The monument of Philip II today is set to square - karposhovo rebellion against the Church of St. Demetrius. Hi is made in the Italian bronze foundry Buastini. Author of the monument is skulptor Valentina Stevanovska. Monumenthas a height of 13 meters and under Pillar Fountain is 16 meters high. Philip II of Macedonia the view is facing the monument Alexander. Citizens say they like the monument.
The monument is ideal.
Within the monument will have three small fountains cast in bronze and marble, which will be introduced whit plants of Macedonian region. In the one of the fountains will be placed 4 women with their sons. The entire project cost 5 million euros.

In this episode, David takes us around Macedonia to show us what to see and do in Bitola.
The city of Bitola is a mix of ancient and modern traditions. It is small enough to easily explore by foot, and will give you the opportunity to get very familiar Macedonian culture. Heraclea Lyncestis is an ancient site just 2 kilometers from Bitola. It is known for its Greek and Roman architecture, especially its colorful mosaic floors, which are exceptional examples of early Christian art. Don’t forget to admire the amphitheater during your visit to the site.
Magnolia Square is the main square of Bitola. There are several landmarks surrounding the square: Mosque, the Clock Tower, statue of Phillip II of Macedon (in the center of the square) and the beginning of Sirok Sokak, the main pedestrian boulevard of the city.
While exploring around Bitola, you have to stroll through the Old Bazaar. This is one of the city’s most important cultural and social meeting points. Stop at the fruit and vegetable market of the Old Bazaar. It’s really quite colorful and lively. See what produce is in season when you go!
The Old Bazaar is a place to get daily errands done and a great opportunity to purchase souvenirs. Next up on David’s tour is the Museum of Bitola, which holds ancient artifacts and memorabilia from the Balkan struggle for independence. The museum itself used to be a military academy. There are several exhibits and halls dedicated to the academy's most famous student - Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, also known as the first president of Turkey and “Father of the Turks”.
Sirok Sokak Street is the perfect place to get a coffee and people watch. It’s a Must-Do when in Bitola. If you don’t, it’s like you were never here.
Right outside the city (5-minute drive) is the village of Dihovo, which is a great place to visit on a day trip. Villa Dihovo is a unique experience for all who visit. If you choose to come here to dine, you’ll enjoy a pleasant array of Macedonian specialties and refreshing salads made from vegetable grown on the property. Villa Dihovo is also a bed and breakfast. The only thing with a fixed price here is the alcohol, which is definitely something you don’t see every day.
David also visited a bee farm in Dihovo and was able to try the honey straight out of the comb. The bee farm also sells honey in jars, which is a great gift to take back home with you. Give yourself an extra day in Bitola so you want to enjoy the flora and fauna of nearby Pelister National Park. Hiking is the most popular activity here.

A Fast Stop in Lively Bitola, Macedonia
Bitola was an important junction connecting the south of the Adriatic Sea with the Aegean Sea and Central Europe; an important consulate city, trade center for the Roman Empire and second largest city in Macedonia.
Unfortunately, we only had one hour in lively Bitola that has many historic sights to see as well as a pedestrian street lined with restaurants and cafes. This walking area led past wonderful Art Deco architecture that is, believe it or not, undamaged.
There is an imposing Statue of King Phillip II, Clock tower, an old Bedestan, synagogue which we could not manage to locate and a Film Festival is held yearly, dedicated to the Monarki brothers who went to California in 1903-1904 and came back with the first movie camera. Definitely not enough time in Bitola.

Alexander statue stokes FYROM EU row
A 22m statue of Alexander the Great in Skopje has stoked a bitter 20-year-old row between FYROM and Greece, potentially delaying FYROMacedonia's efforts to join the EU and Nato.
The Greeks say Alexander was a Hellenic hero and that FYROM is stealing their heritage.

Royal grave site of the lost ancient kingdom of Pelagonia found in the Republic of Macedonia - Откриена изгубената престолнина Пелагонија

Latest discoveries by archaeologists have shown a massive royal grave site in a village known as Bonce in Macedonia, one of a kind in the Balkans, which has led them to suggest that the locality may be the long lost kingdom of Pelagonia.
The grave site was discovered by a team led by Professor Viktor Lilcic.
According to the way this was built, the brilliance behind it, and just from the sheer size of the grave site, we believe the king of Pelagonia had been buried here, said Dr. Antonio Jakimovski, coordinator of the Archeological Research.
The grave site is from the 4th century B.C. when the kingdom of the Pelagonians was around. It was suggested the site had been robbed even in Antic times.
This is one of the rarest gravesites not just in the Balkans, but globally that goes back to the 4th century BC, said Jakimovski.
The site is located right underneath the hill of Visoka where it is suggested to be the site of the city of Pelagonia.
Unfortunately, the Government did not allocate funds this year for the Visoka location.
Archeologists have been searching for the city of Pelagonia and the Pelagonian kingdom for more than 150 years.
This find will undoubtedly make funds available for Visoka in 2009.
Just two years ago, near the hill of Visoka were discovered three Macedonian Shields of King Demetrij with the Vergina Sun embedded on them. The shields are currently undergoing restorations.
When completed, the world will see for the first time how did the shields of the Macedonian phalanx look like.

Stone town of Kuklica is a very very intresting place in Macedonia ???????? .
This is very old place where you can hear interesting story about stoned wedding. Here you will see this figures of the people in the stones.
According to the legend they are the people who were on the wedding and been stoned by a girl.
A village girl was desperately in love with a young man but he decided to marry another girl
and so the forlorn lover threw a curse on the newlyweds. When the wedding day came everything seemed perfectly fine: relatives and other guests arrived and the celebration began.
The moment the newlyweds kissed the curse took effect and all the people at the wedding party were petrified stone.

Aiani was the capital of Elimiotis, a kingdom and region of Upper Macedonia, which became part of Macedon in early 4th century BC.
Since 1983, systematic excavations in the area have brought to light finds that attest the existence of an organised city from the 2nd millennium BC to 100 BC. These are now housed in the Aiani Archaeological Museum. The excavations in the city of Aiani, brought to light the oldest pieces of matt-painted (black and white) pottery ever found. Some of the pottery dates back to the 14th century BC (Μycenaean era). Amongst the pottery, some of the oldest samples of writing were found. Amongst them we have names inscribed like Πλεόνα (Pleona) and Θέμιδα (Themida), which prove that the society of that region of Macedonia, spoke and wrote Greek before the 5th century BC. A single example of linear writing similar to that of southern Greece has been found, but its significance still remains unknown.

The Greek contention regarding Macedonian ancient history - Documentary
This is the true view of the Greeks about 30 years ago regarding the Macedonian ancient history. Only two years prior the Republic of Macedonia became a state of its own the Greeks changed the view of the Macedonian ancient history and began appropriating as theirs in addition they renamed the occupied part of Macedonia back to its historical name Macedonia from Northern Greece.
Why?
Because Greece is concealing the crimes and atrocities committed against the Macedonians and the illegal partitioning of Macedonia. Before1913 Macedonians in that region of Macedonia were majority of the population however, soon after the partition of Macedonia the Greeks exiled and assimilated the Macedonians in addition the resettlement of minor Asia with Greeks to Macedonia made the Macedonian population a minority in their own country.
The reason to appropriating the Macedonian history as theirs also lays in the fact that they create artificial name issue thus distancing the real issues and problems from the truth as mentioned above.
Today Greece even though in the European Union does not recognise Macedonian population and refer to them as natives, Skopians, and other names but simply Macedonians.
Where are the rights of self-determination as confirmed by the EU in Greece?
Shame on Greece and the EU for supporting Greece in the artificial name issue!

The Ashmolean and the University of Oxford
The Ashmolean is a University Museum and a Department of the University, which owns the collections and employs the museum staff. The Museum has very close links with the faculties, and the colleges, and museum staff undertake a great deal of University teaching and research. The Museum's Collections are also an important teaching and research resource for scholars and students from other institutions both in this country and abroad.
Undergraduate degree courses at Oxford University involving museum staff and collections include bachelors degrees in Archaeology and Anthropology; Ancient and Modern History; Classical and Ancient History; Egyptology and Ancient Near Eastern Studies; Classics; History of Art; Fine Art; Arabic, Persian and Turkish; Islamic Art and Archaeology. In many cases dissertation topics for these degrees are based on Museum collections.
Postgraduate courses using the Museum collections and staff include Masters degrees in European Archaeology; World Archaeology; Landscape Archaeology; Professional Archaeology; Greek and/or Roman History; Classical Archaeology; Byzantine Studies; Cuneiform Studies; Egyptology; History of Art; Islamic Art and Archaeology; Modern Chinese Art and Literature. Masters students often continue their studies in these areas basing doctoral theses on the museum collections, supervised by museum staff.
In addition the Ashmolean hopes soon to offer elective courses to medical students (Ancient Medicine, Ways of Seeing and Observing), as well as providing a cultural resource independently of set courses. All undergraduates of Oxford and Oxford Brookes Universities receive an invitation to a special evening event in the museum in their first year.

In the groundbreaking exhibition 'Heracles to Alexander the Great' the Ashmolean will show more than 500 extraordinary objects, most of which go on display for the first time anywhere in the world. These recent finds were discovered in the royal burial tombs and the palace at Aegae, the ancient capital of Macedon. They rewrite the history of early Greece and tell the story of the royal court and the kings and queens of Macedon, descendants of Heracles whose rule culminated in the empire of Alexander the Great. Aegae remained relatively unknown until 30 years ago when excavations uncovered the unlooted tombs of Philip II and his grandson Alexander IV. Recent work at the site by the 17th Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities, and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, has continued to unearth a startling wealth of objects -- from beautifully intricate gold jewellery, silverware and pottery, to sculpture, mosaic floors and architectural remains.

Macedonia skeleton, Slave Makedonski
Slave Makedonski is the name of the neolitic skeleton found at the year 2008 near the town of Stip in the eastern part of the Republic of Macedonia. According to the C14 analysis at the University of Glasgow he has lived at the time around 6.745 years BC. That makes him one of the oldest ever found human remains on the Balkans, i.e. Southeastern Europe. These human remains are exposed at the Museum of Stip since May 2009.
Ohrid, Macedonia. The best touristic spot in Macedonia
Ohrid is Macedonia's most attractive destination, with an atmospheric old quarter cascading down a hill, full of beautiful churches and topped by the ruins of a medieval castle.
The town is notable for once having had 365 churches, one for each day of the year, and has been referred to as a Jerusalem of the Balkans. The city is rich in picturesque houses and monuments, and tourism is predominant. In 1980, Ohrid and Lake Ohrid were accepted as Cultural and Natural World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.
Samuel's Fortress is one of the main touristic places. The fortress is situated in the old town center. It was the capital of the First Bulgarian Empire during the rule of Tsar Samuel at the turn of the 10th century. Today, this historical monument is a major tourist attraction and was renovated in 2003.
According to recent excavations by Macedonian archaeologists, it was contended that this fortress was built on the place of an earlier fortification, dated to the 4th century BCE, which was probably built by King Philip II of Macedon.
Antique Theater is the only visible monument from ancient times. It is also the only Hellenistic theater in Macedonia, the other three are from Roman times. Only the lower section of the theater is preserved.
Though Ohrid never was an important trade center, it also has a small bazaar consisting of just one street. It starts with the food market. After the market the bazaar begins with a small square. On the square there is a 1000 year old tree and a nice fountain. Above the square the clock tower of Ohrid stands.
As you walk down the bazaar on your left there are couple of stone stores, which is the only section of original stores in the bazaar. In the past, the bazaar was covered with grape vines, protecting shoppers from the sun and the rain. The bazaar ends with the main square that used to be the food market in the past.
Lake Ohrid is one of Europe's deepest and oldest lakes, preserving a unique aquatic ecosystem that is of worldwide importance, with more than 200 endemic species. It also has lots of swans that are clearly got used posing for tourists.
Generally speaking, the town of Ohrid is perhaps the most popular tourist destination in the country, which is largely due to the beaches and atmosphere.
The ancient city of Stobi - North Macedonia
The ancient city of Stobi is one of the most significant and well-known archaeological sites in the Republic of North Macedonia. The archaeological remains within the city walls occupy 27 hectares on three terraces . Stobi was established on the crossing point of the major vital trade routes that led from the Danube river to the Aegean Sea. The old city of Stobi was the largest city in the northern part of the Roman province Macedonia, later capital city of the Roman province Macedonia Secunda, an important administrative, urban, military, trade and religious center of two large empires: Roman and Early Byzantine. The town of Stobi was built in the Hellenic period, before the rule of the Macedonian king Philip the Fifth. This crossroad of ancient civilizations has left a rich historical and cultural legacy of the Stobi antique theaters, palace ruins, basilicas, brightly-colored mosaics and religious relics for visitors to enjoy today. Today, the remains of this famous archaeological site are equally easily approachable from the E-75 corridor of the international highway, thus making it very popular tourist destination in the Republic of North Macedonia.
