Royal news: Queen Elizabeth II visits city of London to open new building
Queen Elizabeth II officially opened the new Schroders building in the City of London.
Wearing a blue coat with a black fur-trim, the Queen added a matching hat, with a coordinating black flower on the brim, to her outfit.
With gloved hands, the great-grandmother of six carried her favourite black leather handbag.
She embellished her outfit with a triple diamond bar brooch on her shoulder.
During her visit the Queen met with young apprentices, who often join straight from school and former members of the British Army who are part of the military placement scheme.

UK: LONDON: QUEEN ELIZABETH II OPENS OFFICIAL WEB SITE ON INTERNET
English/Nat
The British royal family launched itself into cyberspace on Thursday (6/3/97) when the Queen opened an official web site on the Internet.
From Thursday, a variety of facts - from the royal finances to descriptions of the Queen's palaces - will be available to millions of net surfers around the globe.
Hundreds of pages about Britain's royal family are already available to millions of net users around the world, but Buckingham Palace was keen that the real facts were made available.
The Queen launched the new service during a visit to a London school which is among the many schools to use the Internet within the British education system.
The schoolchildren were among the first to see the 150 royal pages, with colour pictures throughout.
The Queen sees the Internet as an effective way of reaching the people.
SOUNDBITE:
The Royal website will I hope be an interesting and helpful source of information. I also hope that it will encourage you and others to make full use of the world-wide web so that we are all able to learn more about each other and communicate more clearly with each other both here in Britain and elsewhere around the world.
SUPERCAPTION: Queen Elizabeth II.
And the royal information will certainly reach a wider audience, with the number of internet users world-wide now estimated at 35 million - a figure that's predicted to rise to 160 million by the Millennium.
With the Queen often accused by critics of being behind the times, royal watcher Harold Brookes-Baker said that she'd made a shrewd move in logging on to the net.
SOUNDBITE:
The closer the Queen can come to the people and the needs of the people, the more chance there is of the House of Windsor remaining. After all a republic is knocking on the door and the only way to deflect that knocking is to carry out changes that are modern enough to attract people of all ages and of all backgrounds in the United Kingdom.

Young boys overwhelmed by meeting UK Queen
(5 Dec 2018) BOY SO OVERWHELMED BY MEETING QUEEN ELIZABETH HE CRAWLS OUT OF ROOM
A young boy was so overwhelmed when meeting Britain's Queen Elizabeth II that he dropped to the floor and crawled towards the nearest exit.
The Queen was visiting Coram, the UK's oldest children's charity, in London on Wednesday (05 DEC. 2018).
Former Fame Academy judges David and Carrie Grant and their adopted son, nine-year-old Nathan, were introduced to the monarch at the centre.
Upon being introduced to the Queen, the clearly overwhelmed boy dropped down on his hands and knees and crawled towards the nearest exit, shouting bye.
She also met eight-year-old Lewis during the visit, who was adopted by a foster family exactly a year ago through TV show Finding Me A Family.
He got all shy as he asked her which of the countries she had visited she liked the most.
Later during the visit, the Queen came to the aid of a young girl, who struggled to place an ornament on a Christmas tree outside Coram.
The Queen was visiting the charity ahead of the opening of The Queen Elizabeth II Centre for children.
The centre was built to celebrate the 350th anniversary of the birth of the founder of the charity, Thomas Coram.
Based where once the The Foundling Hospital stood, Coram has been helping vulnerable children since it gained the Royal Charter in 1739.

Buckingham Palace in City of Westminster, London, England, United Kingdom
Buckingham Palace, one of London's most famous landmarks, is the official London residence of the monarch of the United Kingdom. The palace is located in the City of Westminster in the western part of Central London, on the north side of the Thames River and close to Westminster Abbey and to the Houses of Parliament.
The palace is partly surrounded by 3 big parks- the Buckingham Palace Gardens, Green Park, and St. James Park. There are at least 4 tube stations near to the palace- Hyde Park Corner, Green Park, Victoria, and St. James's Park. The stations are on the Piccadilly, Jubilee, Victoria, District, and Circle London Underground lines.
In this video, I think I'm coming from Trafalgar Square, down The Mall Road, past St. James's Park, towards Constitution Hill, Spur Road, and past the Victoria Memorial, to the front of Buckingham Palace.
London, the capital of the United Kingdom, is one of Europe's biggest cities with a population of almost 14 million in its metropolitan area. The city is considered one of the world's top tier cities in terms of size, economic and cultural influence, alongside New York City.
Central London, the historic centre of the sprawling metropolis, is home to many of the city's major attractions, and the area attracts large numbers of tourists from around the world. Many of the grandiose buildings in this part of the city date from the 18th or 19th centuries, when Great Britain was at the peak of its international power and influence. Some of the buildings in Toronto, Canada look like smaller and less grandiose imitations of the London buildings. Even though people have lived in the London area since prehistoric times, and it was the capital of both Ancient Roman Britain and medieval Anglo-Saxon and Norman England, few before the 17th century survive. This is because most of the city was burned down in the Great Fire of London in 1666. The fire gave England's rulers the chance to commission architects to rebuilt most of the city, so the buildings you see in Central London today often date from the late 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries.
Like some of Central London's other old buildings Buckingham Palace was built in the early 18th century as a townhouse for the Duke of Buckingham. King George III took over the home in 1761 and it became a private residence for Queen Charlotte. In the 19th century it was enlarged by architects John Nash and Edward Blore. The palace became the official royal London residence when Queen Victoria came to the throne in 1837.

Windsor Castle & Town of Windsor, England
It was a beautiful, sunny day when we visited the charming town of Windsor, England and the historic castle located there....Windsor Castle. The castle, which dates back to the 11th century is famous for being a residence of the royal family. While Queen Elizabeth conducts her primary duties while at Buckingham Palace in London, it is here she lives for the most part. Often, she will also conduct some of her duties while here. We were told that while we were here, she was in residence for the day, but did not have the chance to catch a glimpse of her.
As is expected, the castle is rich with history, St. George's Chapel is the place of worship that is located there. It has also held notable weddings, and is the burial place for many royals. The list of weddings and burials is to long to list here, but can be found by clicking on the following link:
When one first arrives at the castle, there is the opportunity to get a free tour of the overview of the castle before we are left on our own - our tour guide was charming, as well as funny.
The grounds of the castle are beautiful with colorful gardens. Coming for a visit here was one of the highlights of our England vacation. This included walking about the charming town of Windsor, quite a bit to see here as well, with many cafes to choose from. The old railway station has been converted into a nice shopping mall - we had arrived by bus; we took the train back to London. A wonderful day well spent.
Ed did all of the camcorder filming and narrations heard (with the exception of the voice of our tour guide). I did all of the other work of editing & uploading to You Tube.

My equipment:
Gimbal - DJI Osmo 2 Mobile, I am not very good at using it:/
LG mobile phone - a bit on its last legs and overheating at all the hard work, but just about hanging in there.
Poor image quality is a combination of an old camera phone and me being rubbish with a gimbal!
I do the immersive first-person walks with these two items.
For vlogging to camera, I use my Canon G7X Mark ii. One day I hope to buy a proper camera gimbal so as to use the Canon for the actual filming, but this will take a bit of saving up for, and then a bit of learning! Probably by then my head will have been turned by a GoPro....
