Operation Santa: San Rafael el Arado, Guatemala

MISSION: This coming Christmas is sure to be one that the lovable children of the small village of San Rafael el Arado in Guatemala, Central America will remember and cherish for a lifetime. My hope is to raise $5,000 by Thanksgiving to buy 500 gifts for 500 children.

WHY: This past summer my life, and my world changed forever. I had the privilege of volunteering through Common Hope at the only school in San Rafael el Arado. I went there with the intention of teaching them, but little did I know how much they would teach me. Each and every one of these children constantly had a big smile on their face. They were all so full of life, love and happiness.

WHEN: We are putting together a Christmas Party that will take place on Friday, December 21st at the school in San Rafael el Arado. I will be hand delivering all the gifts to the children with my family, friends and volunteers from Common Hope. Luckily, these acts of your kindness will not only be a cherished memory in the life of the children, but I will also be capturing the true essence of the festivities through photos and video to show you exactly how special you made a child feel.

DONATIONS: I am reaching out to you for help. Donations of $10 are enough to buy 1 gift for 1 child and make a Christmas Party full of food and festivities possible. Feel free to donate $1, $10 or $100-every cent counts, and is appreciated beyond words. The money you donate is going directly to Common Hope in Guatemala where they will be purchasing the gifts. EXCEEDING MY GOAL: I am shooting for the stars! With high hopes, a can-do attitude, and a little bit of elbow grease we can make this happen. I may have only set a goal of $5,000 but please know that I will be doing everything in my power to put together fundraising events and collect donations at various places with my giant 2-foot crayon piggy bank. Anything over $5,000 is going directly to the San Rafael Education fund through Common Hope to supply deeply needed school supplies and feed the children.

I am the lucky product of two amazingly loving, supportive and world traveling parents: a beautiful Catholic Guatemalan, and a handsome Bostonian Jew who grew up in the Philippines. Growing up it was important to my parents that I was to be grateful for all blessings in life, but more importantly to share those blessings with others. I've been travelling to Guatemala every other Christmas since my childhood to visit my family but this past summer was the first time I volunteered there and a paradigm shift took place.

Il Privilege originariamente noto come Ku Club (1979-95) è il nightclub più grande del mondo secondo il Guinness dei primati , definito anche un Superclub con una capacità di 10.000 persone. Si trova vicino al villaggio di San Rafael, Ibiza , in Spagna , a meno di un chilometro (0,6 miglia) dalla discoteca Amnesia . La storia di Privilege inizia agli inizi degli anni '70, quando inizia come ristorante, per poi espandersi fino a includere un bar e una piscina comunitaria. Fu allora noto come Club San Rafael. Cathedral of San Salvador, Jerez de la Frontera, Andalusia, Spain

The cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Jerez de la Frontera lies in the city of Jerez de la Frontera (Andalusia, Spain), is a XVII century building that combines Gothic, Baroque and Neoclassical styles. The present church stands on part of the remains of the original mosque Mayor de Jerez and the ancient Church of the Savior, the XII century and collapsed under its dilapidated state, leaving little documentation on it. Jerez Cathedral is the former Collegiate Church, elevated to the dignity cathedral the Bull archiepiscopus Hispalenses of March 3, 1980 by John Paul II. Its titular Our Lord San Salvador, and his feast on August 6, Transfiguration of the Lord. The temple was consecrated by Cardinal Jose Maria Bueno Monreal on December 10, 1978, II centenary of the opening of the temple. As such Jerez Cathedral asidonense new bishopric was the place where the bull of the Diocese constitution was promulgated on 29 June 1980 with the entry of the first Bishop Bishop Rafael Bellido Caro. It was also the temple where they received episcopal ordination Bishop Juan del Río Martín, the September 23, 2000, Monsignor José Mazuelos Perez, June 6, 2009, in addition to the site of numerous priestly ordinations and diaconal and other celebrations important in the diocese. The institution of the Cabildo College dates back to the Christian conquest of Jerez on October 9, 1264, which was already constituted comprising the September 23, 1265 when Alfonso X el Sabio extends its endowment for the privilege. A cardinal and several bishops were formerly members of the council, and several others for its culture and charities listed in local history. The Cabildo College undertook the May 9, 1695 courageously the work of a new temple, whose trace all indications was commissioned to master builder of Jerez, Diego Moreno Meléndez (+ 1700). The work lasted over more than eighty years, carrying forward thanks to the dedication and sacrifices of the canons, and being paid for with assets of Cardinal Arias and then with substantial real and papal support, until the entire temple blessed the December 6, 1778, having put half the cult temple on 16 June 1756. Directors of the works were the masters Ignacio Díaz de los Reyes (+ 1748), Juan de Pina (+1778) and Miguel de Olivares, who acted under the orders of Torcuato Cayón de la Vega. The former church, demolished in 1695, only the tower remains. In it, other bell, is a unique rattle in the country for its style. A large and beautiful church, not desdijera those already had in the city such as San Miguel and Santiago, and was worthy of a cathedral day wanted. In 1580 and 1781 they rose to the Crown requests from Jerez for the establishment in the city of a new bishopric. But it was not until 1980 that the old desire could be achieved. The temple is a Gothic building structure with open plan, five naves of unequal height that are supported by the exterior buttresses and flying buttresses and a transept, whose encounter with an airy nave dome. The arches are semicircular, not pointed, and groin vaults are built those of the nave and transept in very ornate carved stone, while the aisles are threaded and unadorned brick. Strictly no more than the Sagrario chapel, neoclassical. The main facade has a triple gate, and is adorned with imagery and baroque motifs, as also the two side doors, called the Visitation and the Incarnation and stained glass. After Vatican II an inward work of adaptation, which has subsequently been amended to give greater scope to the celebrative space and facilitate the participation of the faithful is made. In the cathedral temple also headquartered Parish of Salvador, the first of the parishes in the city, as recorded in the book of Repartimiento Houses of October 3 1265.

VÁRVARA proposes a feminist approach to the Christian archetype of Mary Magdalene. Using as a starting point such apparently diverse subjects as Valencian ‘bacalao’ culture and the mystic concept of ecstasy, Bárbara Sánchez embodies the figure of the Great Lover. As in any mystic experience, the object here is union, the definitive dissolution of distance. There is no room left for irony or sarcasm, and definitely not for self-reference. Mary Magdalene is the exemplary madwoman, ready to empty herself to embody the Beloved, capable of destroying all patriarchal institutions to assert her Infinite Love. She speaks directly with her Owner, freely chosen. There are no distances nor intermediaries. Faced with the model imposed by capitalism of a privileged white woman who can afford to direct her efforts at self-observation, She carries out a radical eviction, a conscious and wished-for descent to the wreckage of the world, to the place from which her Christ reigns.

Esta es mi manera de despedirme de su persona; narrando, a través de la 'Carta de Bilbo a Gandalf' de J.R.R. Tolkien, el viaje de alguien que vaga sin rumbo por tierras jordanas e islandesas tratando de encontrar una respuesta.

Privilege Ibiza is preparing its best season in years. The biggest club in the world is watching all details to enjoy the Ibiza night at the highest level. The new philosophy is marked by the claim for this 2011: Live The Moment, Love The Music, with which it is intended that the experience will have on Privilege goes beyond the music. For this we have worked hard throughout the winter in a spectacular website ( that will inform everything that is happening around Privilege, besides being completely interactive for the user. For the convenience of the elite clubber, Privilege has been renovated its VIP area and has reopened after many years, its restaurant, Le Privilege, which will give culinary point of view to visiting the club. As regards the room, Privilege has strengthened and improved the already spectacular soundsystem, reformed the DJ booth with moving heads and LED screens, and has completely replaced the lighting system to capture one of the most spectacular light system on the planet.

In regard to parties, the starting signal is given by the opening of the club, on Saturday June 4th, with Tocadisco, Layo & Bushwacka, Butch and Rebeka Brown among others. Two days after Tiësto, who is one of the best DJs in the world, will have his weekly residency until mid-September with worldwide guests. Wednesdays are reserved for Boombox, a production of British promoter Gatecrasher that will surpirse to everyone with its spectacular line ups and its spectacular audiovisual production. For Sundays, the most innovative proposal of the season: Privilege Live!, A concept which combines live acts by world-renowned artists and bands (and when we say world artists is that they are very large) with the best DJs in the dance scene.

One of the strongest proposals will, as every year, Supermartxé. From Friday June 17th until late September, the team of the most popular party of the island will give you hours of fun, spectacular performances and great music with DJs such as Juanjo Martin and company. On Saturday18th will be the turn of Saturday Night Project, which will bring to the club's road to San Rafael an innovative underground sounds. Tuesday will be back to DJ Sammy and friends in his fun party My Clubroom and every Thursday will have a totally Balearic aroma with DJ Oliver, Baby Marcelo and all theregular guests of The Face Of Ibiza.

Cathedral of St. Saviour, Jerez de la Frontera, Andalusia, Spain

The cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Jerez de la Frontera lies in the city of Jerez de la Frontera (Andalusia, Spain), is a XVII century building that combines Gothic, Baroque and Neoclassical styles. The present church stands on part of the remains of the original mosque Mayor de Jerez and the ancient Church of the Savior, the XII century and collapsed under its dilapidated state, leaving little documentation on it. Jerez Cathedral is the former Collegiate Church, elevated to the dignity cathedral the Bull archiepiscopus Hispalenses of March 3, 1980 by John Paul II. Its titular Our Lord San Salvador, and his feast on August 6, Transfiguration of the Lord. The temple was consecrated by Cardinal Jose Maria Bueno Monreal on December 10, 1978, II centenary of the opening of the temple. As such Jerez Cathedral asidonense new bishopric was the place where the bull of the Diocese constitution was promulgated on 29 June 1980 with the entry of the first Bishop Bishop Rafael Bellido Caro. It was also the temple where they received episcopal ordination Bishop Juan del Río Martín, the September 23, 2000, Monsignor José Mazuelos Perez, June 6, 2009, in addition to the site of numerous priestly ordinations and diaconal and other celebrations important in the diocese. The institution of the Cabildo College dates back to the Christian conquest of Jerez on October 9, 1264, which was already constituted comprising the September 23, 1265 when Alfonso X el Sabio extends its endowment for the privilege. It consisted of an abbot and up to ten canons in the course of its history. A cardinal and several bishops were formerly members of the council, and several others for its culture and charities listed in local history. Was dissolved by the bull of Pope John Paul II (26 May 1984) to make way for the new Cathedral Chapter, which consists of twelve canons themselves practicing the different offices of the Cabildo. The Cabildo College undertook the May 9, 1695 courageously the work of a new temple, whose trace all indications was commissioned to master builder of Jerez, Diego Moreno Meléndez (+ 1700). The work lasted over more than eighty years, carrying forward thanks to the dedication and sacrifices of the canons, and being paid for with assets of Cardinal Arias and then with substantial real and papal support, until the entire temple blessed the December 6, 1778, having put half the cult temple on 16 June 1756. Directors of the works were the masters Ignacio Díaz de los Reyes (+ 1748), Juan de Pina (+1778) and Miguel de Olivares, who acted under the orders of Torcuato Cayón de la Vega. The former church, demolished in 1695, only the tower remains. In it, other bell, is a unique rattle in the country for its style. A large and beautiful church, not desdijera those already had in the city such as San Miguel and Santiago, and was worthy of a cathedral day wanted. In 1580 and 1781 they rose to the Crown requests from Jerez for the establishment in the city of a new bishopric. But it was not until 1980 that the old desire could be achieved. The temple is a Gothic building structure with open plan, five naves of unequal height that are supported by the exterior buttresses and flying buttresses and a transept, whose encounter with an airy nave dome. The arches are semicircular, not pointed, and groin vaults are built those of the nave and transept in very ornate carved stone, while the aisles are threaded and unadorned brick. It also has a romantic organ of 1850, according to draft John Bishop and since 2012 with another of William d'Enoyer (this being the only instrument in Jerez mechanical traction) .5 Similarly, there are sculptures of the apostles of José de Arce . In the cathedral temple also headquartered Parish of Salvador, the first of the parishes in the city, as recorded in the book of Repartimiento Houses of October 3 1265.
