Bratislava, Slovakia virtual tour
There are slides of Bratislava Castle, Devin castle, Church of St. Elisabeth, Blue church, Most SNP, UFO bridge, Primates' Palace, Slovak National Theatre, Bratislava City Museum, etc.
Bratislava is the capital of Slovakia, and with a population of about 500,000, the country's largest city. The greater metropolitan area is home to more than 650,000 people. Bratislava is in southwestern Slovakia, occupying both banks of the River Danube and the left bank of the River Morava. Bordering Austria and Hungary, it is the only national capital that borders two independent countries.
Bratislava is the political, cultural and economic centre of Slovakia. It is the seat of the Slovak president, the parliament and the Slovak Executive. It is home to several universities, museums, theatres, galleries and other important cultural and educational institutions. Many of Slovakia's large businesses and financial institutions also have headquarters there.
The history of the city has been strongly influenced by people of different nations and religions, namely by Austrians, Czechs, Hungarians, Jews, Serbs and Slovaks. The city was the capital of the Kingdom of Hungary, a part of the larger Habsburg Monarchy territories, from 1536 to 1783 and has been home to many Slovak, Hungarian and German historical figures.
Slovakia: Second Jewish cemetery vandalised in under ten days

Tombstones were found vandalised and graves desecrated on Friday at Rajec's Jewish cemetery, the second Jewish cemetery to be targeted by an anti-Semitic attack in Slovakia in recent days.
The desecration of a second cemetery in Slovakia in two weeks is sadly not an isolated act in Europe, said Jewish publicist and journalist Konstanty Gebert. Very few people visit the tombs of their relatives in Jewish cemeteries because there are very few relatives alive. The hatred must be powerful enough that insulting the dead, even if no living are insulted, gives satisfaction.
On December 18 a previous incident in the northern Slovakian town of Namestovo left at least 59 gravestones vandalised in a Jewish cemetery.
I would like to look into the eyes of the person who did it or the people who did it. I would ask them why they bullied dead people? It is not a coincidence that Jews live in Rajec or Namestovo. What do they want to prove to us? Those who did it will be hard to catch, I am very sad because of that, said Zilina's Jewish Community Chairman Pavel Franki.
According to the Institute for Jewish Policy Research, in 2016 around 2,600 people (0.05 percent of the total population) identified as Jewish in Slovakia, with the number increasing a further 2,000 if family members and converts are included.

Slovakia: Hundreds march through Bratislava to counter spead of fascist ideology
Hundreds of people took to the streets of Bratislava, Saturday, to protest against fascism and oppose a march organised by neo-nazi and far-right groups organised, but later cancelled, for the same day.
Matej Sutovec, from the Antifascists in Bratislava initiative, addressed the crowd, stating We have to be cautious. We have to be cautious also against the trap of the idea of extremism.
SOT, Stanislav Micev, Director of the Museum of Slovak National Uprising (Slovak): People's Party Our Slovakia supporters are mostly young people. And who are you? Are you seniors? You are those who stand against him. If 20 percent of people support him, it means 80 percent are against him.
SOT, Matej Sutovec, Antifascists in Bratislava initiative (Slovak): They will misuse people's worries of fascists, and call themselves as alternative. Some of them are already doing that. We have to be cautious. We have to be cautious also against the trap of the idea of extremism.
SOT, Dana Vitalosova, Feminist activist (Slovak): First we let them march in the streets, then spread their ideology on internet, then patrol in trains as police should do. Finally, they are in the national parliament.

Babiš sues Slovakia over his listing as communist-era secret police agent | Radio Prague
Czech Prime Minister-designate Andrej Babiš (ANO) has reportedly filed a lawsuit against Slovakia at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, in the latest chapter of a long-running dispute over whether he was falsely listed as an agent of Czechoslovakia’s communist-era police, the StB. The Slovak-born billionaire maintains that while he did meet with the StB when he was an employee of a Czechoslovak foreign trade firm, he never pledged to cooperate with them. In February, the Regional ...

Slovakia: Protesters demand resignation of Interior Minister Kalinak
Hundreds of protesters gathered in the centre of Bratislava, Monday, to call for the resignation of Slovakian Interior Minister Robert Kalinak, following a scandal in which a contact of his, entrepreneur Ladislav Basternak, was accused of fraud.
Protesters marched towards the Bonaparte complex, where Prime Minister Robert Fico and Interior Minister Robert Kalinak both have apartments. Basternak owns the apartment complex. Fico has reportedly stated that if Basternak should be proven to have committed any crime, then he would move out of the building.
Monday’s protest was organised by leaders of the opposition parties - Ordinary People and Independent Personalities and Freedom and Solidarity.
SOT, Miroslav Pollak, activist and former Slovak government's deputy for Roma communities (Slovak): We want Robert Kalinak [Slovak Interior Minister] to resign for what he has done. And we want Robert Fico [Slovak Prime Minister] to move out from this apartment, which has been paid from our taxes.
SOT, Martin Poliacik, Freedom and Solidarity party member (Slovak): Robert Fico [Slovak Prime Minister] says that we are just spreading hatred with the aim to destroy Slovakia's presidency in the European Union.
SOT, Daniel Lipsic, Ordinary People and Independent Personalities party member (Slovak): Basternak [Ladislav Basternak, owner of the housing complex] is just the top of the iceberg. That octopus is stealing from this state to the disadvantage of us and our children.

Pedestrians, tramways and bikes sharing space in Bratislava
Another proof that tramways, pedestrians and bikes can coexist safely and share the same street space without fences, traffic lights, underpasses and special signs. However - entry by cars is stricly limited what leads to the liveable, human friendly, functional, convenient and quiet space. At the end you can even hear birds singing!
