TABASCO
Located in the Gulf coast region in southern Mexico, Tabasco has a tropical climate, fertile terrain, mountains, rivers and lagoons surrounded by lush vegetation.
Here you can visit Villahermosa, the state capital, a modern and culturally rich city with beautiful parks, such as Parque-Museo La Venta, where you'll see numerous Olmec archaeological pieces and a beautiful zoo. You can also visit Parque Tomas Garrido Canabal and the Carlos Pellicer Museum of Anthropology. This city also hosts an interesting carnival with floats, music and masked dancers, and in April it offers the Celebracion del Mes de Abril, a showcase of Tabasco's most splendid crafts.
In the surrounding areas, you can visit the town of Nacajuca, which has a crafts plaza where they sell objects made from palm leaves and embroidered goods. Also of interest is archaeological zone La Venta, an ancient Olmec capital, and Comalcalco, an ancient Mayan ceremonial center that was built with bricks, rather than stones.
In the Agua Selva nature reserve you'll find huge waterfalls, excellent cliffs for rock climbing and a cavern known as the Cueva de la Luz, an ideal spot for cave diving. At the Pantanos de Centla Biosphere Reserve, you can tour the Usumacinta and Grijalva rivers and visit the Yu-Balcah Ecotourism Center, a protected area that serves as a refuge for howler monkeys. In any of Tabasco's cities or towns you can enjoy excellent cuisine like ensalada de pejelagarto (fish salad), tortas de iguana (iguana pancakes), pan de platano (banana bread) and pozol (a drink made from ground corn and cacao). These are just some of the dishes you can try here that have Mayan- and Chontal-influenced recipes.

Tropical storm Arlene claims lives in Mexico
Tropical storm Arlene claims lives in Mexico. As tropical storm Arlene brought more heavy rains to Mexico, officials on Saturday, July 2 confirmed at least 11 fatalities. Some 278,000 people were displaced or affected as central and Gulf coastal states were swept with floods and mudslides, damaging 20,000 homes and affecting crops. Thousands were evacuated as the storm brought heavy rains and winds to the badly-hit state of Veracruz as well as Hidalgo, Tamaulipas, Quereétaro, Puebla, Oaxaca, and San Luis Potosi. With victims that included two young children and a rescue worker, an unknown number of people were injured, and the National Defense sent 2,900 troops to assist especially in Veracruz and Hidalgo states.
With all her love and prayers, Supreme Master Ching Hai asked that our nearby Association members please check with local officials to see if any help is required. Offering US$15,000 for urgent needs, she asked that they go if possible to comfort the most desperate. This amount could obtain US$52,000 in relief items if purchased in the United States, based on the cost of living in Mexico.
Our gratefulness for the efforts of Mexican officials, military and other personnel working to ease the situation, as well as for Supreme Master Ching Hai's heartfelt aid. With Heaven's grace, may such disasters quickly subside through humanity's more benevolent care of the ecosphere.

SUMMARY
=======
Mexico (Spanish: México [ˈmexiko] ( listen); Nahuatl languages: Mēxihco), officially the United Mexican States (Spanish: Estados Unidos Mexicanos, listen ), is a federal republic in the southern portion of North America. It is bordered to the north by the United States; to the south and west by the Pacific Ocean; to the southeast by Guatemala, Belize, and the Caribbean Sea; and to the east by the Gulf of Mexico. Covering almost 2,000,000 square kilometres (770,000 sq mi), the nation is the fifth largest country in the Americas by total area and the 13th largest independent state in the world. With an estimated population of over 120 million people, the country is the eleventh most populous state and the most populous Spanish-speaking state in the world, while being the second most populous nation in Latin America after Brazil. Mexico is a federation comprising 31 states and Mexico City, a special federal entity that is also the capital city and its most populous city. Other metropolises in the state include Guadalajara, Monterrey, Puebla, Toluca, and Tijuana.
Pre-Columbian Mexico dates to about 8000 BC and is identified as one of five cradles of civilization and was home to many advanced Mesoamerican civilizations such as the Olmec, Toltec, Teotihuacan, Zapotec, Maya, and Aztec before first contact with Europeans. In 1521, the Spanish Empire conquered and colonized the territory from its politically powerful base in Mexico-Tenochtitlan (part of Mexico City), which was administered as the viceroyalty of New Spain. Three centuries later, the territory became a nation state following its recognition in 1821 after the colony's Mexican War of Independence. The post-independence period was tumultuous, characterized by economic inequality and many contrasting political changes. The Mexican–American War (1846–1848) led to a territorial cession of the extant northern territories to the United States. The Pastry War, the Franco-Mexican War, a civil war, two empires, and the Porfiriato occurred in the 19th century. The Porfiriato was ended by the start of the Mexican Revolution in 1910, which culminated with the promulgation of the 1917 Constitution and the emergence of the country's current political system as a democratic republic.
Mexico has the 15th largest nominal GDP and the 11th largest by purchasing power parity. The Mexican economy is strongly linked to those of its 1994 North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) partners, especially the United States. In 1994, Mexico became the first Latin American member of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). It is classified as an upper-middle income country by the World Bank and a newly industrialized country by several analysts. The country is considered both a regional power and a middle power, and is often identified as an emerging global power. Due to its rich culture and history, Mexico ranks first in the Americas and seventh in the world for number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Mexico is an ecologically megadiverse country, ranking fourth in the world for its biodiversity. Mexico has many tourists: in 2016, it was the eighth most-visited country in the world, with 35 million international arrivals. Mexico is a member of the United Nations (UN), the World Trade Organization (WTO), the G8+5, the G20, the Uniting for Consensus group of the UN, and the Pacific Alliance trade bloc.

SUMMARY
=======
The Mexican Revolution (Spanish: Revolución mexicana), also known as the Mexican Civil War (Spanish: guerra civil mexicana), was a major armed struggle, lasting roughly from 1910 to 1920, that radically transformed Mexican culture and government. Although recent research has focused on local and regional aspects of the Revolution, it was a genuinely national revolution. Its outbreak in 1910 resulted from the failure of the 35-year-long regime of Porfirio Díaz to find a managed solution to the presidential succession. This meant there was a political crisis among competing elites and the opportunity for agrarian insurrection. Wealthy landowner Francisco I. Madero challenged Díaz in the 1910 presidential election, and following the rigged results, revolted under the Plan of San Luis Potosí. Armed conflict ousted Díaz from power; a new election was held in 1911, bringing Madero to the presidency.
The origins of the conflict were broadly based in opposition to the Díaz regime, with the 1910 election becoming the catalyst for the outbreak of political rebellion. The revolution was begun by elements of the Mexican elite hostile to Díaz, led by Madero and Pancho Villa; it expanded to the middle class, the peasantry in some regions, and organized labor. In October 1911, Madero was overwhelmingly elected in a free and fair election. Opposition to his regime then grew from both the conservatives, who saw him as too weak and too liberal, and from former revolutionary fighters and the dispossessed, who saw him as too conservative.
Madero and his vice president Pino Suárez were forced to resign in February 1913, and were assassinated. The counter-revolutionary regime of General Victoriano Huerta came to power, backed by business interests and other supporters of the old order. Huerta remained in power from February 1913 until July 1914, when he was forced out by a coalition of different regional revolutionary forces. When the revolutionaries' attempt to reach political agreement failed, Mexico plunged into a civil war (1914–1915). The Constitutionalist faction under wealthy landowner Venustiano Carranza emerged as the victor in 1915, defeating the revolutionary forces of former Constitutionalist Pancho Villa and forcing revolutionary leader Emiliano Zapata back to guerrilla warfare. Zapata was assassinated in 1919 by agents of President Carranza.
The armed conflict lasted for the most of a decade, until around 1920, and had several distinct phases. Over time the R ...
