RUN : Cascais to Estoril - Portugal
Welcome to Portugal!
You are on a running trail along the coastline from Cascais to Estoril, just 20-25 kms from the Portuguese capital, Lisbon.
This amazing long stretch of coastline is a great destination for visitors to sample fantastic food, warm hospitality as well as climate and wonderful natural surroundings. As you can see for you sports lover there is a lot on offer too with dedicated cycling lanes throughout, several Golf courses, nautical sports with a lovely marina, water sports and even horseback riding! But this also remains a fantastic spot to go for a run!
The town of Cascais itself is a cosmopolitan suburb of the Portuguese capital and one of the richest municipalities in the country. Also a popular daytrip location for those visiting Lisbon, this former fishing village gained a reputation as a resort for the Portuguese Royal Family in the late 19th Century. Our trail takes you along part of the “Portuguese Riviera” from Cascais with the district of Estoril, a slightly quieter area that sits just a few kilometres away, towards Lisbon.
Enjoy, as we take you on a lovely run on this wonderful continuous promenade!

Portugal Holiday | Cascais
Cascais is a beautiful little costal town located only 20 minutes west of Lisbon. It was a perfect destination to spend a quick relaxing vacation drinking by the pool, and exploring the abundance of beaches and cliffs stretching down the coastline.
Cycling from Cascais to Guincho Beach video :
We stayed at Hotel Baia, which provided for some awesome sunrise views. Check out my time lapse video if you want to see them all in their entirety.
Unfortunately one of my cameras was set to record at 720p 60 fps by mistake, so some of the video is less then optimal. Sorry for that.

Hiking Around Sintra | Rediscovering Portugal
A small adventure to the Reserva Natural de Cascais-Sintra in Portugal. We heard there was an awesome view, so we went looking for it.
And then went for a quick golden hour goodness on our way down. Guincho never disappoints.

CYCLE : Cascais to Guincho - Portugal
Welcome to Portugal!
This is a cycle trail from the seaside town of Cascais to Guincho Beach, just 25 kms from the capital, Lisbon.
The scenic road you will be cycling has been used in several TV productions and even a James Bond movie was shot at Guincho beach in the 60s.
The beach is famous for its golden sands and water sport activities. In the summer you have strong North-Western winds, which is great for kite surfing and windsurfing. In autumn and winter, the wind calms down and you´ll find some perfect waves. Several international surf and body board championships are being organized here regularly.
From Guincho beach you will also be able to see the Cabo da Roca, a cape which forms the westernmost extent of continental Europe. And behind that you will also see the Sintra mountains. Sintra is known for its many 19th-century romantic architectural monuments, which resulted in its classification as UNESCO World Heritage site. It has become a major tourist centre and in addition to the mountains and the nature park, Sintra is dotted with royal retreats, estates, castles and other buildings, including the mediaeval Castle of the Moors, the Pena Palace and Sintra National Palace.

Cycling Cascais To Guincho Beach | Portugal
Cycling from Cascais to Guincho beach. The 5km bike path is extremely well kept, and follows the coastline the entire way providing some pretty epic views.
When I was researching this before getting to Cascais, I kept seeing that there are free bicas. However, those articles and posts seem to be pretty old, and I don't think they exist anymore. Cascais seems to have a pretty standard bike sharing system with stations around the city and a mobile app you can use to take them (which I assume you pay for). Honestly, I downloaded the app but gave up trying to register because I didn't have all the necessary information (Portuguese number, address, etc). We wound up just renting bikes from a local place, which was fine because they were much better bikes then the bike share ones.
I haven't seen many videos on YouTube that show the entire bike path, so hopefully this will provide a little insight of what to expect to someone out there.
