Barcelona Walk at Royal Plaza with Fountain and Palm Trees - Spain
A first-person perspective Barcelona walk tour of Plaça Reial (Royal Plaza).
Experience all of the sights and sounds as Watched Walker (yes, I’m talking about myself in the third person!) takes us on a walking tour through the streets of Barcelona, featuring Plaça Reial (Royal Plaza). The tour begins on La Rambla, then travels along Carrer de Colom and into Plaça Reial, and concludes after exploring the plaza.
Sights seen along the tour include a fountain, lanterns designed by Antoni Gaudí, restaurants (including Cerveceria Colon, Ambos Mundos, Mariscco Reial, Les Quinze Nits, Glaciar, DO: Plaça Reial), and palm trees.
And in each video I've hidden a Watching-Eye, can you spot it? (It could appear more than once). In addition to the Watching-Eye, I've also added the Watched Walker logo to various scenes–it could be on buildings, vehicles or any other objects, so keep an eye out for it too!
Footage recorded June 2017.

Plaça Reial is a square in the Barri Gòtic of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It lies next to La Rambla and is a well-known tourist attraction, especially at night. On the plaza are a large number of restaurants and some of the city's most famous nightclubs including Sidecar, Jamboree and Karma.
It is also known for its many outdoor venues and is a popular meeting place during the summer and the annual La Mercè festival in September, when open-air concerts take place, and during other celebrations such as New Year's Eve, often being very crowded.
On the same spot, there was the Capuchin convent of Santa Madrona that was demolished in 1835. In its place,a square named Plaça Reial was designed by Francesc Daniel Molina i Casamajó in the 19th century. The square is twinned with Plaza Garibaldi, in Mexico City. The lanterns there were designed by the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí. The square is the site of the Hotel Roma Reial and club.

Plaça Reial, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, Europe
The Royal Plaza is located next to the Ramblas, Barcelona's Old Town. He called because he wanted to dedicate Ferdinand VII, who had been king during the time of construction, and to praise the monarchy. In the beginning, before being built, had thought to call it Place of Spanish heroes, but after a few years with different options construction and due absolutism established by Ferdinand VII, was ordered to remove all names streets and places that are related to liberalism. The ideas of converting the former convent of Santa Madrona Capuchin, began to emerge in 1822 and after the burning of convents (1835), began dismantling it to convert the space into a large theater and galleries in the city. He convened a contest of projects which were presented to them two ways: Josep Oriol Mestres and Francesc Daniel Molina Casamajó. While the resolution is decided, the Council gave the space for its operation, and between 1842 and 1848 ran a theater, the New Theatre. The inauguration of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, in 1847, he dismissed the idea of building a theater and decided to make place in 1848. It was designed and built by the architect and urban planner Francesc Daniel Molina Casamajó. One of the most distinguished places in Barcelona. It is down Las Ramblas on the left is the only arcaded square of the city, which gives character and makes it exceptional. It borders the Boulevard of the Capuchins, Ferran street, Calle Colon and Escudellers street. It also meets the first passage that was covered in Barcelona, Bacardi, not very well preserved. The specific space occupied by the current Royal Plaza was bought by the Capuchin convent of Mount Calvary in 1717 to build a new convent (1718). The Capuchin convent took some sections of the medieval wall and included all the space that today corresponds to the streets of Glass, Escudellers, Las Ramblas and Portal de la Boqueria. The convent church was located on Las Ramblas, the height of the current entry in Ferran street while in the south stood the garden center (Plaza Real). Importantly also factory habits wool next to Calle Glass that religious settled. In 1822, in the Triennial Liberal meant a change in the ownership of the land passed to the council, which could not overthrow the convent until 1835 due to the occurrence of the so-called Decade absolutist. Also in 1835 there was the destruction of the convent of St. Joseph, then located in the current Boqueria market. The intention was to build on its site a place like Plaza Real, and was originally designed and built to reach the place of work, which are an example porches preserved until today. Later, inside the structure was built in the San Jose market structure that has endured without much alteration to the present day. Regarding the Plaça Reial, it should be noted that it was constructed between 1850 and 1859 under a very clear demonstration of Napoleonic planning, along with the project completed in 1848 by architect Francis Casamajó Daniel Molina, winner of municipal by the new square. And it is precisely in the place where today there is the place where stood the Capuchin monastery mentioned above. Since the fifties of the twentieth century, Adolf Florensa made a program of interventions is characterized by concentration and false restoration of buildings of historical and artistic. The neighborhood became a theme park where buildings rebuilt elsewhere and foreign elements were added to give an aesthetic cohesion to the whole, these actions were criticized by renowned historians like Ferran Soldevila Antoni Rovira i Virgili Augustine Duran Sanpere. Regarding the internal morphology, during the eighteenth century var changed drastically due to the high density suffered: subdivide large mansions on uneven floors and lack of services; took advantage entire plot, removing orchards that persisted, creating rooms badly lit and ventilated worst demolished the old house to build a new one with an increase in the height of excessiveness. The nineteenth century is, however, the major changes in the structure and morphology of the district, due to several phenomena: the transformation of the parish cemetery in public places (Pi, St. Just, St. James, St. Michael, St. Sever, Mercy, etc.); emptying of large pieces, in most cases to arise from the burning of convents and seizure, as well as the demolition of paper laus, with the consequent change of use (places: Royal Medina, etc.) employment institutions (Government, Military, Military captain, largely from the City Council, etc.); the demolition of the walls, which opens the neighborhood and provide non- go plots and plots; the opening of the shaft streets Ferran- Jaume I and Via Laietana. The square is now a meeting point for a very heterogeneous, because it is a place to sit and have a drink at the outdoor terraces under the arcades that characterize.
