Philosopher's Path (Walk) Cherry Blossoms Kyoto | VEDA DAY 3 | Japan Vlog 45 | Lin Nyunt
We finally got to the Philosopher's Path in Kyoto, known as one of the best spots to see cherry blossoms (sakura). It surely didn't disappoint.
We also visited my favourite spot for cherry blossoms in Kyoto, Keage Incline but the light was dying by that time. Still it was gorgeous.

DEEPER INTO KYOTO: PHILOSOPHER'S PATH - Kyoto, Japan Vlog Ep 61
Philosopher's path (walk) is a cool stretch of path and canal that extends for a mile in the northeastern side of Kyoto. While many tourists are drawn to temples and shrines of Kyoto, places like this also leaves a symbolic footprint of Kyoto's long history.

A walk along the Philosopher's Path canal in Kyoto, Japan
Not far from Ginkaku-ji (Silver Pavilion) is the Philosopher's Path, a pleasant pathway along a canal through the Higashiyama district. In the fall, the colors are stunning. In April, the area is popular for the cherry blossoms. The path is about two kilometers (1.24 miles) long.

Kyoto Vlog | Day 2: Ginkakuji, Kiyomizudera, Philosopher's Walk & the Pontocho District
✩ TEMPLES, SHRINES & ALL SORTS OF FOOD ✩
Day 2, saw and ate so much I’m not even kidding. Visited the Ginkakuji (Silver Pavilion), Kiyomizudera, Yasaka Shrine; made a peaceful stroll down the Philosopher's Walk, frolicked in the Pontocho district, and made a tad too many trips to the convenience store.

Amazing Walk Through the Philosopher's Path - Kyoto, Japan | Travel Video (4K)
An almost 40 minutes capture of walking the amazing Philosopher's Walk.
The Philosopher's Walk is a pedestrian path that follows a cherry-tree-lined canal in Kyoto, between Ginkaku-ji and Nanzen-ji. The route is so-named because the influential 20th-century Japanese philosopher and Kyoto University professor Nishida Kitaro is thought to have used it for daily meditation.

District - Philosopher's Path in Kyoto
Rent a house near the Philosopher's Path :
The Philosopher's Path is the most famous walks in Kyoto and connects the silver pavilion with the splendid Nanzenji temple district. At the foot of Mount Daïmonji, the path follows a canal bordered by cherry trees, small cafés, craft shops and restaurants. Lots of visitors come when the cherry and maple trees are in bloom and enjoy this wonderful spectacle.

A beautiful pedestrian and bike path that meanders alongside a canal in the foothills of Kyoto. The path will also pass several temples.
Philosophers Walk, Kyoto, Japan, October 26, 2013
One of the great walks you can do in Kyoto is to follow the Philosopher's Walk. The walk is a recommended one and is located in the north east part of the city with some of the most beautiful temples in Kyoto. We took a taxi to the starting point because it is only covered by subway at the one end.
We started at the Ginkakuji temple (Silver pavilion). This temple is so large and so beautiful that you can easily spent hours there. Because of the autumn the leaves on the trees were changing colors and this just added to the magic.
We walked from there along the small stream to see the Eikando temple where it is possible to walk inside much of the temple.
Finally we came to the Nanzenji temple with its huge main structure. We only managed to see little here due to it was already late in the day. We then walked to the subway station that was located close by.
Please note that the number of tourists in this area can be very high, so I recommend starting early in the day or visit Kyoto off season.

Sakura, cherry blossoms – whatever you call them, these little beautiful things are probably one of the most famous tourist attractions of Japan. I took a walk along the Philosopher's path in Kyoto which is a famous spot to view the blossoms, and even better it's just down the road from Ginkakuji, or the silver pavillion, so it's super easy to get there.
The path winds it's way alongside a canal, past traditional homes, cafes and restaurants and there are plenty of other temples and shrines along the way to explore.
I also went in to one of my favourite little shrines – Otoya shrine – which is a little out of the way and has some spectacular sakura and some super cute shrine guardians which are worth taking a look at.

JAPAN VLOGS - Kyoto Day 2 Ginkakuji Temple, Kiyomizudera Temple, Gion District & Shinkansen to Tokyo
Welcome to this new series of JAPAN VLOGS!!! Join me every Wednesday 5pm for a new Japan vlog. I film every day from our trip in September 2019 showing you Kyoto, Tokyo, Shinjuku, Shibuya, Mount Fuji, Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo DisneySea. Hope you enjoy!!
It is our second day in Kyoto! We are staying at the Dormy Inn near Kyoto Station so we have breakfast at Deli Cafe at the station. Today we explore Eastern Kyoto. There is lots to do in East Kyoto. We start by getting the bus to the furthest point which is Ginkakuji Temple (aka the Silver Pavilion). We loved the walk up and the view of Kyoto from the top. Then we walk Philosopher's Path. Philosopher's Path is full of beautiful temples. We stop at Honen-in temple, Kounji (Koun-ji) Temple, Eikando (Eikan-do) Temple, Nanzenji (Nanzen-ji) temple, Chion-in Temple (chionin). We stop off at the old Aqueduct (Nanzenji Suirokaku) then walk through Maruyama Park. In Maruyama Park is the Kodaiji (kodai-ji) Temple. Then we walk through the old streets of Kyoto and find Yasaka Pagoda. We go to a Japanese Starbucks, Starbucks in Japan is so cute! Also Hard Rock Cafe Kyoto too. The main temple was Kiyomizudera. It was stunning! (Kiyomizu-dera). We walk home through the Gion District and see Gion Corner. We stumble upon our last temple Kenninji Temple (Kennin-ji) It was lovely. After a long day of temples and exploring we check out of the Dormy Inn and head back to Kyoto Station. At Kyoto station we reserve our seats for our bullet train (shinkansen) to Tokyo! We get off at Shinagawa to then change trains for Shinjuku. We check into our hotel at Shinjuku called Citadines Central Shinjuku. I give a little tour of our room in Shinjuku. I also talk about and reflect on our time at Kyoto. Hope you enjoy!! So many things to do in Kyoto!!!

The Philosopher's Walk (哲学の道 Tetsugaku-no-michi, lit. Path of Philosophy) is a pedestrian path that follows a cherry-tree-lined canal in Kyoto, between Ginkaku-ji and Nanzen-ji. The route is so-named because the influential 20th-century Japanese philosopher and Kyoto University professor Nishida Kitaro is thought to have used it for daily meditation. It passes a number of temples and shrines such as Hōnen-in, Ōtoyo Shrine, and Eikan-dō Zenrin-ji. It takes about 30 minutes to complete the walk, although many people spend more time visiting the sights along the way. On the northern part of the walk, there are good views of the nearby Daimonji. The walk is a popular destination for tourists and locals, especially during hanami.
The Philosopher's Walk is the setting for the video game Haiku by Flaminia Grimaldi. The art game's opening screen includes the line, You sit by the river Tetsugaku-no-Michi. In the game, a player chooses among various lines of poetry to craft a haiku.

Philosopher's Walk - Kyoto, Japan
One morning while in Japan, I woke up in a panic when I realized I forgot to charge the batteries to my Canon 7D. We were leaving in 5 minutes, so I decided to atleast grab my Flip Mino HD to record some of the memories. I was so moved and caught up in where I was and what I was seeing that I almost forgot to record anything. When I got back to my hotel I threw this together on my netbook w/ moviemaker..
