10 richest towns in the usa Forget what you've heard about the tech boom on the West Coast – the country's richest families are shacking up in the suburbs of the Northeast.
For its annual roundup, 24/7 Wall St. looked at median household income levels in U.S. towns with populations under 25,000 to determine the wealthiest town in every state.
Curious which ones came out on top? So were we, so we focused in on the highest earners on 24/7 Wall St.'s list.
Clocking in at number one: Scarsdale, New York, boasting a median income of $241,453 and followed closely by neighbors in New Jersey and Connecticut. In fact, more than half the cities in the top ten are on the East Coast. Hello, old money.
Using data from the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey, 24/7 Wall St.'s findings are actually pretty consistent with that of Forbes' most recent Most Expensive Zip Codes ranking, which was based on the median asking prices for single-family houses and condominiums across the U.S.

Roosevelt Island is owned by the city, but was leased to the state of New York's Urban Development Corporation for 99 years in 1969. Most of the residential buildings on Roosevelt Island are rental buildings. There is also a cooperative (Rivercross) and a condominium building (Riverwalk). Derek Jeter has put a $2 million discount on his luxe Midtown bachelor pad. The Post drools:

Top 10 Hotels in New York City
10. Baccarat Hotel & Residences—New York
9. The Lowell
The location of this Madison Avenue hotel, one block away from Central Park and around the corner from Fifth Avenue’s flagships (Barney’s, Bendel’s, Bloomie’s), is hard to beat. An Art Deco exterior gives way to spacious, European-inspired rooms decorated with one-of-a-kind antiques and gold curtains, plus authentic wood-burning fireplaces.
8. WestHouse Hotel New York
Far north enough in Midtown to escape the Times Square bustle, this luxury boutique hotel opened in 2013, showcasing Art Deco–style interiors in cool neutral tones that were inspired by the performers' dressing rooms in nearby Carnegie Hall. A customized scent wafts through the public spaces, and guests can enjoy breakfast and afternoon libations with stellar views of the city on the 23rd floor, at rooftop lounge the Terrace.
7. Langham Place, New York, Fifth Avenue
Three blocks north of the Empire State Building on Fifth Avenue, this hotel has spacious rooms starting at a generous-for–New York 400-square-feet that are filled with natural light and supple surfaces. All units are outfitted with walnut furnishings, wondrously comfortable Duxiana beds, and deep soaking tubs, while the apartment suites each have a full stainless-steel kitchen. The hotel is also home to several original paintings by New York City artist Alex Katz—the lobby is a great place to start learning about his work.
6. Roxy Hotel
At the crossroads of SoHo and Tribeca, this 201-room newcomer is the highest debut of this year’s Reader’s Choice Awards. The property is a reinvention of the iconic Tribeca Grand Hotel; and as its new incarnation, The Roxy channels an artsy vibe with the offerings to match, like a cellar jazz club, a screening room, and an organic coffee shop attracting film and fashion types. Guest rooms have a stylish yet residential feel and come with a few quirky amenities (such as a pet goldfish for your stay).
5. Park Hyatt New York
Opened in summer 2014 in the new One57 skyscraper tower on Billionaires' Row of West 57th Street, this five-star Midtown modern marvel is this year’s second biggest gainer on the Reader’s Choice Awards list, up from its debut at #21 last year. Listen to classical music underwater in the 25th-floor swimming pool, get a spa treatment on a top-floor terrace, and then retire to textile-rich rooms outfitted in rich browns and creams and featuring custom furniture pieces (think: leather trunks that double as minibars).
4. Library Hotel
As its name suggests, this hotel is a bibliophile's haven; It is housed in an elegant, ten-story circa 1900 landmark building on the corner of Madison Avenue and 41st Street, just around the corner from the New York Public Library, and each floor is themed after one of ten categories of the Dewey Decimal System. Comfy armchairs, an oasis of a rooftop garden, and a roaring fireplace in winter together create a highly intimate experience.
3. Crosby Street Hotel
On the eastern edge of Soho, this Kit Kemp–designed 11-story brownstone has floor-to-ceiling windows in rooms that thoroughly embrace the English interior decorator’s colorful and eclectic flair. Expect cheerful fabrics, sophisticated wallpaper patterns, tall headboards, sleek modern furniture, and bold, color-blocked paint at this boutique hotel, which is also environmentally certified as a LEED Gold property.
2. The Peninsula New York
Embracing its Beaux-Arts glamour, this hotel just off of tony Fifth Avenue doesn't hold back on luxury trimmings, all in muted shades of camel and beige. Marvel at the hotel’s façade—it features limestone carvings, a copper cornice, and Doric columns—and gawk at the Manhattan skyline, sipping “Ning Sling” cocktails at the Salon de Ning rooftop bar, which is open year-round. And the luxury doesn’t only extend to human guests: The pet-friendly Peninsula will pamper your dog too.
1. The Surrey
For the second year in a row, Traveler readers bestowed top marks on this understated, 189-room, Upper East Side stunner. Peering over a particularly posh stretch of Madison Avenue (just one block west of Central Park), New York City’s sole Relais & Châteaux-branded property is an excellent find in a metropolis notorious for cramped quarters. The lobby’s Art Deco-inspired black-and-gray palette is echoed in generously sized guest rooms with Dux by Duxiana beds and oversized bathrooms. Order 24-hour room service from Café Boulud and sip cocktails on the butler-attended rooftop.
TOP FLOOR OF EMPIRE STATE BUILDING IN NEW YORK AMERICA
The accents of the 5 boroughs of NYC -- a how to by a native -- the real deal!
A tongue-in-cheek demo of New York City's varied accents by each borough: The Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and Manhattan. I explain not only how to make the sounds but more importantly, the psychological reason behind them - sorta : ). Voiced my me, a NYC native - this is the real deal folks!
Ratings appreciated.
p.s. I know it s/b you're not your & that the map of Brooklyn is too small (on the left) but it was too late to fix.
I did not attempt African American/Latino accents as I can't do them justice. Thanks for watching.

Oyster's Coolest New York Pools
The pool at the Trump SoHo just opened this summer and it’s already a social hotspot. It may be small (as almost all NYC pools are), but it’s hip, heated, and right next to the ultra-cool Bar d’Eau. Another plus? The balcony features a bocce court. On the 12th floor, the rooftop pool at The Empire Hotel offers amazing views of the the Upper West Side – including a glimpse of Central Park. A retractable roof allows for a longer season, and the patio features posh cabanas complete with TVs, iPod docks, ceiling fans, and mini-fridges. Hotel Gansevoort is one of the hippest hotels in the city and the sexy rooftop pool is a major draw. Not only is it one of the largest outdoor pools in the city, but it is also open 365 days a year and features an underwater sound system. Opened less than a year ago, The James has one of the most stylish rooftop pools in the city — and one of the most luxurious. For a small fee (guests are already paying a pretty penny for the rooms), sunbathers can hire a personal tanning consultant, who not only preps their lounge chairs and periodically brings them water, but will also text them when it’s time to flip. When on vacation, why should you have to do anything yourself? The rooftop pool at Soho House makes regular appearances in New York society headlines for its popular parties and socialite sightings. Guests staying at the hotel take back seat to members of the Soho House club, but at least they can say they partied with the best of them (and at the site of a Sex and the City episode.) Just like its downtown sister, the less-than-a-year-old Gansevoort Park Avenue features a sexy rooftop pool, complete with a pinup girl mural. Perhaps better than the pool at Hotel Gansevoort? This pool offers views of the Empire State Building.
Eventi Hotel New York City
The Eventi hotel is super chic in Chelsea. It's difficult for a hotel in Manhattan to not be close to something incredible, but regardless, Eventi is a short cab ride to everything good. When you think of an intimately posh soiree, the Eventi's lobby could be the backdrop. In fact, the hotel hosts wine tastings in the lobby.
For most, money is a factor. An entry suite is the solution for those traveling in a set of 3 without the cost of another room. Or, use it for more space for the two of you. Eventi's one-bedroom suite is comfortable, functional and tasteful.

⁴ᴷ⁶⁰ Walking NYC (Narrated) : SoHo, Manhattan (July 10, 2019)
Google Maps Route:
Join me as I narrate a walk through the SoHo neigborhood in Manhattan.
From Wikipedia:
SoHo, sometimes written Soho, is a neighborhood in Lower Manhattan, New York City, which in recent history came to the public's attention for being the location of many artists' lofts and art galleries, but is now better known for its variety of shops ranging from trendy upscale boutiques to national and international chain store outlets. The area's history is an archetypal example of inner-city regeneration and gentrification, encompassing socioeconomic, cultural, political, and architectural developments.
The name SoHo refers to the area being South of Houston Street, a name coined in 1962 by Chester Rapkin, an urban planner and author of The South Houston Industrial Area study, also known as the Rapkin Report. The name also recalls Soho, an area in London's West End.
Almost all of SoHo is included in the SoHo–Cast Iron Historic District, which was designated by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission in 1973, extended in 2010, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and declared a National Historic Landmark in 1978. It consists of 26 blocks and approximately 500 buildings, many of them incorporating cast-iron architectural elements. Many side streets in the district are paved with Belgian blocks.
SoHo is part of Manhattan Community District 2 and its primary ZIP Codes are 10012 and 10013. It is patrolled by the 1st Precinct of the New York City Police Department.

New York, NY 10019
There's a lot to like about the Wellington, not the least of which is its location. This laid-back Midtown property dates back to 1901, near the posh, high-end shops two blocks to the intersection of Fifth Avenue and 57th Street. Carnegie Hall nearby, as is Central Park.
Rooms can best be described as snug and down-to-earth, and include Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs. Suites add living rooms, minifridges and microwaves. Room service is available.
There's a casual cafe on-site, offering classic American comfort food, and there's also a Greek restaurant. Valet parking is available for a fee.

The history of Europeans in America | DW Documentary
Thirty million Europeans emigrated to the USA in the 19th Century to realize their American dream. But the continent was settled at the expense of its original inhabitants.
The United States is always seen as the land of dreams and unlimited possibilities. Our starting point for this account of the settlement of America’s eastern seaboard by European pioneers is Florida, where the Spaniards first settled in the early 16th Century.. Their legacy today is 50 million Americans who speak Spanish as their first language -more than in Spain itself. But it was the largely Protestant British who made up the second wave of immigrants. They founded Jamestown in Virginia and settlements in Massachusetts and pushed northwards into Canada. While the southern states largely lived from the proceeds of slavery, the northern states developed into booming industrial centers that would ultimately defeat them in the civil war. It was here that the American dream of dishwasher to millionaire originated.
