MÁLAGA WALK along City Centre Main Shopping Streets | Spain
A first-person perspective Málaga walk tour of the Málaga City Centre main shopping streets.
See all the sights as Watched Walker (yes, I’m talking about myself in the third person) takes us on a walking tour through the streets of Málaga, featuring the major shopping streets of Málaga City Centre. The tour begins on the canopied, pedestrianised shopping street Calle Marqués de Larios, next travels north to the Plaza de la Constitución (Constitution Square), then along Calle Granada where the tour concludes.
Sights seen along the tour include 'Points of View' sculpture by Tony Cragg, Málaga Cathedral, Sebastiâo Salgado’s ‘Génesis’ photography exhibition, Fuente de Génova (Fountain of Genoa), and the ‘Panta Rei’ (Everything Flows) sculpture by Blanca Munoz.
And in each video I've hidden a blinking eye, can you spot it? (It could appear more than once). In addition to the blinking eye, I've also added the Watched Walker logo to various scenes–it could be on buildings, vehicles or any other objects, so keep an eye out for it too!
Footage recorded July 2017.

Places to see in ( Malaga - Spain )
Places to see in ( Malaga - Spain )
Málaga is a port city on southern Spain’s Costa del Sol, known for its high-rise hotels and resorts jutting up from yellow-sand beaches. Looming over that modern skyline are the city’s 2 massive hilltop citadels, the Alcazaba and ruined Gibralfaro, remnants of Moorish rule. The city's soaring Renaissance cathedral is nicknamed La Manquita (one-armed lady) because one of its towers was curiously left unbuilt.
Malaga is the second-most populous city of Andalusia and the sixth-largest in Spain. The southernmost large city in Europe, Malaga lies on the Costa del Sol (Coast of the Sun) of the Mediterranean, about 100 kilometres (62.14 miles) east of the Strait of Gibraltar and about 130 km (80.78 mi) north of Africa. The internationally acclaimed painter and sculptor Pablo Picasso, Hebrew poet and Jewish philosopher Solomon Ibn Gabirol and the actor Antonio Banderas were born in Málaga. The magnum opus of Cuban composer Ernesto Lecuona, Malagueña, is named for the music of this region of Spain.
Málaga is located in southern Spain, on the Costa del Sol (Coast of the Sun) on the northern side of the Mediterranean Sea. It lies at the feet of the Montes de Málaga, about 100 kilometres (62 miles) east of the Strait of Gibraltar and about 130 kilometres (81 miles) east of Tarifa (the southernmost point of continental Europe) and about 130 km (81 miles) to the north of Africa.
The old historic centre of Málaga reaches the harbour to the south. In the north it is surrounded by mountains, the Montes de Málaga (part of the Baetic Cordillera) lying in the southern base of the Axarquía hills, and two rivers, the Guadalmedina – the historic center is located on its left bank – and the Guadalhorce, which flows west of the city into the Mediterranean.
The Moors left posterity the dominating presence of the Castle of Gibralfaro, which is connected to the Alcazaba, the lower fortress and royal residence. Both were built during the Taifa period (11th century) and extended during the Nasrid period (13th and 14th centuries).
Like many of the military fortifications that were constructed in Islamic Spain, the Alcazaba of Málaga featured a quadrangular plan. It was protected by an outer and inner wall, both supported by rectangular towers, between which a covered walkway led up the slope to the Gibralfaro (this was the only exchange between the two sites).
The Church of Santiago (Saint James) is an example of Gothic vernacular Mudéjar, the hybrid style that evolved after the Reconquista incorporating elements from both Christian and Islamic tradition. Also from the period is the Iglesia del Sagrario, which was built on the site of the old mosque immediately after the city fell to Christian troops. It boasts a richly ornamented portal in the Isabeline-Gothic style, unique in the city. The Cathedral and the Episcopal Palace were planned with Renaissance architectural ideals but there was a shortfall of building funds and they were finished in Baroque style. The Basílica y Real Santuario de Santa María de la Victoria, built in the late 17th century, has a chapel in which the vertical volume is filled with elaborate Baroque plasterwork.
Other sights include:
Walls. Phoenician, Roman, Byzantine, Arab and Spanish remains of the defensive compounds of the city.
La Concepción, botanical and historical garden.
Church of the Sacred Heart.
San Felipe Neri Church.
Church of the Holy Martyrs.
Atarazanas Market.

A popular walk leads up the hill to the Gibralfaro castle (a Parador), offering panoramic views over the city. The castle is next to the Alcazaba, the old Muslim palace, which in turn is next to the inner city of Málaga. Other nearby attractions are the Roman Theatre, the old Jewish quarter, the Cathedral, and the Church of Santiago in mudéjar style. A popular walk follows the Paseo del Parque (a promenade that runs alongside a grand park with many palm trees and statues) to the harbour, ending in Calle Larios, the main commercial street of the city.

It forms the imposing focal point and indeed visual connection between different parts of home. The sculpture is created by Arne Quinze, a leading Belgian conceptual artist who made installations for Louis Vuitton and revealed a virtual installation on the Statue of Liberty in New York, whose Avant-garde work is displayed in the centres of Brussels, Paris, Shanghai, Beirut, in the Saatchi Gallery in London and Louisiana Museum of Modern Art.

The land for Mount Cristo Rey was purchased by the El Paso Diocese in the 1930s when that part of Southern New Mexico was in the El Paso Diocese. The Monument to Jesus Christ, known as Cristo Rey, was commissioned by the Church, built by Spanish sculptor Urbici Soler, and completed in 1940.
Mount Cristo Rey is a Catholic Shrine, and became part of the newly-created Catholic Diocese of Las Cruces in 1982. Annual pilgrimages have been held at the mountain since the 1930s. Las Cruces Bishop Ricardo Ramirez conducted a Mass atop Cristo Rey on October 29, 2006. The Summer 2006 heavy floods closed the mountain, but the Mount Cristo Rey Restoration Committee went to work and patched the trails so the annual pilgrimage could occur. However, funds are needed to pave the dirt trails with asphalt so future heavy rains will not jeopardize access to Mount Cristo Rey.
The TV documentary explains the mountain's human and geological history, which now dates to 100 milion years ago with the discovery of hundreds of dinosaur tracks at the base of Cristo Rey.
Included with each copy of this DVD is a booklet detailing the history of El Paso's Mount Cristo Rey.
That DVD cover shot of the Cristo Rey Monument at sunrise and moonset took some effort to videotape. You are seeing the first useable frame of video after running down Doniphan Drive about 7am on a June day as traffic wondered what I was doing. I had to run to get under the moon as it picked up speed when it got closer to setting. The moonset from this point to going completely behind the Cristo Rey Mountain took about 7 minutes, and that entire moonset is on this DVD as bonus material.

SUMMARY
=======
Málaga (, Spanish: [ˈmalaɣa]) is a municipality, capital of the Province of Málaga, in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia, Spain. With a population of 569,130 in 2015, it is the second-most populous city of Andalusia and the sixth-largest in Spain. The southernmost large city in Europe, it lies on the Costa del Sol (Coast of the Sun) of the Mediterranean, about 100 kilometres (62.14 miles) east of the Strait of Gibraltar and about 130 km (80.78 mi) north of Africa.
Málaga's history spans about 2,800 years, making it one of the oldest cities in the world. It was founded by the Phoenicians as Malaka about 770 BC, and from the 6th century BC was under the hegemony of Ancient Carthage. Then, from 218 BC, it was ruled by the Roman Republic and later the Roman Empire as Malaca (Latin). After the fall of the empire and the end of Visigothic rule, it was under Islamic rule as Mālaqah (مالقة) for 800 years, but in 1487, the Crown of Castille gained control after the Reconquista. The archaeological remains and monuments from the Phoenician, Roman, Arabic and Christian eras make the historic center of the city an open museum, displaying its history of nearly 3,000 years.
This important cultural infrastructure and the artistic heritage have culminated in the nomination of Málaga as a candidate for the 2016 European Capital of Culture.
The painter and sculptor Pablo Picasso, Hebrew poet and Jewish philosopher Solomon Ibn Gabirol and the actor Antonio Banderas were born in Málaga. The magnum opus of Cuban composer Ernesto Lecuona, Malagueña, is named after the music of this region of Spain.
The most important business sectors in Málaga are tourism, construction and technology services, but other sectors such as transportation and logistics are beginning to expand. The Andalusia Technology Park (PTA), located in Málaga, has enjoyed significant growth since its inauguration in 1992. Málaga is the main economic and financial centre of southern Spain, home of the region's largest bank, Unicaja, and the fourth-ranking city in economic activity in Spain behind Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia.
Robotic Wheelchair Navigation in the Malaga University
This experiment demonstrates how a reactive navigation method successfully makes our robotic wheelchair SENA to navigate reliably in the entrance of our building at the University of Malaga (Spain). The robot navigates autonomously amidst dozens of students while avoiding collisions.
The method is based on a space transformation which simplifies finding collision-free movements in real-time in despite of the arbitrarily complex shape of the robot and its kinematic restrictions.

Exhibition explores the influence of classical art on Picasso
(17 Oct 2018) LEADIN:
A new exhibition in Milan explores the influence of classical art on the work of the Spanish artist Pablo Picasso.
The exhibition called Picasso Metamorphosis features statues, paintings and sculptures and also looks at the role women played in the artist's life.
STORYLINE:
Ancient and modern art works are displayed side by side at a new exhibition celebrating the influence of myth and antiquity on that giant of modern art .. Pablo Picasso.
Sleeping Greek statues, Minotaurs and plenty of depictions of human love, shape the exhibition called Picasso Metamorphosis in Milan's Palazzo Reale.
The sculptures are juxtaposed with works by Picasso to show how they influence his creative process.
After Rodin, after Ingres, there is Picasso and they are all influenced by the Antiquity, this academic education they received and here we want to show this and enter in Picasso's secret laboratory of creation. We want to show how this Antiquity lives in him and represent life or nature, explains the exhibit's curator Pascale Picard.
The exhibit is divided into six sections including one dedicated to the Minotaur.
Here, statues dating from 500-1000 A.D. are shown next to paintings of Minotaurs created in the twentieth century by Picasso.
The idea is not to say that Picasso copied anyone, no absolutely not, there are some visual analogies with Antique archaeological works. What is exceptional here is that there are as many exceptional pieces by Picasso as antique pieces that come from the Louvre, that come from Naples, those places that Picasso intensely frequented and knew and influenced his imagination and his esthetics. This is what this exhibition is about, to show how these pieces play an important part in the career of this artist who revolutionized art in the twentieth century, says Picard.
The exhibit include 200 pieces including works by Picasso along with works of ancient art which inspired the great master, from the Musée National Picasso in Paris and other major European museums.
Another important section is dedicated to the mythology behind the kiss and the role women played in Picasso's life. .
The kiss for me was to introduce the importance of femininity in the works of Picasso which is absolutely central in all his work and in each period of his life, happiness, conjugal harmony, periods of fighting or difficulty there is an antiquity, a specific interpretation of antiquity, says Picard.
There is plenty of romance here placed alongside a copy of Auguste Rodin's iconic The Kiss statue.
PIcasso was a great lover of women and had several wives, muses and lovers.
The female for was a recurrent theme for the artist, says Picard.
Picasso says when a woman comes into my life she tears up everything and she tears up my paintings as well. With Picasso we see that it is always the emotion that primes and we get rid of all those pretexts that were necessary around the subject, the literary source, the form we had to give and all those pretexts we had to give in order to talk about love. Picasso, on that point of view, is the artist that marvellously painted this love in all its passionate dimensions.
The exhibit shows how the use of ancient art is recurrent throughout the artist's career and forms of expression, whether in drawings, painting and even sculptures.
Picasso Metamorphosis runs from 18 October to 17 February 2019 at the Palazzo Reale in Milan.

Spain-Sevilla/Torro Sevilla-Guadalquivir river-Tower of Gold Part 4
Welcome to my travelchannel. ☛☛☞☛

The Torre del Oro (English: Tower of Gold) is a dodecagonal military watchtower in Seville, southern Spain. It was erected by the Almohad Caliphate in order to control access to Seville via the Guadalquivir river.Constructed in the first third of the 13th century, the tower served as a prison during the Middle Ages. The Tower of Gold was built 1220–1221, by order of the Almohad governor of Seville, Abu l-Ulà, with a twelve-sided base. It barred the way to the Arenal district with a section of wall joining it to the Tower of Silver, a part of the city walls that defended the Alcazar. Its name comes from the golden shine it projected on the river, due to its building materials. The tower is divided into three levels, the first level, dodecagonal, was built in 1220 by order of the Almohad governor of Seville, Abù l-Ulà; As for the second level, of only 8 meters, also dodecagonal, was built by Peter of Castile in the fourteenth century, a hypothesis that has been confirmed by archaeological studies; The third and uppermost being circular in shape was added after the previous third level, Almohad, was damaged by the 1755 Lisbon earthquake. Rebuilding of the third level was made by Brusselian military engineer Sebastian Van der Borcht in 1760.
The Torre de la Plata, an octagonal tower, is located nearby, and is believed to have been constructed during the same era.
Military function: It is one of two anchor points for a large chain that would have been able to block the river. The other anchor-point has since been demolished or disappeared, possibly collapsing during the 1755 Lisbon earthquake. The chain was used in the city's defense against the Castilian fleet under Ramón de Bonifaz in the 1248 Reconquista. Bonifaz broke the river defenses and isolated Seville from Triana.

PERUGIA AND THE EUROCHOCOLATE
OUR TRAVEL THROUGH ITALY CONTINUES! TODAY WE ARE GOING TO DISCOVER PERUGIA, THE CAPITAL OF UMBRIA, PLACED IN THE GREEN HEART OF ITALY, IN A STUNNING PANORAMIC POINT OF VIEW ON THE SURROUNDING HILLS!
A TOUR OF PERUGIA MUST BEGIN IN 4TH OF NOVEMBER SQUARE, THE HEART OF THE OLD TOWN. HERE YOU FIND THE MAIN ATTRACTIONS OF THE CITY, JUST LIKE THE CATHEDRAL, DEDICATED TO SAINT LORENZ, ONE OF THE SAINT PATRON OF PERUGIA, THE MAJESTIC PALAZZO DEI PRIORI, VANNUCCI STREET, NAMED AFTER ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT ARTISTS WHO WORKED HERE: PIETRO VANNUCCI, BETTER KNOWN AS PERUGINO, AND THE FONTANA MAGGIORE, A MEDIEVAL FOUNTAIN, SYMBOL OF THE CITY OF PERUGIA.
THEY HAVE BEEN WORKING AT THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE CATHEDRAL FOR MORE THAN 150 YEARS, AND IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED IN WHITE AND PINK MARBOL BUT IT WAS PLACED ONLY ON THE LOWER PART OF THE SIDE FAÇADE, THAT’S WHY THE CATHEDRAL IS ALSO KNOWN AS THE “NAKED CHURCH”, AND - SOMETHING CURIOUS - IT’S THE SIDE FAÇADE AND NOT THE FRONT ONE TO OVERLOOK THE SQUARE.
ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF 4TH OF NOVEMBER SQUARE WE FIND THE PALAZZO DEI PRIORI, ONE OF THE BEST MEDIEVAL BUILDINGS IN ITALY. ON THE FAÇADE THERE ARE THE COPIES OF THE BRONZE SCULPTURES OF THE LION AND THE GRIFFIN, THE SYMBOLS OF PERUGIA, THE AUTHENTIC ONES ARE INSIDE THE PALACE BECAUSE THEY ARE THE OLDEST AND BIGGEST MEDIEVAL BRONZE SCULPTURES EVER MADE IN ITALY.
IN THE OLDEST PART OF THE BUILDING THE “SALA DEI NOTARI” IS COVERED IN PRECIOUS FRESCOS, INCLUDING A FRESCO MADE BY PINTURICCHIO.
BUT THE MASTERPIECE YOU CANNOT MISS IS IN THE OLD ROOMS OF THE COLLEGIO DEL CAMBIO: THE MOST IMPORTANT WORK OF PERUGINO IS ONE OF THE MAIN PAINTINGS OF THE 15TH CENTURY. PART OF THE PAINTINGS WERE COMPLETED BY ONE OF HIS PUPILS, RAFFAELLO! THESE FRESCOES WERE DESCRIBED AS ONE OF THE THREE BEST CEILINGS IN THE WORLD!
PERUGIA IS ALSO THE CITY OF CHOCOLATE! THE EUROCHOCOLATE IS THE BIGGEST FESTIVAL IN EUROPE DEDICATED TO CHOCOLATE! 500 YARDS OF STREETS AND SQUARES IN THE HEARTS OF PERUGIA COVERED IN STANDS FULL OF CHOCOLATE!
PERUGINA:
THE HOUSE OF CHOCOLATE EXISTS! AND IT IS FEW MILES FROM THE CITY CENTER OF PERUGIA. IN THIS UNIQUE PLACE YOU CAN DISCOVER HOW THE “FOOD OF THE GODS” IS MADE! IN THE MUSEUM OF THE FACTORY YOU WILL KNOW THE STORY OF CHOCOLATE AND THE STORY OF THE FIRM, OLD MACHINERY, VISITORS ARE BROUGHT IN THE HEART OF THE FACTORY WHERE THEY CAN SEE HOW CHOCOLATE IS WORKED. THEN YOU CAN WALK ON A MULTITUDE OF BARS OF CHOCOLATE OR, TAKE CLASS WITH THE MOST CAPABLE CHOCOLATE HEADMASTERS, AND IF YOU FEEL TIRED YOU CAN SIT AND RELAX ON A FLOOR MADE OF CHOCOLATE PRALINES! STRONG POINT OF THE EXHIBIT IS THE LEGENDARY BACIO PERUGINA: FROM THE BRILLIANT IDEA OF LUISA SPAGNOLI TO THE GUINNES WORLD RECORD BACIO, THE BIGGEST CHOCOLATE PRALINE IN THE WORLD! 7 FEET TALL AND 7,6 FEET WIDE - 13.000 POUNDS OF CHOCOLATE!
ROCCA PAOLINA:
IT IS A FORTRESS BUILT BY AND NAMED AFTER THE POPE PAOLO FARNESE THE 3RD, WHO WANTED TO FORTIFY THE CITY. IN ORDER TO BUILD THE FORTRESS THE POPE WANTED AN ENTIRE DISTRICT OF PERUGIA TO BE DESTROYED, THAT’S WHY THIS FORTRESS BECAME THE ICON OF THE AUTHORITY OF THE POPE, SO IN 1860 IT WAS LARGELY DESTROYED.
NOWADAYS WE CAN SEE A HUGE GATE CALLED PORTA MARZIA AND THE UNDERGROUND FORTRESS, WITH SHOPS, WORKSHOPS, OLD ALLEYS AND HOUSES OF THE MEDIEVAL PERUGIA. THE FORTRESS IS ALSO AN EXHIBITION CENTRE AND IT HOSTS MANY EVENTS.
THE MEDIEVAL ACQUEDUCT OF PERUGIA:
IT IS MORE THAN 2,5 MILES LONG, BUILT IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE 13TH CENTURY TO BRING WATER TO THE OLD TOWN. WITHOUT PUMPS BUT JUST WITH A PRESSURIZE DUCT THE WATER COULD REACH THE HIGHEST POINT OF THE HILL, THAT IS THE FONTANA MAGGIORE. THE ACQUEDUCT WAS CAST OFF IN 1835 AND IT WAS CONVERTED INTO A STREET WITH MANY HOUSES, NOWADAYS MAYBE THE MOST SUGGESTIVE STREET IN PERUGIA.
THE WORKSHOP OF GLASSPAINTERS MORETTI CASELLI:
IT WAS FOUNDED BY FRANCESCO MORETTI IN 1895.
YEARS LATER HIS GREAT NEPHEWS ROSA AND CECILIA CARRIED ON THE ACTIVITY. THEY REALIZED MANY STAINED-GLASS WINDOWS, AMONG THOSE THE VERY FAMOUS ONE THAT REPRODUCE LEONARDO DA VINCI’S LAST SUPPER, NOWADAYS EXPOSED IN THE CEMETERY OF GLENDALE, IN LOS ANGELES.
ONE OF ROSA AND CECILIA’S GREAT NEPHEW ORGANIZES INTERESTING GUIDED TOURS IN THIS UNIQUE WORKSHOP WERE PEOPLE CAN PLUNGE INTO HISTORY AND ENJOY AN OLD CRAFT CARRIED ON FOR CENTURIES.
IN THE WORKSHOP THERE ARE STILL OLD TOOLS, COLOURS, PAINTINGS, PLASTERS, FURNACES THAT TESTIFY THE LIFE OF THESE GREAT ARTISTS AND THE REBIRTH OF THIS ANCIENT ART FORM.
ACROSS THE YEARS THESE ARTISTS CREATED MANY PIECES FOR THE CHURCH OF SANTA MARIA DEGLI ANGELI IN ASSISI, MANY STAINED-GLASS WINDOWS FOR THE CATHEDRAL OF PERUGIA AND TODI, WORKS FOR THE INTERNATIONAL EXPOSITION OF 1867 IN PARIS, AND THE PORTRAIT OF THE QUEEN MARGHERITA.

Knockbreda Rocky Road Night Walk Views
Yesterday I filmed my walk along the Rocky Road, Castlereagh Hills above the Knockbreda Dual carriageway. This time I'm filming the night time views of Belfast from much the same vantage point. This steep road links the Knock dual carriageway with the Manse Road. The walk offers wonderful panoramic views over the city of Belfast both in daytime and nighttime.

Entry from: Rome, Italy
Entry Title: Rome November 2009
Entry:
I went to Rome for Turkey Day. Italians don't know about Thanksgiving, but the Xmas decorations sprung out on Friday, right on time. Santa Claus and Baroque architecture, childish to ancient, profane to sanctimonious. In Rome, a city where nothing is new, the opposites don't attract, they just tolerate each other in a stand-off. Lingerie ads on the churches.
Rome is the eternal city, 2765 years old, according to the suckling wolf story. It was the largest city on earth at about 1,000,000 residents during the Imperial period, then vacated to 20,000 during the Middle Ages, back to about 3 million today. It has had so many rich historical periods that the museums are specialized -- Prehistoric, Etruscan, Egyptian, Early Medieval, High Medieval, Papal Gifts, Construction discoveries, Municipal Gifts, Imperial Rome, Jewish, Public Baths, Renaissance, Post Renaissance, Papal collections, Cardinal collections, Family Collections, Modern, Contemporary, Pasta, Archaeological, Catacombs, and Literary. About 40 major museums, not counting ...
the Vatican Museums -- acquisitions and commissions enabled by indescribable, sustained wealth and power. Nothing else like it, beyond financial measure. 6 square foot Raphael paintings sell for $50 million. He painted something like 6,000 sf in the Vatican. The value of the Sistine Chapel? Money has no meaning. The last pope started a modern art gallery in 1973, in order to display a collection that was largely donated by artists over the past 2 centuries just to claim that they had paintings in the Vatican -- Van Gogh, DeChirico, Feininger, Kandinsky, Bottero, Severini -- 30 rooms of art, an afterthought in Vatican terms, but a world renowned billion dollar collection on its own.
No place knows culture like Rome. Beijing, Athens, Cairo, Istanbul have their depth, but no place commands influence in art, architecture, history, politics, military and style like Rome. The City learned to bury its treasures during times of war, having been sacked dozens of times. With lots of treasures and lots of sackings, Rome's subsoil is still a gold mine of culture. Populations were often dispersed, records of the burials lost. It was common during the centuries, as it is today, to unearth spectacular intact Greek and Roman artifacts, like the Laocoon sculpture, commissioned and transported to Rome from Rhodes in the 1st century BC, but lost for centuries under Nero's Golden House. Its discovery in 1506 became a sensation involving Pope Julius II (Il Papa Terrible for his bad temperament), Michaelangelo, Raphael and a contest to restore the missing pieces. Michaelangelo's entry lost, but 400 years later, the missing arm was discovered and found to be almost identical to the one he proposed.
The architecture, monuments, palaces, and ruins track Western history. You can see where Caesar was stabbed in 44 BC, where Hadrian bought his fruit, where Caligula partied, where Michaelangelo wrote poetry, where Caravaggio murdered one of his critics, where Leonardo played practical jokes, where Mussolini entertained Hitler.
Rome has always been serious about its image. The City was built to have substance. Romans invented concrete and they have continued to build with the most enduring materials available. You won't find any particle board in Santa Maria Maggiore. Street curbs and gutters are marble, fences are cast iron, many streets are granite, garbage bins are terrazzo. The Palazzos of the wealthy are astounding constructions, many of them now housing the museums noted above, some converted to public use like the American Embassy in Palazzo Margherita and the French Embassy in Palazzo Farnese. The Barberini Palace is a ...

20 Things to do in Florence, Italy Travel Guide Video Transcript: (FIRENZE)
Florence: when it comes to Renaissance art, there’s probably no better city in the world to soak it all in!
Our time here was spent viewing works by Italian masters both in museums and public spaces, marvelling at the architecture - in particular Florence Cathedral and its massive dome, going in search of the best lookout points, and eating plenty of pizza & gelato sharing the best things to do in Florence on your visit.
We paid 15 Euros for a ticket that gave us access to 5 attractions associated with Florence Cathedral. Giotto’s Campanile, the bell tower stands 84.7 metres with 414 steps.
We made our way over to our next attraction: the Baptistry. Known as both the Florence Baptistry and the Baptistry of Saint John.
We continued to Museo dell’Opera del Duomo, which is a museum dedicated to conserving artworks relating to Florence Cathedral.
It was time to climb the dome of Florence Cathedral. We ate our gelato at Grom and it was delicious.
The Uffizi Gallery is considered one of the best museums in the world focusing on the Italian Renaissance. Most of the art collection you see today was gifted to the city of Florence by Anna Maria Luisa, the last Medici heiress.
From Uffizi Gallery you get some pretty cool views of Ponte Vecchio and the Arno River from a higher vantage point.
We visited in Florence was Piazza della Signoria, an L-shaped square right in the heart of the city. A landmark in this square is Palazzo Vecchio or the Town Hall. And to the right of this building, you have the Loggia dei Lanzi.
Speaking of David, we did find him, over at Galleria dell’Accademia. Michelangelo’s David depicts the Biblical David carved out of a single block of marble.
Ponte Vecchia during the 16th century that one of the Medici ordered for the butcher shops to be replaced with jewellers.
When it comes to sunset in Florence, there are no better views than from Piazzale Michelangelo overlooking the historic center on the other side of the Arno River.
This indoor market is foodie central with the second floor of the market is filled with eateries. Central Market is a great place to pick up ingredients to bring back to your kitchen.
We hope you enjoyed this Florence travel guide and that it gave you ideas of things to do.
