Getting Around in Phuket
Getting Around in Phuket Thailand is easy! Most of the beach resorts are small enough to walk around and most hotels are located close to the beach, restaurants and shopping areas. However, if you feel like doing a little exploring around the island but your hotel is not on one of the main beaches, there are a number of transport options for you to choose from, including public buses, which are air-conditioned “micro” buses that service the Phuket Town area. And then there’s private bus services, known as “Songthaew”. But these blue pick-up trucks, decked with bench seats and a cover, run along set routes, but will stop anywhere along the way to drop off or pick up passengers. Songthaew buses leave from Ranong Road and serve most of the island with a regular service, travelling between the hub at Phuket Town and the destination.
Typically, but not always, the destination is written in English on a sign on the side of the bus. A number of pink Songthaew buses also run on two routes from Phuket City to Big C and Tesco, and Super Cheap to Chaofa Road. If the bus is moving, it is necessary to wave at the driver to signal him or her to stop and allow new passengers to get on. Payment is made to the driver when disembarking the bus. To get off, signal the driver by ringing the bell. The fare is typically between 15 to 35 thai baht for a designated route depending on the distance travelled.
There are few metered taxis operating on the island, and can generally be found outside of Phuket airport to the right of the main terminal building. Before starting any journey it is suggested to try and insist the fare meter be turned on if it is not switched on already. If this is not possible, it may be necessary to negotiate a fare. For shorter trips in and around Phuket Town, you may want to consider a motorbike taxi – which costs about 20 baht per person, depending on the distance. For those in the mood for a little island hopping, speedboats or long tail boats are also available from Chalong Bay pier or Rawai beach in the south of the island. Individual tickets may be purchased or an entire boat may be chartered. Tickets can be arranged on arrival or as part of a package from a travel agent in Phuket.
There are many car rental services on Phuket. Cars or jeeps can be rented at the airport, in Phuket Town, and at most of the more popular beaches. Do keep in mind that while most international car rental agencies will offer you a full-overage insurance, while some local companies may or may not. Another option would be to rent a bike, but for around 150 to 300 baht per day you can hire your own 100-150cc motorbike, which will typically require you to leave your passport as a deposit.
Be sure to inspect bikes before rental, put on a helmet, and drive with extreme caution as rental motorbikes are not normally insured and accidents are frequent. Regardless, inspect rental vehicles prior to rental and drive with caution, particularly as traffic in Thailand can be quite confusing. Motorcycles can be rented from rental agencies located on Rasada Road or from different operators at various beaches.

So we hired a taxi in Phuket...
Fun times!
My AIRBNB Experience | THE BLISS PATONG Condominium | PHUKET THAILAND Travel Guide 2020
We are here now in The Bliss Condominium in Phrabarami Road, Tambon Patong, Amphoe Kathu, Chang Wat Phuket, Thailand. I booked this place in AirBNB for 3 nights and 4 days. And it costs me $162.87 or BHT4,922.12 . Prices changed regularly depends of the season, they increase the price here especially during summer vacations and December Christmas holidays.
The Bliss Condominium takes 45 minutes to 1 hour by taxi from the airport. And it is located up hill so you need to tell your driver to send you all the way through the entrance lobby coz it’s really hard for you to walk up with your luggage.
This studio apartment in Patong Phuket is ideal for couples and families seeking all the comforts of home with great facilities. And it’s location is just close enough to walk to the soft white sands of the beach and the vibrant nightlife district on Bangla Road and yet far enough to escape the hustle and bustle of the city streets.
If you will be staying here, you will have a free access of the gym, rooftop swimming pool and garden. And by the way, their rooftop pool is really amazing. I really had a chance to relax there every morning and at night after we strolled around Phuket.
My stay in this amazing condominium was one of my memorable moments. When I travel before, I always booked my room in a 4 or 5 start hotels coz I always want to have a peace of mind and of course I always like to swim in the pool every morning before I start my day. But here you can get what you want. A peaceful and quite environment, neat and stylish bedroom, a complete kitchen stuff and a dining table. But even if we didn’t use the cooking materials, but woooh!!! It’s great to have those stuff.. And the host of this studio apartment, she’s really alert everytime you asked her or message her, she’ll respond immediately.
The place is on the hill, about 5 minutes walk down on the highway. But it’s great if you will rent a scooter or a motorbike coz it will not cost you a lot of money compare to calling a taxi or taking a Tuk-Tuk. This place is really amazing and I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to stay and travel to Phuket.

Arriving at Phuket International Airport - Phuket Airport Information - Air Travel Video
Arriving at Phuket International Airport in Thailand (HKT). If this is your first visit to Phuket Airport International Passenger Terminal you should find this video helpful for getting an idea of the airport procedures when you arrive at Phuket International Airport in Thailand.
This Phuket International Airport Arrival footage is filmed from the disembarkation of our flight (a Thai Airways Flight from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport), through the walk to the arrivals area where we book and pay for a private taxi to drive us to Patong Beach one of the main beach areas in Phuket.
Our walk begins where we have just disembarked our plane and are walking through Phuket Airport´s new International Passenger Terminal towards the International Baggage Claim Area and Customs. WE do not have to pass through Immigration (Passport Control) as we have already done that in Bangkok. We arrived at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport with a Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt and therefore we passed through Immigration before boarding our next flight to Phuket. We were given a sticker to wear which informed staff at Phuket International Airport that even though we were arriving on a Domestic Flight from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport our luggage had not yet passed Customs and therefore it had to be picked up in the International Baggage Arrivals Area. Our arrival walk through the Phuket Airport Terminal eventually brings us to the International Baggage Claim Area. From there we pass through Customs and then make our way to one of the transportation desks offering taxi and minibus services to some of the many tourist destinations on Phuket Island, places like Patong Beach, Kata Beach and Karon Beach. The video ends as we walk out of the new Phuket Airport Arrivals area and make our way to the taxi which will drive us to Patong Beach.
We found the new Phuket Airport International Terminal to be very modern and easy to navigate. The Phuket International Arrivals Hall was also easy to find your way out of.
Wiki Writes about Phuket Airport, Phuket International Airport (Thai: ท่าอากาศยานภูเก็ต) is an international airport serving the Phuket Province of Thailand. It is in the north of Phuket Island, 32 kilometres from the centre of Phuket City. The airport plays a major role in Thailand's tourism industry, as Phuket Island is a popular resort destination. It is the third-busiest airport in Thailand in terms of passengers, after Suvarnabhumi Airport and Don Mueang International Airport in the Bangkok Metropolitan Region... The airport has two terminals: Terminal 1 is used for international flights, and Terminal 2 for domestic flights. Terminal X for charter flights opened in February 2014... The capacity of the new international terminal is five million passengers per year...
Wiki writes about Phuket, Phuket (Thai: ภูเก็ต, [pʰūː.kèt] is one of the southern provinces (changwat) of Thailand. It consists of the island of Phuket, the country's largest island, and another 32 smaller islands off its coast. It lies off the west coast of Thailand in the Andaman Sea. Phuket Island is connected by the Sarasin Bridge to Phang Nga Province to the north. The next nearest province is Krabi, to the east across Phang Nga Bay... Phuket Province has an area of 576 square kilometres (222 sq mi), somewhat less than that of Singapore.
