2013, October 1st. A boat trip to the isle of Port Cros - one of Les Iles d'Hyeres off the south of France. Just time for a visit to the harbour village and to two of the forts to be found on this nature reserve island as we make our way to the Plage de la Palud

Snorkeling in Port Cros National Park, South France
Plage de la Palud, located at the heart of Port Cros - Porquerolles National Park, is our favorite snorkeling spot in South France -and one of the top spots in the whole Mediterranean. There, you’ll have good chances to meet huge gilt-head bream, greater amberjack, dusky grouper and brown meagre, some species that are almost impossible to spot at snorkeling depth elsewhere in South France. More than 15 marine species can be seen in this short video.

Port Cros ist die kleinste der drei goldenen Inseln (Iles d'or) vor der Cote d'Azur, Südfrankreich. Sie ist Naturschutzgebiet. Die Fische hier baden gemeinsam mit uns und fressen aus der Hand!
Parco Nazionale di Port-Cros
Il Parco nazionale di Port-Cros si trova nel sud della Francia di fronte alla citta di Hyéres. Creato il 14 dicembre 1963, è il secondo più vecchio parco nazionale francese e, attualmente, il più importante operatore nella salvaguardia del patrimonio naturale e culturale dell'arcipelago di Hyères. Nel 1997 il Parco si è visto assegnare un diploma, a riconoscimento dei suoi sforzi, da parte del Consiglio europeo. Ricopre per la sua ricchezza naturalistica, una posizione di primaria importanza nella salvaguardia della biodiversità sia per quel che concerne la flora selvaggia mediterranea, sia come punto di riferimento degli uccelli migratori che dall'Africa si spostano in Europa, oltre che per la particolarità del fondo marino ricco di posidonie e di pesce. Si salpa dal porto di Hyerès, alla volta dell' Arcipelago d'oro.
Sulla destra del battello il profilo della frequentatissima Porquerolles e quello dell'isola Bagaud (riserva integrale) e poi circa un'ora dopo, l'attracco all' incantevole porticciolo dell'isola.
Qui, attraversando l'abitato tipicamente provenzale ci si inoltra nel Vallone della Solitude, un arido ed ombroso bosco di lecci e sughere sino a guadagnare il sentiero che ci porterà in cresta.
Procedendo, tra la fitta e selvaggia vegetazione mediterranea, non si può che rimanere colpiti da molteplici sensazioni.
Aromi... di erbe e di resina, colori...tonalità verdi cupo - argentee che si confondono nell'azzurro del mare, profumi...di salsedine, carezze ...della brezza marina.
Raggiunto un belvedere dal quale potremo ammirare le falesie che caratterizzano il versante sud e l'isola de la Gabinière , ritorneremo indietro per un breve tratto per visitare l'esposizione permanente sulla fragilità dell'ambiente marino mediterraneo allestita nel Forte dell'Estissac.
Non può mancare, visto il periodo estivo, un bagno alla plage de la Palud dove e' possibile visitare un percorso sottomarino che con l'aiuto di 6 boe dotate di pannelli esplicativi immersi ci permette di esplorare la fauna e la flora dell'isola (in certi momenti sembrava di notare in un acquario

Der Nationalpark Port-Cros an der Côte d'Azur bietet für viele Pflanzen und Tiere ein Rückzugsgebiet. Speziell wegen den großen Zackenbarschen, die man dort häufig antrifft hat es uns dort hin gezogen. Die Unterwasserlandschaften von Cap Camerat, Cap Taillat und Cap Ladier liegen in der Nähe und auch dort kann man das Mittelmeer von seiner schönen Seite er-tauchen.

Scuba in Port-Cros Marine Park (France) : Barracudas and Groupers !
Here is a short footage about our last dive in Port-Cros Marine Park with Saint P'hyeres Plongee scuba center (South of France) in Hyères. Our mediterranean sea offers a lot of sea life especially a lot of barracudas and big groupers... enjoy !

We go back in time about 10 years which gives a little impression of a travel movie I never wanted to publish featuring the Cote D'Azur in France. I decided only to showcase a view scenes here, as most of the video is unusable due to heavy wind noises caused by a too sensitive microphone.
Furthermore it was a backpacking tour, unfortunately with extreme bad weather as I managed to be in France during the Mistral. The video ends with Neptune...
