Portmeirion
Portmeirion, a popular tourist village in Gwynedd, North Wales, served as the exotic setting for the 'mysterious village' where a former British secret agent was abducted to and held captive in the 1967/8 television series of 'The Prisoner', starring Patrick McGoohan. It was designed by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis and built between 1925 and 1975 in the style of an Italian village. He incorporated in it fragments of demolished buildings, including works by a number of other architects.

Short holiday in Portmeirion Wales
Just a flying visit to Porthmadog and Portmeirion on the Western Welsh coast.
We stayed over night in Porthmadog, then headed across to Portmeirion the next day - it is a really unique place, and only £12 entry to the village but there are fantastic trails around the village and beautiful coastal views.
We spent around 4 hours at Portmeirion which was plenty to see all the sights.

Portmeirion weekend 2009
A great weekend spent in the picturesque village of Portmeirion in north Wales. This was my be-lated birthday present from my lovely wife Teresa. Me being a fan of the brilliant cult TV series 'The Prisoner', it was good to explore the village and stay in its beautiful bridge house and surroundings..The rooms in our apartment were stylish, prestine and comfortable, the hotel food was very good, and the waiters and staff were so friendly and helpful. I cannot fault anything with our stay, except that it went too quickly! We didn't want to 'escape'...
The unexpected bonus on the last night was the firework display,- right outside our window! (Thanks to the wedding that had taken place in the afternoon.) A weekend ending with a BANG! lol................'be seeing you........'

Local service only! Being driven on a golf cart in September 2017 from the entrance to The Village at Portmeirion in Wales, down through its beautiful interior to the hotel at the bottom. This is the place where The Prisoner TV series was filmed.

Portmeirion is a tourist village in Gwynedd, North Wales. It was designed and built by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis between 1925 and 1975 in the style of an Italian village, and is now owned by a charitable trust.
The village is located in the community of Penrhyndeudraeth, on the estuary of the River Dwyryd, 2 miles (3.2 km) south east of Porthmadog, and 1 mile (1.6 km) from Minffordd railway station.
Portmeirion has served as the location for numerous films and television shows, and was The Village in the 1960s television show The Prisoner.
