Montclair 2014 Big Game Winter Festival
On a balmy 40 degree February day, the residents of Montclair, New Jersey gathered together for the 2014 Montclair Big Game Winter Festival. The day was filled with food, fun, and family oriented entertainment. Family, friends, and supporters were on hand to acknowledge and celebrate the back-to-back New Jersey State Football Champions of Montclair High School. As well as recognizing the success of the youth level champions in both football and cheerleading. Performances by the high school acapella group Passing Notes and The Opera Theater of Montclair warmed up the crowd. The bands Big Mamou and Justina Valentine & the LoveHaterz turned up the heat and got the crowds to sing and dance along with them. A very successful event for the city of Montclair and all that were a part of it.

Late spring is brought to a new level of cool with the sounds of Bob Miller and Joe Verrusio. This rendition of the jazz standard was enjoyed by visitors at The Presby Memorial Iris Gardens in Upper Montclair, NJ. The Garden overflowed with visitors as they enjoyed one of the last weekends of the blooming season. The sweet sound of jazz intermingled with the vibrant beauty of the irises at their peak.
Bob Miller, alto saxophone
Alto Saxophonist Bob Miller was born and raised in Westfield, New Jersey.
Bob spent two years in the US Army. While serving in Germany he performed in the Special Service Band alongside vocalist, Tony Bennett.
He holds a degree in chemistry from Penn State University and studied alto sax with Lee Konitz and Sidney Bechet.
A member of New York musician's union Local 802, Miller toured for a number of years with Claude Thornhill, Charlie Barnet, Buddy Morrow, Dan Terry and several other bands. Miller played and did the arrangements for a record date with Barry Miles and Duke Jordan on the Charlie Parker Record label... Miles of Genius. He has worked with jazz greats; Chet Baker, Al Cohn, Zoot Sims, Phil Woods, Ron Carter and Eddie Gomez.
Currently Bob is performing with duos and other small groups on the east coast and is heard regularly in two big bands; the Silver Starlite and David Aaron Orchestra. His favorite jazz players are Phil Woods, Eric Kloss and Charlie Parker.
Joe Verrusio, jazz guitar
Joe grew up in Summit, NJ. He attended the prestigious, Berklee School of Music in Boston, MA, and studied the guitar under the tutelage of Harry Leahey and Chuck Wayne.
Joe has performed in a number of jazz clubs and venues in and around the New York Area. He is a voting member of N.A.R.A.S. (National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences). His resume includes recordings, studio work and composing.
He is president of Entertainment Consultants; a musical booking agency dedicated to high quality music in a variety of genres. He represents artists, bands, musicians, dancers. Videos of Joe and his artists can be viewed on the Entertainment Consultants YouTube channel at: ecmusicnj
