More than 2,000 people worldwide have been confirmed infected with Wuhan coronavirus. The majority of cases remain in the city of Wuhan in central China's Hubei province, where the virus originated. The spread of the previously unknown coronavirus has seen nearly a dozen cities in Hubei impose travel restrictions, and popular tourist spots in mainland China have been closed over the Lunar New Year holidays in an effort to contain it. Hong Kong authorities have also taken extra measures, including closing two theme parks and extending school holidays.

Coronavirus: China warns against travel to virus-hit Wuhan - BBC News
Chinese authorities have urged people to stop travelling in and out of Wuhan, the city at the centre of a new virus outbreak that has killed nine.
Those living in the city of 8.9 million people have also been told to avoid crowds and minimise public gatherings.
The new virus has spread from Wuhan to several Chinese provinces, as well as the US, Thailand and South Korea.
There are 440 confirmed cases, with the origin a seafood market that conducted illegal transactions of wild animals.
Basically, do not go to Wuhan. And those in Wuhan please do not leave the city, said National Health Commission vice-minister Li Bin in one of the first public briefings since the beginning of the outbreak.

Six teams, 1,230 medical personnel head to Hubei Province

Nigerian nationals, police in rare stand-off in China
The scenes you see here are unprecedented.
An estimated 200 Africans most of them Nigerian gathered in front of a Guangzhou police station on Wednesday.
They blocked traffic. They shouted in the streets. It is believed to be the first protest by foreign nationals in China, in a country where demonstrations are rare.
What triggered the protest is the bloody injuries two Nigerian men suffered while attempting to evade police visa checks.
The two men were at the Tangqi Foreign Trade Clothes Plaza when plain clothes officers showed up to check visas on Wednesday.
The men attempted to flee, and the man you see here was seriously injured attempting to jump from the second floor of this building.
As of last night, he remained hospitalized and his situation was serious.
Inexplicably, the protestors decided to take him to Guangquanjie police station instead of hospital. It was only later that an ambulance was called.
The man's brother told a South China Morning Post reporter on Thursday: I do believe he would have been better if he had been sent to the hospital earlier.
The issue of visas is source of frustration for Africans living in Guangzhou, many of whom are involved in the textile trade.
As the government prepares for the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, visa extensions have been difficult to come by.
An estimated 20,000 Africans are living in Guangzhou, and a lack of proper documentation means more confrontations with police could be in the offing.

Shrinking interdependence between China, U.S. a normal trend
As long as the U.S. remains a capitalist economy and as long as China remains open, the two economies will not be fully delinked. A marginal decrease in interdependence should not be regarded as negative. It's normal.
