrograd side in central St. Petersburg on Petrovsky Island, an island in the Malaya Neva River connected to the adjacent Krestovsky and Petrogradsky islands through bridges.

The new VTB Stadium and Arena includes the redevelopment of the existing Dynamo Moscow stadium and its surrounding historic park. The entire development of the VTB Stadium and Arena Park is thought to be one of the largest projects that will be developed in the Russian Federation in the coming years. It will be a host venue for Russia's FIFA 2018 World Cup.
The existing Dynamo Moscow stadium is located at Petrovsky Park in the heart of Moscow, a site that has a rich history that goes back to the year 1782, when Catherina the Great ordered the construction of the Petrovsky Palace. The groundbreaking new design by MANICA Architecture integrates two levels of commercial retail within the historic walls of the old stadium and locates both the outdoor football stadium and the indoor multi-use arena together above the existing wall and new retail areas. This solution not only preserves the historic perimeter facade of the existing stadium but integrates it functionally and aesthetically into the new development.
To be financially self sustaining, VTB Stadium and Arena Park will also host a multitude of cultural, retail and entertainment facilities. The mix of sport and entertainment will create a profitable and vibrant destination 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The unique design allows the existing park to be completely preserved as a public green area. The addition of a state-of-the-art 125,000 sm amateur and professional sport training facility ensures that the VTB project will be the centerpiece of the development of all sport throughout the Russian Federation for decades to come.
The stadium will be fully FIFA compliant and offer expansion opportunities from 33,000 seats up to a maximum of 45,000 seats. The indoor arena will be compliant with IIHF and NBA Standards and offer expansion from a base configuration of 12,000 seats up to a maximum of 15,000 seats.
The project is currently anticipated to open in 2016.
