Haunting History of : The Fairbanks Inn,(Eben House)Provincetown, Massachusetts.
On November 9, 1620, the Pilgrims aboard the Mayflower sighted Cape Cod while en route to the Colony of Virginia. After two days of failed attempts to sail south against the strong winter seas, they returned to the safety of the harbor, known today as Provincetown Harbor, and set anchor. It was here that the Mayflower Compact was drawn up and signed. They agreed to settle and build a self-governing community, and came ashore in the West End.
This beautifully preserved historic inn is one of the oldest buildings in Provincetown. The Fairbanks is right in the heart of the town. Old wooden beamed ceilings, beautiful wood flooring, four poster bed and very tastefully decorated throughout.... beautiful wooden floors in the Captain's House are original and were made from a ship's wood!
Dating back to 1775, the property was built by sea captain Eben Snow and later belonged to the town's wealthiest resident, David Fairbanks,he bought it in 1826. He, too, had a connection to the town’s seafaring history: he established the Seamen’s Saving Bank. In 1985 the house became an inn. Interestingly, it’s not a sea captain or banker whose ghost is reported to still roam here, a Revolutionary War soldier is thought to haunt one of the inn's 15 rooms.

We had the weekend off together and with a 45 degree day at the end of January in Massachusetts we just had to take advantage!!! Join us on our ridiculous adventure through Provincetown and our 2 hour trek through the beach to get to a distant Lighthouse. Hope you all enjoy!!!

1. Plymouth was the site of the first colony in New England, founded in 1620 by the Pilgrims, passengers of the Mayflower. In 1692, the town of Salem and surrounding areas experienced one of America's most infamous cases of mass hysteria, the Salem witch trials. In the late 18th century, Boston became known as the Cradle of Liberty for the agitation there that led to the American Revolution.
2. Boston is the capital city and most populous municipality of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Boston is one of the oldest cities in the United States, founded on the Shawmut Peninsula in 1630 by Puritan settlers from England. It was the scene of several key events of the American Revolution, such as the Boston Massacre, the Boston Tea Party, the Battle of Bunker Hill, and the Siege of Boston. Some of the most renowned and highly ranked universities in the world are located near Boston. Three universities with a major presence in the city, Harvard, MIT, and Tufts, are located just outside of Boston in the cities of Cambridge and Somerville, known as the Brainpower Triangle. Greater Boston has more than 100 colleges and universities, with 250,000 students enrolled in Boston and Cambridge alone.
3. The area of the capital city of Boston, first founded in 1630, was originally called “Shawmut” by local Native Americans. It was eventually changed to Boston after the identically-named town in Lincolnshire, England, where many of the colonialists who came to the New World originated.
4. The first-ever Dunkin Donuts opened in Quincy, Massachusetts in 1948. Today, there’s a Massachusetts location for every 6500 people in the state. In the state's capital of Boston, residents are never more than 1.45 miles away from a Dunkin’.
5. The first telephone call in history was made between inventor Alexander Graham Bell and his assistant, Thomas Watson, on March 10, 1876, in Boston. Bell spoke the words “Mr. Watson, come here, I want to see you” into the device and Watson heard the message from the receiver in the next room.
6. The late 1800s in Massachusetts were a hotbed of sports history. Basketball was invented by a then-31-year-old Springfield College graduate student named James Naismith in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1891. Also, volleyball—originally called “Mintonette”—was invented by a YMCA instructor named William G. Morgan in Holyoke, Massachusetts, in 1895.
7. Some other creations that are now widely spread throughout the world are: the chocolate chip cookie, frozen foods, the birth control pill, the marshmallow fluff and even that pink flamingo decoration that can be seen on oh so many lawns.

Creepy Places of New England: Pilgrim Monument

The Pilgrims first landed in Provincetown, Massachusetts in 1620, and to honor them there is a tall granite tower simply called Pilgrim Monument. The monument was finished being built in 1910 and is about 252 feet high. Located on High Pole Hill Road, it is one of the most recognizable sites in all of Cape Cod. With my friends, we explore the sight and even go to the top, but this episode is paranormal free.

Fund Me campaign, local musicians Mark Mandeville and Raianne Richards will once again traverse
Massachusetts on foot for their 7th Annual Massachusetts Walking Tour. The tour will run June 12 June 28
starting in Truro and landing in Swansea covering over 100 miles. As part of the National Park Service
Healthy Parks Healthy People initiative and the MA Libraries Get Moving Summer Reading program, the
public is encouraged to join in the daily hikes and to walk or bike to the events with all routes available for
PDF download at masswalkingtour.org.
Stops along Cape Cod include the Highland House Museum in Truro, Salt Pond Visitors Center of Cape
Cod National Seashore in Eastham, Wellfleet Public Library, Nickerson State Park, Cape Conservatory in
West Barnstable, ShawmeCrowell State Forest in Sandwich, Myles Standish State Forest Centennial
Celebration in Carver. As well as stops along the South Coast Bikeway (southcoastbikeway.com)
including the First Congregational Church in Wareham, Island Wharf Bandstand in Marion, Mattapoisett
Congregational Church, Millicent Library Auditorium in Fairhaven, Dartmouth YMCA, New Bedford Art
Museum/Artworks! and UMASS Dartmouth Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Fall River and the
Swansea Public Library with more to come.
The concert tour features the music of Mandeville and Richards as well as Berklee College of Music alumni
Amy Alvey and Mark Kilianski (Boston based duo Hoot and Holler) with arrangements on guitar, banjo,
harmonica, tin whistle, ukulele and fiddle accompanied by a brief talk on the philosophy behind the Walking
Tour. After each day's hike the troupe will perform free community concerts in towns along the Cape Cod
Rail Trail, Myles Standish State Forest and towns along the South Coast Bikeway. Each 2 hour program will
include local musicians and artists from each town while promoting communitybased cultural organizations
and local support for the arts. Posters for the events are hand drawn and designed by visual artist and
musician Dan Blakeslee.
The Massachusetts Walking Tour sets forth on a grass roots level to organize local artists together with
community basedorganizations such as land conservation groups, hikers, nature lovers musicians, artists
and local cultural councils statewide – these concerts are conducted in outright support for
communitybased arts events sponsored on the local level.
