KRABI TO PHI PHI ISLAND BY FERRY - THAILAND

Getting to Phi Phi Island is pretty easy. This group of six islands is located 46km from Phuket and roughly the same distance from Krabi. To get to Phi Phi, there are basically two options: ferries and speedboats.
The ferry is by far the most popular method of reaching the islands. Ferries take about two hours from Phuket and 90 minutes from Krabi or Koh Lanta. The main departure/arrival port in Phuket is Rassada Pier, located in Phuket Town. In Krabi, the main ferry pier is Klong Jirad Pier, situated just south of Krabi Town. The ferry terminal is a one-hour drive from Phuket Airport and Krabi's is 30 minutes from Krabi Airport. To get good seats you should arrive well in advance in high season or half an hour before departure in low season.
If you are travelling from Bangkok, you need to get to one of these two piers to catch a ferry to Phi Phi. Once you arrive at the airport or at the Bokoso (inter-city bus station), you’ll have to take a taxi or a local bus to get to the ferry terminal. Please have a look at the Phuket and Krabi ferry schedules beforehand, so you can plan your trip accordingly.
Ferry departure times from Krabi’s Klong Jilad Pier are 9am, 10.30am, 1.30pm, and 3pm. The only exception is that the 3pm ferry actually departs at 4pm on Fridays.
The ferry journey is approximately 1.5 hours and you’ll arrive at the Tonsai Pier on Ko Phi Phi Don, the largest of the Phi Phi Islands. From here it’s just a short walk to many different places to stay or dine.
You can book ferry tickets from here:

Speedboat from Krabi to Phi Phi
Private speedboat transfer is the next most popular way of getting to Phi Phi. Basically, it's a private charter of a speedboat, so departure and drop-off points are a little more flexible and you can go right up to the front of your chosen resort, which can save a lot of time. For most of the year the ride is flat, but it's advisable to avoid speedboats in low season (from September to November) as things can get a little bumpy. Obviously, speedboats are more expensive than the ferry, but they can represent excellent value for larger groups as the cost of the boat hire is divided.

Mesmerizing Phi Phi Islands Tours , Phuket, Thailand
If you visit Phuket /Thailand, your trip is not complete if you don't visit the Phi Phi Islands tours on powerboats. You can find shops in every corner selling the tour packages, make sure to bargain for a better deals.

Maya Bay is a stunningly beautiful bay that's sheltered by 100-metre high cliffs on three sides. Inside the bay there are several beaches, most are small and some only exist at low tide. The main one is around 200 metres long with silky soft white sand, underwater colourful coral and exotic fish in exceptionally clear water; the whole bay is one big reef.
Maya Bay has become the main tourist attraction of Phi Phi since The Beach was filmed here in 1999. It was always very popular before the film but now people around the world who haven't even heard of Phi Phi have certainly heard of Maya Bay.
The best time to visit Maya Bay is between November and April during the high season when seas are calm and access to the bay is easy. Rough seas from May to October may hinder access but rarely deny entry. The bad news; as it's so beautiful and so well known many boats are required to ferry all the visitors in and out. On any given day at any time there will be 30 + speedboats and longtail boats on the beach, with large ferry boats carrying hundreds of snorkelers and sightseers moored in deeper water. Beautiful it is, secluded it isn't – thousands of people visit each day. Try to visit early in the morning or after 17:00 and you'll avoid the crowds. Please note that if you enter the bay on your own there is a National Park entry fee of 400 baht. This cost is included in the price of a tour.
The last part of the tour we stopped at Rang Yai Island which is a peaceful island lying about five kilometers off the east coast of Phuket. Its western side has a one-km long beach that is frequented in the afternoon by day trippers coming back from visiting the phi phi islands tours

This gives you an idea about the cost of food on Koh Phi Phi Island.
To be honest, when you consider you are sitting in the middle of the Andaman Sea, miles away from the mainland, on arguably one of the most beautiful islands in the world...$6 for a dinner really isn't all that bad.
The other day when I was in Norway, I paid $21 for a single beer lol. I can handle $6 on a beautiful island.
I hope this helps someone, somewhere.

Phi Phi Islands, Thailand
Follow us as we take a boat ride out to the famous Phi Phi Islands.
We started by visiting Maya Beach first made famous in the movie The Beach staring Leonardo De Caprio. Unfortunately the rumors are true and the beach is closed for tourists. Tours get close, and you can view the beach, but you are kept a far distance from the actual beach.
Our day trip continues to Bamboo Islands for some delicious lunch. We spend a few hours on the white sugar sand beach taking pictures and relaxing. This is a place you just want to stay and never return from.
The next place we travel to is the beautiful Pileh Lagoon. Pileh Lagoon is a magical place surrounded by rock formations and beautiful clear turquoise sparkling water. The picture used for the thumbnail is from this location.
Our final stop before returning to Ko Lanta was Phi Phi Island where all the hotels and tourist shops are just waiting for tourists. We had about 90 minutes to look around and grab a quick bite to eat.

Phi Phi Island - Phuket
Phi Phi Island is Thailand's island-superstar. It's been in the movies. It's the topic of conversation for travelers all over Thailand. For some, it's the only reason to touchdown in Phuket. Even with all the hype, it doesn't disappoint. Phi Phi's beauty is a large chunk of the allure. The islands, when approached by boat, rise from the sea like a fortress. Sheer cliffs tower overhead, then give way to beach-fronted jungle. It's love at first sight. The second part of the why-we-love-this-place story is attitude: few places on the planet are this laid-back. Of the two islands located near Phuket and Krabi, one is completely free of human inhabitants (Phi Phi Leh), and the other is without roads (Phi Phi Don). There's no schedule, no hustle-and-bustle, no reason to be in a hurry.
The Phi Phi islands are some of the loveliest in Southeast Asia. Thailand New Years Singles Vacation - A Travel Postcard
What to do in Krabi | Four Islands Trip - Thap, Chicken, Poda, and Phanang Islands
| A family's gap year travel blog
We were in Krabi and Ao Nang, Thailand, in October 2017 during our gap year travels with kids. There are lots of attractions in the Krabi province, but the one you should really try out is the four island tour. We saw Thap, Chicken, Poda, and Phanang Islands.
Initially we were sceptical whether we should to the tour as there are some attractions that are hyped up but turn out not to be too impressive (Emerald Pool, looking at you). We were also a bit worried about our 3 and 6 year olds being able to withstand such a trip (from 8AM to 2PM). Once we saw the first island, we knew we would have been very sorry if we wouldn’t take this trip. The experience was very… can’t even find the proper word for it. It’s unbelievable that the islands look at least as good in real life as they do on the postcards. The experience is made even nicer by the warm water and the sand on most beaches.
Practical tips if you're travelling with toddlers and kids:
* The official price for adults is around 1200 Baht per person + you have to pay the National Parks Fee of 400 Baht per person (200 for a child).
* Consider getting a private boat. It gives so much more flexibility and you can adjust the trip to the family’s needs and whims, like staying longer in a place to play. We got our boat for 2000 baht through a local fisherman. The total cost was 3000 Baht, as everyone has to pay the National Parks Entry fee.
* When it comes to paying for kids in sightseeing objects, there’s a strong arbitrary element at play; sometimes we have to pay for the oldest child, very rarely for both of them, and there are times when kids go free.
* Mandatory preparation: take lots of sunscreen, drinking water and at least some food. It’s only possible to buy supplies on Poda island (at a tourist surcharge) and the offer was limited.

Looking for some fun things to do on Phi Phi Island, Thailand? Well, this give you an idea of what there is to do.
3 Main Phi Phi Activities:
A) Party. This is literally a giant party island. I don't really enjoy the party scene - so I stayed out of it. But, if you consider that fun, you will literally have an absolute blast! Partying here seems nonstop.
B) Snorkel/Swim/Scuba Dive. I went on a snorkeling tour. Prices was something like $20 or $30 US, and it was like 10 hours of beautiful scenery. Buy the tour the day before you want to go. There are 1 million people selling tours. Do not book tours online as you are being overcharged by probably 5 or 10x. Seriously. Stay away.
C) Relax. There are so many beaches you can visit by boat, or even right on the mainland. Rent a boat and simply go hang out for a while. Drinks and food are everywhere to be purchased. Very easy.
I spent 3 full days in Koh Phi Phi, Thailand. 2 of the 3 days were raining buckets of water, all day. I luckily hit these beautiful locations the day prior to the rainstorm. I was lucky for once lol
THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACE ON EARTH // Phi Phi Islands, Thailand
This has been on my bucket list and I finally crossed it off! This place is so surreal and I felt like I was in a postcard. The colors were so bright and vibrant that my eyes started to hurt a little. Okay, maybe that was just the lack of sleep but I'm not joking about how eye grabbing it was.
This tour definitely beat the 7 island tour by 7x. I got to feed a monkey guys!!!! A monkey took a watermelon slice out of my hand and ATE IT. I wanted to name it Bananas and take it home but I really didn't want rabies.

Dream Destinations That Don’t Live Up to the Hype
We hate to burst your bubble, but sometimes travel fantasies are a bit out of touch with reality. You may have a preconceived notion of what a famous landmark, location or attraction will be like, inspired by scenic postcards, glossy brochures and carefully curated websites that fuel your wanderlust. But when you actually go there, it’s a bit of a let down. When hitting the world’s hot spots, it’s best to keep grandiose expectations in check.
1. Gazing at the Mona Lisa
On the must-see list of every tourist in Paris is the Louvre Museum and its famous da Vinci masterpiece, The Mona Lisa.
The trouble is, it’s a lot smaller than most people think, and the mosh pit of other tourists pushing to get their token glimpse kind of takes the grandeur out of the experience.
2. Enjoying a Romantic Gondola Ride in Venice
The reality is that it’s more like bumper boats along these waterways, as the canals are clogged with these pricey vessels. It costs about €80 for a 20-minute ride, and even more if you want a song. No local Venetian would ever be caught in one of these tourist traps.
3. Strolling the Great Wall of China
The breathtaking Great Wall of China is on many a traveler’s wishlist.
The truth is it’s more Disneyland than Ming Dynasty these days. The Badaling section closest to Beijing gets up to 70,000 visitors per day, and is complete with cable cars, pulley rides, tchotchke shops and snack bars. The less crowded Mutianyu section has cable cars and a slideway down, which may sound like fun to some visitors but it really takes away from the majesty of this historic site.
4. Soaking In an Idyllic Beach in Thailand
Stunning Maya Bay on Ko Phi Phi Lay, in particular, is the fantasy setting from The Beach that many travelers dream of escaping to.
The problem is hordes of travelers descend upon this bay, and its very popularity is what makes it less than idyllic.
5. Being Transfixed by the Taj Mahal
You can’t go to Agra, India without seeing the Taj Mahal, the marble mausoleum built by Shah Jahan in 1631 in memory of his favorite wife.
However, like most must-see attractions, you’re not going to be able to snap a selfie here without masses of other selfie-snapping tourists clamoring in the background. That and the air pollution kind of tarnishes the romance of the place.
6. Perusing the Pyramids of Giza
The reality is there’s a Pizza Hut and KFC about 300 yards north of the Sphinx. It’s also not quite the serene desertscape of your imagination. It surprises a lot of people that the Pyramids of Giza are right on the edge of a bustling, congested city. What would Tut think?
7. Tossing Coins into the Trevi Fountain
When in Rome, you simply have to stop by the Trevi Fountain to toss your coins in, just like in the movies Roman Holiday, Three Coins in the Fountain and La Dolce Vita. Bernini’s Baroque masterpiece beckons.
You’ll definitely be rubbing shoulders with masses of other coin tossers, though. With great crowds come great pickpockets, so keep your guard up while rummaging for change here. Note, gelato sellers jack their prices up around touristy places like this, too, so you might want to get your fix elsewhere.
8. Trekking to the Top of the World in Everest
Many intrepid adventurers set their sights on conquering mighty Mount Everest, or at least trekking to basecamp to see this pristine Himalayan peak up close.
Sadly, it’s not all that pristine around the world’s tallest mountain. In fact, it has the unfortunate nickname of “the world’s highest garbage dump.” Climbers often leave litter, empty oxygen bottles, shredded tents and other materials out there in their quest to make it back alive. And speaking of, there are quite a few dead bodies up there from the poor souls who didn’t make it. They say the average climber generates around 18 pounds of garbage, and they are starting to crack down on those who don’t bring back what they took up.
If you think you’ll be relatively alone at the top of the world, think again. These days, summiting Everest is a big business, and there can be traffic jams of climbers snaking their way up the peak.
9. Soaking in Iceland’s Blue Lagoon
Iceland is no longer off the beaten track, and their tourist boom has encouraged many travelers to discover it’s natural wonders like the geothermal mineral baths of the Blue Lagoon.
Located a short drive from the airport, lots of tourists are bused here during layovers, so the waters are usually pretty thick with other travel-weary bodies. It’s still pretty impressive, if you don’t mind soaking in “people soup.” Ask a local for a recommendation of a less-touristy hot spring or thermal pool if you are seeking a more authentic, less crowded mineral dip. Iceland is full of them.
