On February 2, 1887 (or 1886), the first Groundhog Day celebration took place in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, and such celebrations have been taking place over and over again ever since (on each February 2nd)!

The PA Great Outdoors region is a big, beautiful part of Pennsylvania and home to Jefferson County. Punxsutawney Phil is the county's most famous resident and on February 2nd, Gobbler's Knob is the place to be! Punxsutawney offers year-round fun with Phil's Burrow, Groundhog Club Headquarters, and the Weather Discovery Center.
Brookville has a restored Victorian Main Street and a trail head for the Redbank Valley Trail. The Jefferson County History Center has many interesting exhibits including the Twyford car and a model railroad. Nearby, Scripture Rocks Park features over 70 engraved large boulders.
Clear Creek State Park is a rare gem in the deep valley on the banks of the Clarion River. Brockway has a trail head for the Clarion-Little Toby Trail and two launches give paddlers access to the Little Toby Creek. The town also hosts an annual Old Fashioned 4th of July celebration.

Our most famous resident is the world's foremost weather prognosticator, Punxsutawney Phil. While in Punxsutawney visiting Phil, make sure to stop by the Weather Discovery Center with many interactive and educational exhibits that are perfect for school aged children.

Rare Design! Abandoned Coke Ovens Allison Brownsville Pennsylvania Coal Coke Heritage
Also visit stufthatsgone.com Allison is located south of Brownsville off PA Rt 166. It is actually two towns, Allison #1 and Allison #2. The West Penn Railways split this town (see other Allison videos) right by the banks of coke ovens. This squarer, through design can be found nowhere else in southwestern pennsylvania, and the design allowed the coke to be pushed through the oven and down to the loading car. These examples are well preserved, but can be difficult to access. We were lucky the day we went as the gate to the sewage treatment plant was open!!!
