1960 TOUR OF NEW YORK CITY TIMES SQUARE RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL SS UNITED STATES 52954 MD
This beautiful circa Easter 1960 Kodachrome color, silent film, was shot by an amateur filmmaker. It crosses the line between a professional documentary and a home movie, in that it is impressively put together and extremely well shot. It features impressive views of Manhattan. Dating on the film is not 100% certain but the Janet Leigh film The Vikings seen advertised at 6:49 was released in 1958. The film Portrait in Black with Lana Turner seen advertised at 7:00 was released two years later in 1960, so it probably dates to that year or slightly later. Scenes include: 01:02 Hudson River scenes. 01:35 Verazanno statue.
01:45 Buildings in lower Manhattan. 01:50 Start of Circle Line boat tour. 02:18 Ellis Island. 02:30 Statue of Liberty. 02:55 going up the East River, probably the Circle Line tour. 03:11 United Nations Building.03:34 Scenes of boats on the Hudson.03:41 Railroad car floats and tugboats. 03:56 Power plant. 04:06 Kid eating ice cream in Circle Line boat. 04:13 Circle Line Boat passing by. 04:19 Yankee stadium from Harlem River. 04:26 passing through New York Central bridge at Spuyten Duyvil. 04:32 George Washington Bridge. 04:49 Cunard boat line with SS United States in dock, and the United States Line pier. 05:11 Circle line docking at 42nd street.

Places to see in ( New York - USA ) Battery Park
The Battery (also commonly known as Battery Park) is a 25-acre (10 ha) public park located at the southern tip of Manhattan Island in New York City facing New York Harbor. The park and surrounding area is named for the artillery batteries that were positioned there in the city's early years to protect the settlement behind them.
The Battery Conservancy, founded in 1994 by current President Warrie Price, has undertaken and funded the restoration and improvement of the once-dilapidated park. The park was known as Battery Park until 2015, when the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation restored the park's original, historical title of The Battery.
The southern shoreline of Manhattan Island had been known as The Battery since the 17th century when the area was part of the Dutch Settlement of New Amsterdam. At the time, an artillery battery there served to protect the seaward approaches to the town. The Battery continued its function during the colonial era, and was the center of Evacuation Day celebrations commemorating the departure of the last British troops in the United States after the American Revolutionary War. Just prior to the War of 1812, the West Battery, later renamed Castle Clinton, was erected on a small artificial offshore island nearby, to replace the earlier batteries in the area; later, when the Battery's landmass was created, it encircled and incorporated the island.
Toward the northwestern end of the park is Castle Clinton, the often-repurposed last remnant of the defensive works which inspired the name of the park; the former fireboat station Pier A; and Hope Garden, a memorial to AIDS victims. The Battery Gardens restaurant, next to the United States Coast Guard Battery Building. Along the waterfront, Statue Cruises offers ferries to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. The park is also the site of the East Coast Memorial which commemorates U.S. servicemen who died in coastal waters of the western Atlantic Ocean during World War II, and several other memorials. The SeaGlass Carousel, a site-specific attraction that opened on August 20, 2015, is designed to resemble an under-the-sea garden through which visitors ride on fish shimmering as though they were bioluminescent, and pays homage not only to the carousel's waterfront site, but also to Castle Clinton, which housed the New York Aquarium in the early 20th century.
To the northwest of the park lies Battery Park City, a planned community built on landfill in the 1970s and '80s, which includes Robert F. Wagner Park and the Battery Park City Promenade. Battery Park City was named after the park. Together with Hudson River Park, a system of greenspaces, bikeways, and promenades now extend up the Hudson River shoreline. A bikeway might be built through the park that will connect the Hudson River Park and East River Greenway parts of the Manhattan Waterfront Greenway.
Across State Street to the northeast is Bowling Green, as well as the old U.S. Customs House, now used as a branch of the National Museum of the American Indian and the district U.S. Bankruptcy Court. Peter Minuit Plaza abuts the southeast end of the park, directly in front of the Staten Island Ferry's Whitehall Terminal at South Ferry.

The Beauty of the world around us.
The City of New York, usually referred to as either New York City (NYC) or simply New York (NY), is the most populous city in the United States. With an estimated 2018 population of 8,398,748 distributed over a land area of about 302.6 square miles (784 km2), New York is also the most densely populated major city in the United States.[10] Located at the southern tip of the state of New York, the city is the center of the New York metropolitan area, the largest metropolitan area in the world by urban landmass[11] and one of the world's most populous megacities,[12][13] with an estimated 19,979,477 people in its 2018 Metropolitan Statistical Area and 22,679,948 residents in its Combined Statistical Area.[3][4] A global power city,[14] New York City has been described as the cultural,[15][16][17][18][19] financial,[20][21] and media capital of the world,[22][23] and exerts a significant impact upon commerce,[21] entertainment, research, technology, education, politics, tourism, art, fashion, and sports. The city's fast pace[24][25][26] has inspired the term New York minute.[27] Home to the headquarters of the United Nations,[28] New York is an important center for international diplomacy.[29][30]
Situated on one of the world's largest natural harbors,[31][32] New York City consists of five boroughs, each of which is a separate county of the State of New York.[33] The five boroughs – Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, The Bronx, and Staten Island – were consolidated into a single city in 1898.[34] The city and its metropolitan area constitute the premier gateway for legal immigration to the United States.[35] As many as 800 languages are spoken in New York,[36][37][38] making it the most linguistically diverse city in the world.[37][39][40] New York City is home to more than 3.2 million residents born outside the United States,[41] the largest foreign-born population of any city in the world.[42] As of 2019, the New York metropolitan area is estimated to produce a gross metropolitan product (GMP) of US$1.9 trillion.[8] If greater New York City were a sovereign state, it would have the 12th highest GDP in the world.[43] New York is home to the highest number of billionaires of any city in the world.[44]
New York City traces its origins to a trading post founded by colonists from the Dutch Republic in 1624 on Lower Manhattan; the post was named New Amsterdam in 1626.[45] The city and its surroundings came under English control in 1664[45] and were renamed New York after King Charles II of England granted the lands to his brother, the Duke of York.[46] New York was the capital of the United States from 1785 until 1790,[47] and has been the largest US city since 1790.[48] The Statue of Liberty greeted millions of immigrants as they came to the U.S. by ship in the late 19th and early 20th centuries[49] and is an international symbol of the U.S. and its ideals of liberty and peace.[50] In the 21st century, New York has emerged as a global node of creativity and entrepreneurship,[51] social tolerance,[52] and environmental sustainability,[53][54] and as a symbol of freedom and cultural diversity.[55] In 2019, New York was voted the greatest city in the world per a survey of over 30,000 people from 48 cities worldwide, citing its cultural diversity.[15]
Many districts and landmarks in New York City are well known, including three of the world's ten most visited tourist attractions in 2013;[56] a record 62.8 million tourists visited in 2017.[57] Several sources have ranked New York the most photographed city in the world.[58][59] Times Square, iconic as the world's heart[60] and crossroads,[61] is the brightly illuminated hub of the Broadway Theater District,[62] one of the world's busiest pedestrian intersections,[63][64] and a major center of the world's entertainment industry.[65] The names of many of the city's landmarks, skyscrapers,[66] and parks are known internationally. Manhattan's real estate market is among the most expensive in the world.[67][68] New York is home to the largest ethnic Chinese population outside of Asia,[69][70] with multiple distinct Chinatowns across the city.[71][72][73] Providing continuous 24/7 service,[74] the New York City Subway is the largest single-operator rapid transit system worldwide, with 472 rail stations.[75][76][77] The city has over 120 colleges and universities, including Columbia University, New York University, and Rockefeller University, ranked among the top universities in the world.

⁴ᴷ⁶⁰ Walking NYC (Narrated) : Little Italy, Manhattan (August 16, 2019)
Google Maps Route:
From Wikipedia:
Little Italy (Italian: Piccola Italia) is a neighborhood in Lower Manhattan, New York City, once known for its large population of Italian Americans. Today the neighborhood consists of only a few Italian stores and restaurants. It is bounded on the west by Tribeca and Soho, on the south by Chinatown, on the east by the Bowery and Lower East Side, and on the north by Nolita.
Little Italy on Mulberry Street used to extend as far south as Worth Street, as far north as Houston Street, as far west as Lafayette Street, and as far east as Bowery. It is now only three blocks on Mulberry Street. Little Italy originated as Mulberry Bend. Jacob Riis described Mulberry Bend as the foul core of New York's slums. During this time period Immigrants of the late 19th century usually settled in ethnic neighborhoods. Therefore, the mass immigration from Italy during the 1880's led to the large settlement of Italian immigrants in lower Manhattan. The results of such migration had created an influx of Italian immigrants which had led to the commercial gathering of their dwelling and business.
Bill Tonelli from New York magazine said, Once, Little Italy was like an insular Neapolitan village re-created on these shores, with its own language, customs, and financial and cultural institutions. Little Italy was not the largest Italian neighborhood in New York City, as East Harlem (or Italian Harlem) had a larger Italian population. Tonelli said that Little Italy was perhaps the city's poorest Italian neighborhood. In 1910 Little Italy had almost 10,000 Italians; that was the peak of the community's Italian population. At the turn of the 20th century over 90% of the residents of the Fourteenth Ward were of Italian birth or origins. Tonnelli said that it meant that residents began moving out to more spacious digs almost as soon as they arrived. Such a vastly growing community impacted the U.S. labor movement in the 20th century by making up much of the labor population in the garment industry.
After World War II, many residents of the Lower East Side began moving to Brooklyn, Staten Island, eastern Long Island, and New Jersey. Chinese immigrants became an increased presence after the U.S. Immigration Act of 1965 removed immigration restrictions, and the Manhattan Chinatown to Little Italy's south expanded. In 2004, Tonelli said, You can go back 30 years and find newspaper clips chronicling the expansion of Chinatown and mourning the loss of Little Italy.

⁴ᴷ⁶⁰ Walking NYC (Narrated) : SoHo, Manhattan (July 10, 2019)
Google Maps Route:
Join me as I narrate a walk through the SoHo neigborhood in Manhattan.
From Wikipedia:
SoHo, sometimes written Soho, is a neighborhood in Lower Manhattan, New York City, which in recent history came to the public's attention for being the location of many artists' lofts and art galleries, but is now better known for its variety of shops ranging from trendy upscale boutiques to national and international chain store outlets. The area's history is an archetypal example of inner-city regeneration and gentrification, encompassing socioeconomic, cultural, political, and architectural developments.
The name SoHo refers to the area being South of Houston Street, a name coined in 1962 by Chester Rapkin, an urban planner and author of The South Houston Industrial Area study, also known as the Rapkin Report. The name also recalls Soho, an area in London's West End.
Almost all of SoHo is included in the SoHo–Cast Iron Historic District, which was designated by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission in 1973, extended in 2010, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and declared a National Historic Landmark in 1978. It consists of 26 blocks and approximately 500 buildings, many of them incorporating cast-iron architectural elements. Many side streets in the district are paved with Belgian blocks.
SoHo is part of Manhattan Community District 2 and its primary ZIP Codes are 10012 and 10013. It is patrolled by the 1st Precinct of the New York City Police Department.

⁴ᴷ⁶⁰ Walking NYC (Narrated) : Industry City, Sunset Park, Brooklyn (August 17, 2019)
Google Maps Location:
A walk through Industry City in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn.
From Wikipedia
Industry City (also Bush Terminal) is a historic intermodal shipping, warehousing, and manufacturing complex on the Upper New York Bay waterfront in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City. The northern portion, commonly called Industry City on its own, hosts commercial light manufacturing tenants across 6,000,000 square feet (560,000 m2) of space between 32nd and 41st Streets, and is operated by a private consortium. The southern portion, known as Bush Terminal, is located between 40th and 51st Streets is operated by the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) as a garment manufacturing complex.
Founded by Bush Terminal Company head Irving T. Bush in the early 1900s, Bush Terminal was the first facility of its kind in New York City and the largest multi-tenant industrial property in the United States. The warehouses were built circa 1892–1910, the railroad from 1896 to 1915, and the factory lofts between 1905 and 1925. During World War I, Bush Terminal was used as a United States Navy base, though it returned to private ownership after the war. At its peak, Bush Terminal covered 200 acres (81 hectares), bounded by Gowanus Bay to the west and north, Third Avenue to the east, 27th Street to the north, and 50th Street to the south.
The surrounding area entered a period of decline after World War II, and by the 1970s, the ports in Bush Terminal had been filled. The entire complex was rebranded as Industry City during the post-war years, though the Bush Terminal name remained in popular use. In the 1970s and 1980s, sections of Bush Terminal were demolished or converted into other uses, including a shopping mall, a federal prison, a privately-operated manufacturing and commercial complex, and a garment manufacturing district operated by the NYCEDC.
Today, the Bush Terminal site collectively comprises roughly 71 acres (29 ha), including sixteen former factory buildings and eleven warehouses between built in the early 20th century. Starting in the 2010s, the complex has been undergoing renovations and expansions. A major expansion of Industry City, which would add 3,000,000 square feet (280,000 m2) of space to the complex, was announced in 2017. The section of Bush Terminal operated by the NYCEDC is also undergoing a renovation into the Made in NY campus, a film, TV, and fashion manufacturing complex that is set to open in 2020.
