Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson Arizona
I visited the Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson Arizona. You can get more information here:
Inside Pima Air & Space Museum - Tucson, Arizona
The Pima Air & Space Museum, located in Tucson, Arizona, is one of the world's largest non-government funded aerospace museums. The museum features a display of nearly 300 aircraft spread out over 80 acres (320,000 m²) on a campus occupying 127 acres (610,000 m²). It is also, since 1991, home to the Arizona Aviation Hall of Fame.
Opened to the public in May 1976 with 48 aircraft then on display, the Museum's main hangar houses an SR-71A Blackbird, an A-10 Warthog, a United States Air Force Through the Years exhibit, and a mock-up of a control tower.
The museum is adjacent to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. The 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG), affiliated with the base, also known as the Graveyard of Planes or The Boneyard, is the largest aircraft storage and preservation facilities in the world. Bus tours of the boneyard leave from the museum several times a day from Monday to Friday, except Federal holidays.
The nearby Titan Missile Museum is located about 20 miles south of Tucson in Green Valley off of Interstate 19 and features a Titan II intercontinental ballistic missile still in its silo. Tours of the above-ground and underground installations around the missile are conducted daily. More extensive top to bottom tours take up to five hours and are conducted several times each month. Reservations required for top to bottom tour.
Both museums are overseen by the Arizona Aerospace Foundation and are governed by the Board of Trustees. They are non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization that relies on visitors paying admissions, for trams and AMARG tours, as well as what they spend in the Museum stores. They also rely on memberships and contracted events to pay to restore and acquire exhibits.
During 2015, Boeing donated to the museum the second 787 aircraft to be made.
PIMA Air Space Museum (Tucson, Arizona).
This airplane museum in Tucson is the history of manned flight. Pima Air and Space Museum has over 300 historic aircraft on exhibit, including the Blackbird, a 1950’s design that still holds the speed record for coast to coast flight: imagine going from New York to Los Angeles in one hour.
When you purchase your ticket to the Air and Space Museum, you can also get a discounted price for the tour of the Titan Missile Museum. Both venues are highly recommended. To get 2 tickets for the price of one, visit the Tucson Attractions website, for a Tucson Passport, The Book of Fun.
When you buy your tickets, be sure to ask the agent for tour times. The Museum offers separate outdoor and indoor tours led by knowledgeable docents, many of whom have flying experience with some of these relics.
Outdoor Tram Tour includes LBJ's Air Force One, the seriously weird Super Guppy, a giant B-52, and a stop at the 390th Memorial Museum with its beautifully restored 'Flying Fortress'.
Hangar 1 Guided Tour starts with the Wright Flyer and includes the Museum's rarest airplanes. Here is where you will find the Lockheed SR-71 'Blackbird' and many other historic aircraft.
World War II Aviation Guided Tour starts inside Hangar 3. Here are the B-24 'Liberator' and Mitchell B-25, the aircraft used in the Doolittle raid on Tokyo.
Hanger 4 has an extraordinary collection of restored aircraft, including the B-29 'Superfortress' and several very interesting WW II exhibits.
Each tour is free with paid admission and lasts about an hour.
The Dorothy Finley Space Gallery has four areas of exhibits, X-Planes, Space Race, Outer Space and Materials Technology.
The Museum has a new restaurant: The Flight Grille open 9:30 to 4:30. Our meal was upscale cafeteria quality.

Tucson Revisited - Pima Air and Space Museum
A second visit to Tucson and Western Way RV Resort. This time for the month of December. The high-lite of the stay is the visit to the Pima Air and Space Museum. We only allowed for a few hours. In fact a 2 day visit would have been better. Maybe another time.

Really cool day looking at LOADS of old planes ive never seen before. This museum, since it's in the Arizona desert, keeps the planes in remarkable condition. The best part was all the aircraft outside and the truly special older planes and helicopters I got to see - definitely a bunch from Lockheed, Glenn Martin, Boeing, and Vought - all companies i've worked for! The video portionis about 10 minutes, and the LOADS of pictures take up the other 10-ish minutes (there was sooo many great pics!). Enjoy!
Pima Air & Space Museum and the AMARG Boneyard
While I don't (yet) have a Walk Through video on the Pima Air & Space Museum to complement my other ones on different air museums, I thought that I would cobble some video and slideshows together, based on previous visits to Pima, to approximate what I would otherwise have done. I think it is better than nothing!

Pima Air & Space Museum Graveyard Boneyard of Planes Tuscon Arizona U.S.A
Pima Air & Space Museum is a world class museum. The planes indoors are worth the attraction fee itself. There are planes that are so rare that you cannot miss this place. Outside, the old boneyard of planes is unbelievable.
