What to See at the Prado Museum (Museo Nacional del Prado) | Frolic and Courage
What is the Prado museum famous for? Plenty! Here are the highlights and things you need to know before your visit.
The Museo Nacional del Prado boats the best collection of Spanish art and some of the nicest collections of European art with over 8,200 drawings, 7,600 paintings, 4,800 prints, and 1,000 sculptures. In this video, I’ll share the Prado museum highlights along with helpful tips regarding the hours, admission - including how to get free admission to the Prado - and more.
I was lucky enough to visit the museum during my last birthday adventure to Madrid, Spain to soak up famous paintings like Las Meninas, The Garden of Earthly Delights, and other wondrous pieces of art from all around Europe.
Enjoy!

Royal Palace of Madrid (El Palacio de Oriente)
The Palacio Real. The Spanish Royal Palace in Madrid serves a function: The Royal Family does not live in the palace although it is its official residence but the building is used for official public affairs. Part of it is open to the public. This Baroque giant on the west side of the city has 3,418 rooms, making it the largest palace in Europe.
Once a Moorish fortress, the Royal Alcázar of Madrid was a castle where the kings of Castile and other members of the royal family once lived. It all went up in flames in 1734 – it was Christmas time and the alarm bells that sounded were confused with the Mass bells. The Palacio Real built on the same location surpassed its predecessor in its splendour. In 1764, King Carlos III moved in. Nowadays, the royal treasures are one of the main reasons to visit the palace, although the gardens are also very popular.

25 Things to do in Madrid, Spain | Top Attractions Travel Guide Travel Video Transcript:
Hola y bienvenidos a Madrid. This week we are in the Spanish capital and we are going to show you twenty five of the best things to do in the city.
Final thoughts on your time in Madrid. Well, I really enjoyed the city. And I really found that it is super walk-able. We were here for 10 days and we hardly had to take the metro at all. We just took the bus once when we were visiting the stadium but the rest of the time we were able to walk wherever we needed to go. And also I think it is a great city for art lovers. There are so many galleries and museums to check out. And a lot of them are free in the evening. So keep that in mind.
And now it is your turn. What did you think of Madrid? You know what? I absolutely loved Madrid. It is a city that just really clicked with me. We have a lot of friends that are living here long term and prior to coming here I had no idea like why would someone want to come to Madrid? Now I totally get it. I love the culture, I love the food, I love the nightlife. Everything is really cheap. I go to the grocery store and I can get a one liter thing of wine for just over a Euro. It is just a really affordable fun city to be in. And it is somewhere I hope I have a chance to come back to again soon.
And that is a wrap of our time in Madrid! We had a splendid time and were truly sad to say goodbye to the city, but that just means we'll have to come back again. If you have any travel tips for Madrid, feel free to share those in the comments below.

Barcelona, Spain: Picasso Museum
Picasso spent his formative years (from the ages of 14 to 23) in Barcelona, and this museum, housed in a palace in the Old City is the best collection of his early works anywhere. By experiencing his youthful, realistic art, you can better understand his later more abstract periods and more fully appreciate his genius. Always restless, ever prolific, Picasso delved into many styles including Cubism and became the greatest artist of the 20th century. Barcelona is where it all began. MADRID 2, SPAIN
Madrid is a cosmopolitan city with elegant boulevards and impressive architecture. You can appreciate the works of art everywhere in the city. From la Plaza Mayor, to la Calle Mayor, Alcala's Street with its beautiful Metropolis Building to the amazing water fountains of Cibeles and Neptune.
Impressive museum of Prado which has Europe's top collection of paintings. And the pleasant Retiro Park once the private domain of royalty, this majestic park has been a favorite of Madrid commoners since the late 18th century.
Plaza Mayor is a vast, cobbled, traffic free chunk of the 17th century Spain.
In Medieval times this was the city's main square. The equestrian statue honors Phillip III who transformed the square into a Baroque Plaza..
In its stage, much Spanish history has been played out: bullfights, fires, royal pageantry and events of the Inquisition. During the Inquisition, many were tried here. The heretics were burned and criminals were strangled in the square.
Among the few preserved medieval buildings, the Gothic church of St Jerome, part of a monastery built by the Catholic Monarchs in the 15th century
