Pù Luông Nature Reserve is a nature reserve in northern Vietnam. This nature reserve is situated in Quan Hóa and Bá Thước districts of Thanh Hóa Province, North Central Coast region of Vietnam. Pu Luong Nature Reserve is bordered by Mai Châu, Tân Lạc and Lạc Sơn districts of Hòa Bình Province. The reserve is located along two parallel mountain ridges, that run from north-west to south-east, and are divided by a central valley, which contains several human settlements and a large agricultural land area, therefore, is not included within the nature reserve. Pù Luông is endowed with great biodiversity, its flora and fauna is closely associated with the Cúc Phương National Park 25 km south-east.
Pu Luong is a natural reservation in northern land of Vietnam. It is 160 km away from Hanoi and takes 4-hour driving to north-west of Hanoi.

Trước đây cứ tưởng phải lặn lội lên Tây Bắc săn mây với ngắm ruộng bậc thang. Đi rồi mới biết thiên đường ngay ở quê nhà chẳng việc gì mất công săn với bắt :-D Đến Pù Luông bạn sẽ bắt gặp khắp những ngôi nhà sàn của đồng bào người Thái còn nguyên sơ với toàn bộ nhà bằng gỗ và lợp mái bằng lá cọ, người dân cực kỳ thân thiện và dễ mến.
Cách thành phố Thanh Hóa tầm 130km chạy xe, đường đi khá đẹp. Pù Luông là khu bảo tồn thiên nhiên, mọi thứ còn được giữ nguyên sơ tuy nhiên dịch vụ du lịch và lưu trú cũng khá phổ biến. Đến đây tận hưởng không khí trong lành, nghe tiếng rừng xanh, thả hồn nhẹ nhõm khỏi bon chen phố thị.
Mùa lúa chín đang tới gần, đầu tháng 6 những thửa ruộng bậc thang xanh mướt mắt này sẽ chuyển sang màu vàng rực siêu đẹp.

Walking the stunning mountains of Pu Luong, Vietnam
A few days spent in Pu Luong Nature Reserve outside Hanoi recently were wonderful. An afternoon walk to Bat Cave ( a cave with loads of bats) was a special delight. Quaint ethnic Thai villages, friendly locals and magnificent scenery. But I now have an abiding worry about how places like this can be developed and not wrecked by tourism. The past decade has seen many places in Vietnam damaged by tourist development. Making sure locals are the real winners is the biggest challenge.
