5 American Kids in Barcelona #1 | CloudMom
In the first video from our big trip to Europe, today I show what we learned about Barcelona public transport and Barcelona attractions we saw, including el Barca! Watch for more!
Hola! Going to be saying that for a few weeks, my dear mamas, while we are here in Spain! So here is video #2 from our summer family adventure to Spain. One of my major worries in planning our trip was transportation. How was I going to get all 5 kids around the city of Barcelona? Were there buses or trains near our small apartment? I was really worried!
Well, I sort of tumbled upon what became a great solution for us on our first day of touring. After a good night's sleep, my kids were doing better on the jet lag front and we were ready to roll. I had my garbage bags all ready to go (yes, you guys know I am crazy!) but I didn't need them. The apartment had amazing electric shades that pulled down at the push of a button. I was in heaven when everyone slept 'till 9 AM.
OK, so the bus. Luckily, in the city of Barcelona, there are wonderful buses that take you all around the city and provide an audio guide. You can get on and off as you please. It's a great way to get a sense of the city and my kids were fully and totally entertained. So if you're wondering what to see in Barcelona, start with one of these awesome buses! I promise you won't be disappointed.
I'll be chronicling our trip to Europe with our kids for two months this summer! If you have tips for me, please write them below! xo M
Barcelona for Kids
Turned out one of the bus stops is right near our apartment -- phew! We bought tickets and boarded and got off at one of the first stops. The stadium and museum for the FCBarcelona -- Barcelona's renowned professional soccer club. The boys were thrilled. We took a lot of pictures at el Barca and they had fun looking at the stadium and hundreds of trophies. Soccer is huge over here and we are excited getting ready for the World Cup, so this visit to FCB was timely.
After that, we found a nice lunch place nearby. We discovered that hamburgers taste different here and french fries are served without salt (good!). Annaliese tried some tapas. I'm determined to get my boys to branch out, but picking my battles these first few days.
Back on the bus, we cruised by the Sagrada Familia, Guadi's famous cathedral that is still under construction. Watch my video to see my kids' reaction to this famous landmark!
Thanks for watching my video and check in soon for the next chapter of our family adventure!
Oh, and here's the first video just in case 'ya missed it!
xo Sending hugs!
Melissa

Barcelona Food Tour at LA BOQUERIA and Sagrada Familia - Barcelona, Spain, Travel Guide!

On Day 21 of our Round The World Trip for food with Star Alliance, we spent the day in Barcelona. Barcelona is an amazing food city, and one of the best places to start eating is at La Boqueria. After eating and wandering, we headed over to Sagrada Família for a breathtaking tour. It was an amazing day of food and attractions in Barcelona.
00:34 Breakfast at Cotton House Hotel - We started off the morning at our hotel by having a quick breakfast. The jamon and selection of cured meats was the highlight.
2:53 Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria - Often known in short just as La Boqueria, this historical market is a food lover's paradise and a pilgrimage destination. We arrived early in the morning and headed first to Bar Pinotxo to eat our second breakfast. I ordered an omelet with eggplant and a plate of garbanzo beans and blood sausage. The dish was simple, but it was incredibly delicious. Additionally, the coffee was extremely good. Total price - 12.80 EUR ($14.04)
6:59 El Quim De La Boqueria - After finishing with the first place of tapas, I wandered over to another legendary tapas bar within La Boqueria market known as El Quim De La Boqueria. It’s a very expensive place, but I knew I wanted to try the fried eggs with baby squid. The dish was a simple combination of ingredients, but it was cooked perfectly, and it was incredibly delicious. I also couldn’t resist a plate of fried chilies. Total price - 32.05 EUR ($35.16) There are dozens of things to eat and try at La Boqueria, and after all the salty food I was ready to have a passion fruit juice. And then finally, to conclude the Barcelona food tour of La Boqueria, I bought a cone of sliced Jamón Ibérico.
14:14 Gothic Quarter, Barcelona Cathedral - After an amazing food tour, we walked around the Christopher Columbus monument and then continued on walking around the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona. The Barcelona Cathedral was originally closed when we arrived, but I came back in a few minutes and walked around the Barcelona Cathedral as well.
16:37 Xarcutería La Pineda - Located just around the corner from the Barcelona Cathedral, I headed over to a place called Xarcutería La Pineda (recommended by Chris English), to try the botifarra blanca and a cup of vermouth. It’s an amazing little family run shop with a fantastic array of meats and drinks. Total price - 11.50 EUR
21:25 Basílica de la Sagrada Família - One of the most famous attractions in Barcelona is the Sagrada Familia, a basilica that was famous designed by Antoni Gaudi. I had read and dreamed about visiting for many years, so I was very excited to finally have the chance to visit. What amazed me is how dark and gothic it looks from the outside, yet how light and happy it is on the inside. Sagrada Familia is truly a stunning architectural feat, and an attraction you must visit in Barcelona. Along with visiting the main part of Sagrada Familia, I also bought tickets to go to the Nativity Tower. Going to the top of the tower and walking down was the highlight of visiting. Price - 29.00 EUR per person w/ tower entrance
26:16 Catalan Food for dinner at Restaurant Portolés - For dinner Ying and I walked over to Restaurant Portolés, a local Catalan food restaurant. Some of the main dishes I ordered included Fideuà and Rollitos De Pollo, all of which were delicious. It’s a great restaurant to try in Barcelona. Total price - 26.50 EUR
This was a fantastic day in Barcelona, packed with delicious food and attractions in Barcelona.

4 objects in the sky of Barcelona, Spain. UFOs October 2019. OVNI.
October 12, 2019.
In the video you can see pictures of the four objects I could see and a short video. They were very high above and I decided to better take pictures wit zoom. It was a long sighting (28 minutes till the last object disappeared in the distance) so I could leave the “let’s get footage about it” as I got many pictures and simply watch it with my goggles in a relaxed way. They were spinning in a regular way and the last one lasted like 7 minutes or so in the same place and finally went up to the clouds and disappeared behind them… A really nice (and “intimate” in some way) experience.
It all happened after meditating in my terrace for about 10 minutes, I used the mantra Eem Hreem Kleem and I was focused in the idea (should I say feeling?) that we are all part of one existence and we share a loving consciousness despite our differences or the difficulties we can have to communicate. A deep feeling of unity and love. I opened my eyes and saw a clear object in the distance, ran for my goggles and couldn’t find it anymore but there was another one… and I started taking pictures, the rest is described in the video. So it was 5 objects in a row although I only have pictures from 4 as shown here. When I saw closely the pictures and I realized their hearts united shape I felt really moved.
Their immediate response and the shapes they choose gives you a clear idea about how real and clear is the possibility of direct communication.
It is not about the ideas but the feelings…

So today I’m talking about pickpocketing in Barcelona. We actually witnessed it happening in a market place called La Boqueria. Check out this video clip and see if you notice it.
Okay, let’s slow it down a little bit. So here we’ve got a group of girls, and you can see they’ve just bought some smoothies, they’re having a lovely time, completely absorbed in what they’re doing.
One of the girls puts her purse back into her bag and then just slings her bag behind her. Now you see the guy to the left of the girl. He’s spotted her put her purse in her bag and thinks that she’s an easy target. He moves his coat over to his left-hand shoulder, which is closest to the girls, so no one would really know what was going on under his coat; he’s completely concealed his hand movements.
He’s looking at the bag, as he gets closer and closer to the girl, working out how he’s going to open it and how he’s going to help himself to the purse. As he gets to the girls, he stops. And at this point, we can’t even see what he’s doing. The girls clearly have no idea and this is probably when he’s got his hand in her bag, or at least trying to open it.
It looks like it doesn’t quite work and as he moves off, the bag comes with him where he’s tried to take something but the girl notices it and fortunately, nothing gets taken. The guy pretends nothing’s happened and moves off, pretending that his jacket just caught the bag and that’s all there was to it.
This girl was fortunate, but we caught this on camera purely by chance, so that goes to show just how rife it is.
However, I really don’t want you to think that, for this reason, you should be worried about travelling in Barcelona. There are some really easy steps that we’re outlining in another video, that you can follow, just to make sure you keep yourself safe and you have easy peace of mind.

25 Things to do in Barcelona, Spain | Top Attractions Travel Guide Video Transcript:
This week we are exploring another Spanish city. We are in Barcelona and this video is going to highlight 25 things to do here.
It is kind of hard to believe our time in Barcelona has expired. So final thoughts.
Well, it was a really fun city to visit. Great architecture, really nice beaches. It is very lively especially at night. The only downfall is that we were here in the middle of summer so it was super hot and super crowded and sometimes that made it a little bit difficult to enjoy. Especially at midday or in the mid-afternoon. So keep that in mind. Maybe consider visiting in the springtime, fall, winter.
Well, so what did you think of the city?
It is definitely a fun city. We had a lot of fun going to the beaches. One thing that is really different about this city compared to some other European cities though is that it is really spread out. In order for us to visit all of these different attractions we had to chunk them together into groups to visit them day by day. Overall, it was a decent city. It didn't quite click with me the same way that Madrid did. But that is just personal preference I suppose.
And that is a wrap for Barcelona! Our 5 days in the city flew by, and while this guide didn't cover everything, we hope we were able to give you a feel of what this fun seaside city has to offer. As always, if you have any suggestions of things to do around town, feel free to add them in the comments below. And if you want to catch our latest travel videos, don't forget to hit subscribe!

Best Things to Do in Barcelona | Top 10 List (2019)
What are the best things to do in beautiful Barcelona? Here is my TOP 10 list of must-see things in the Catalan capital, whether you're visiting on a cruise or otherwise.
#10: Montjuic Castle
You can see Monjuic Castle from the cruise port, as it sits on top of Montjuic hill.
You can book a guided tour of the castle or just walk around the outside and enjoy the gardens.
I actually walked up the stairs of the mountain to the castle, but I recommend taking the Monjuic cable car and take in some views of the city along the way.
#9: Casa Mila & Casa Batllo
I put these 2 architectural wonders together as they are not far apart geographically and both represent some of the best works of Antoni Gaudi.
Gaudi is highly revered in Barcelona and you will find many of his artistic works throughout the city.
Both are Unesco World Heritage Sites and incorporate the art nouveau style.
#8: Cuitadella Park
This park is the most vibrant and perhaps most important in Barcelona. Originally a military fortification, Park Cuitadella today offers something for everyone. There is the zoo, an incredible expansive fountain (based somewhat on the Trevi fountain in Rome), a museum of natural science, and even the opportunity for boat rentals on the lake. And with so much greenery there is plenty of space for a lovely picnic.
#7: Camp Nou
Even if you’re not into football (or soccer) Camp Nou is a fantastic place to visit. With a seating capacity at almost 100,000, this is the largest football stadium in Europe and is the home stadium of FC Barcelona.
When no games are taking place visitors can tour the stadium, go behind the scenes, walk along the field, and tour the Barca Museum. For football fans this is a must-see.
#6: The Magic Fountain of Montjuic
I absolutely loved seeing the Magic Fountain show. The fountain is situated right below the national art museum and near Placa de Espana. An easy metro stop at Placa de Espana will take you a short walk from the fountain.
Performance times vary by times of year and take place at 8 or 9pm and last about an hour.
#5: La Boqueria
Officially named Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria or La Boqueria for short, this marketplace is one of the city’s original landmarks. First mention of La Boqueria goes back to 1217.
Today the market has a metal enclosure and sells a variety of meats, fruits and vegetables, and other culinary delights. One of the best smoothies I ever had was at La Boqueria.
Easy to find, La Boqueria is right off Las Ramblas and if you’re taking the metro you can stop at Liceu on Green line.
#4: Gothic Quarter
You can spend an entire day just visiting the Gothic Quarter as it involves quite a bit of real estate and tons of history, including Roman ruins. You can still see some of the original Roman walls as part of the Barcelona Cathedral.
Walking the narrow, winding streets through the oldest part of the city you will find fascinating sites like the Barcelona Cathedral, Placa Reial, and shops on every corner.
The Gothic Quarter of Barcelona is right off the east side of Las Ramblas.
#3: Las Ramblas
Speaking of Las Ramblas, this iconic street is almost a right of passage for any 1st time visitor to Barcelona. This is the center most street that cuts through the heart of the city and always provides a bustling atmosphere for shopping, eating, and watching performers entertain the tourists.
Las Ramblas begins at Placa de Catalunya and ends at the Christopher Columbus Memorial about 1.2 Kilometers to the south.
#2: Park Guell
Considered the most colorful place in Barcelona and a masterpiece of Antoni Gaudi, Park Guell is another UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The park is full of imaginative design and intriguing spaces, and you can often hear performers playing music. Some of the park is free, but if you want to sit on the serpentine bench and get a picture with the lucky lizard you will have to pay to get in.
#1: Sagrada Familia
Sagrada Familia is an immense, unfinished basilica that dominates the landscape and is a marvel of architecture. It’s also quite controversial. Construction on the church began well over 100 years ago in 1882 under architect Francisco de Paula del Villar who resigned a year later, and none other then Antoni Gaudi took over the project.
Before his death in 1926 Gaudi once stated that his client was in no hurry.

Barcelona is a city in Spain. It is the capital and largest city of Catalonia, as well as the second most populous municipality of Spain. With a population of 1.6 million within city limits, its urban area extends to numerous neighbouring municipalities within the Province of Barcelona and is home to around 4.7 million people, making it the sixth most populous urban area in the European Union after Paris, London, Madrid, the Ruhr area and Milan.
