Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City 20 Years On Celebration
T/I: 10:01:00 10:16:09
About ten thousand Vietnamese soldiers and civilians took part in
a parade in Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday (30/4) to celebrate the
20th anniversary of the fall of Saigon and the end of the Vietnam
war. Bobby Muller of the Vietnam Veterans Of America Federation said, you come back today and you get to appreciate this country and your heart melts. Vietnamese citizens who lived through the war also seem prepared to put the war behind them. One elderly woman said Americans used to be the enemy. The parade began near the former U.S. embassy and ended by the presidential palace. On Saturday another military parade took place in Cu Chi, 70 kilometres from the capital city and the site of a vast network of underground tunnels used by the communist forces during the war.

Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum - Hanoi Vietnam 3
I vlog to inspire others, to experience the journey and to live life. Not only that i challenge myself daily to adapt to all situations while on the road, adapting to city to city hopping, accom to accom living, street food tasting in each city, bartering with locals, dealing with scamsters and corrupt authorities, whatever!, the goal is to adapt without fear.
I've also learn't that material things do not satisfy my consciousness as much as experiences do. If there's one important
thing I've learnt on the road traveling it's to experience as much as you can without fear, for those experiences will last a lifetime with you, and if you've helped inspire someone along the way it will last into their lifetime to even if it's from a youtube vlog!.
More vlogging from the streets of Hanoi in Vietnam.

The 2nd chapter of my film, a series of vignettes from my experience abroad in Viet Nam. Ho Chi Minh, known as Uncle Ho is a gargantuan figure in modern Viet Nam. However, should his praise among worldly representations really represent all he has done for his country?

►FREE eBook:
When I was in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), along with eating as much Vietnamese food as I could, one of my goals was to film a travel video about some of the best things to do in Saigon. After putting together a complete list, it turned out to be 23, and I hope this list of attractions will help and inspire you to visit Vietnam’s largest and most exciting city.
1. Binh Tay Market - Binh Tay Market is one of the largest wholesale distribution markets, and a perfect place to go if you’re looking to go shopping in Ho Chi Minh City.
2. Thien Hau Temple (Pagoda) - Located in Chinatown, in District 5, the temple is dedicated to Thien Hau and I really loved the sculptures and the elaborate design of the temple.
3. Museum of Ho Chi Minh City - This museum offers a glimpse into the history and development of the city and Vietnam.
4. Bitexco Financial Tower - This is the tallest building in Saigon, and you can either go to the Skydeck or a cafe at the top for a view of the city.
5. Independence Palace (Reunification Palace) - Probably one of the most well known tourism things to do in Saigon is to visit the Independence Palace, the the former home of the president of South Vietnam during the Vietnam War.
6. Saigon Cathedral of Notre Dame - With the French influence in Vietnam, the Notre Dame cathedral is a beautiful Catholic church. Attend a service or just visit.
7. Central Post Office - Designed by Gustave Eiffel, the Central Post Office in Ho Chi Minh City is an attraction mainly for its design and architecture. It’s a beautiful building.
8. War Remnants Museum - Although this is not one of the happiest attractions in Saigon, it’s a place to remember and honor the horrible events that are a result of a war.
9. Opera House - Right in Dong Khoi area, and there are still opera shows available.
10. Dong Khoi Street - This is the height of high end shopping in Saigon.
11. Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens - The zoo itself is not too great, but the beauty of the Saigon zoo is the botanical gardens, and the lush gardens, and taking a break from the city.
12. FITO Museum (Museum of Traditional Vietnamese Medicine) - I was quite impressed by the Vietnamese medicine private museum - very interactive and educational.
13. San Art Laboratory – If you love modern art, the San Art Laboratory is a great place to see and visit in Saigon.
14. Turtle Lake at Night - If you’re looking for some things to do at night in Saigon, head to Turtle Lake to chill out, relax, hang out with friends, and eat snacks.
15. Ben Thanh Market - One of the most famous things to do in Saigon District 1 is visit the Ben Thanh Market, one of the major central landmarks of the city.
16. Phu My Hung and Starlight Bridge - Located outside of central Ho Chi Minh City, Phu My Hung is a modern development, and a great place to walk around.
17. Water Puppet Show - Though originally from the north of Vietnam, water puppet shows are popular also in Saigon. I went to the Golden Dragon Water Puppet theater.
18. Museum of Vietnamese History - Probably one of the most extensive and important museum showing the history of Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City.
19. Rooftop Bar - Seeing Saigon from above offers a great perspective.
20. Fine Arts Museum - This was my favorite of all the museums in Saigon. The museum is housed in a well preserved building, and the art is amazing - located right in District 1 across the roundabout from Ben Thanh Market.
21. Jade Emperor Pagoda - Dedicated to the Jade Emperor, the pagoda has a real ancient feel to it, and it’s worth seeing when you visit.
22. Local Wet Market - One of my favorite things to do is visit a local fresh wet market, which you’ll find all over the city. The ingredients, food, and culture, all stand out at fresh markets.
23. Vietnamese Street Food - By my ultimate favorite activity in Saigon is eating street food, and there are an abundance of delicious Vietnamese street foods to sample.
Thank you for watching this video about the top 23 things to do in Saigon, Vietnam. I hope it has given you some great ideas to help you plan your visit.

Vietnam - Vietnamese Parade Reconciliation On Thei
T/I 10:20:27
STORY: ANNIVERSARY
LOCATION: HO CHI MINH CITY/CU CHI, VIETNAM
DATE: 30 APRIL 1995
DURATION: 1.38
Vietnamese parade reconciliation on their big day
Vietnamese paraded and posed for pictures with their former foes on Sunday (30/4) as they celebrated the 20th anniversary of the end of a war that reunited their country but cost more than three million lives. Some 10,000 soldiers, students, workers and children marched along one of Ho Chi Minh City's main thoroughfares past a reviewing stand packed with top government and Communist Party leaders. Communist tanks clanked along the same road on 30 April 1975, to smash through the gates of the South Vietnamese presidential palace and seize power from the last remaining officials of the US-backed government. The 1995 celebrations also featured fireworks, theatrical performances, and majorettes. Even American icon Mickey Mouse made an appearance, emphasising the Vietnamese government's wishes that the celebrations should be conducted in a spirit of reconciliation with their former enemies. Mayor Truong Tan Sang opened the ceremonies by praising the patriotism that led so many to their death. Mayor Sang's speech emphasized the achievements of peace, especially the new burst of economic development in Ho Chi Minh City, called Saigon before 1975. Vietnam's economy stagnated for the first decade after reunification, but free-market reforms since the late 1980s have brought marked new prosperity.

President Hotel, BEQ 1964 - 1973 Saigon - 727 Tran Hung Dao - Vietnam
Trailer - The PRESIDENT BUILDING or PRESIDENT HOTEL was an apartment building in the former Saigon, Vietnam today Ho Chi Minh City located 727 Tran Hung Dao Street, district 5. Demolished in 2017.
The former owner millionaire Nguyen Tan Doi built this apartment block in the late 1950th and 1960 it was one of the most modern buildings around, with a roof top swimming pool, a fountain and a dancing hall. The building had 530 apartments, 4 elevators. Further 1 lift to reach the roof top area directly and a rubbish chute on all floors. It was surrounded by shops and small cafes. In 1964 it transformed to a BEQ (Bachelor Enlisted Quarters). The American army rented the total building to house their soldiers. The soldiers spent their first days in these blocks or before they we transported back to the USA. The 2 metal staircases in the building were installed 1964 by the American army in the case of fire escape.
In 1975 the war was won by the NVA, North Vietnamese Army and local families moved in.
I discovered the President Hotel in 1997 when I traveled from Germany to Ho Chi Minh City. It was a lively building with friendly residents, vendors, small shops and cafes and an interesting place to shoot video or photograph.
