Czech Republic’s Growing Bilateral Ties with China
There is a long list of bilateral projects between China and the Czech Republic, says Klara Jurcova, Deputy Ambassador in Beijing. These range from machinery and engineering, to agriculture, health care, certification and culture, showing that the Czech Republic is very active in the Belt and Road Initiative. She says 2018 will see the Czech Republic move faster in developing trade in the Pearl River Delta, including Hong Kong.

STORYLINE:
Police separated hundreds of demonstrators opposing Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to the Czech Republic from pro-China supporters at the same rally in Prague on Tuesday.
On Monday, police arrested two people for taking down banners featuring the Chinese flag along Xi's route through Prague and replacing them with Tibetan flags to mark the anniversary of the 1959 uprising against Chinese rule.
President Xi visited Prague to sign an agreement on strategic and business partnerships during his visit to the Czech Republic, a sign of improving relations with a country that once was a critic of China's human rights record.
Xi's visit, his only stopover in Europe before flying to the US, is a result of a more business-oriented Czech approach to China than the one that prevailed under the late President Vaclav Havel, a prominent proponent of human rights.
Czech President Milos Zeman said business deals to be signed during Xi's visit could bring almost 4 billion US dollars of Chinese investment this year.

Scam Town, The Chinese Village Where Nearly Everyone's A Phone Scammer
BMWs, Porsches and mansions dot Chang Keng village in Anxi, where just a few years ago, farmers in one of China's poorest regions relied on tea leaves to eke a living. But when tea prices crashed in 2011, they turned to a new business - phone scams. And it has become a fount of illicit wealth.

For instance, scammers impersonating Chinese officials cheated Singaporeans out of S$13 million in 2018 alone. “Some people say that the Taiwanese taught the Anxi people how to scam,” said Beijing-based crime journalist Suki Sun.
When authorities in Taiwan and mainland China intensified the crackdown on phone scamming syndicates, such operations have relocated elsewhere in the region - such as remote places in the Philippines.
In October 2018, after 2 years of investigations, a group of Chinese scammers were caught in Ilocos Norte, 400km from Manila. Police footage of the raid shows tiny cubicles packed in a concrete-encased building, where the scammers stayed hidden for months on end to avoid detection.

China: Farmers’ kids plough field of acrobatic excellence
Local farmer’s children showed off their extraordinary acrobatics skills in Wuqiao on Saturday.
The children left bystanders in awe by performing complex acrobatics, including standing upside down, swinging ropes and climbing up high. Children also practiced a 'Dancing with Meteors' performance, a traditional element of Chinese acrobatics.
Spokesperson of the local acrobatics group Yu Yongyu said: Acrobats can be cast in a number of roles. There are both old and young extras. Children start practicing at the age of three or four, so by the time they are seven or eight years old, they already know how to perform, and their lives will be easy in the future.
Wuqiao is famed as the cradle of Chinese acrobatics while its residents often perform in acrobatic troupes across China. Local children start their acrobatics training as early as the age of three. Older children often practice acrobatics in their spare time after school.

China Travel Documentary: Travel In Shanghai and Rural China, Beautiful Chinese Travel Diary
China Travel Documentary: Travel In Shanghai and Rural China, Beautiful Chinese Travel Diary.
Watch as this travel diary takes you on a journey through beautiful Chinese cities like Shanghai, and then into more rural scenery. It truly is a beautiful country and that is captured in this inspiring china travel documentary.
Youtube Channel:
Shanghai is the largest Chinese city by population and the largest city by population in the world. It is one of the four direct-controlled municipalities, with a total population of near 24 million as of 2013. It is a global financial center, and a transport hub with theworld's busiest container port. Located in the Yangtze River Delta in East China, Shanghai sits at the mouth of the Yangtze River in the middle portion of the Chinese coast. The municipality borders the provinces of Jiangsu and Zhejiang to the north, south and west, and is bounded to the east by the East China Sea.
For centuries a major administrative, shipping, and trading town, Shanghai grew in importance in the 19th century due to European recognition of its favorable port location and economic potential. The city was one of five opened to foreign trade following the British victory over China in theFirst Opium War while the subsequent 1842 Treaty of Nanking and 1844 Treaty of Whampoa allowed the establishment of the Shanghai International Settlement and the French Concession. The city then flourished as a center of commerce between east and west, and became the undisputed financial hub of the Asia Pacific in the 1930s. However, with the Communist Party takeover of the mainland in 1949, trade was reoriented to focus on socialist countries, and the city's global influence declined. In the 1990s, the economic reforms introduced by Deng Xiaoping resulted in an intense re-development of the city, aiding the return of finance and foreign investment to the city.[]
Shanghai is a popular tourist destination renowned for its historical landmarks such as The Bund, City God Temple and Yu Garden, as well as the extensive Lujiazui skyline and major museums including the Shanghai Museum and the China Art Museum. It has been described as the showpiece of the booming economy of mainland China.
