Virgin Valley Black Fire Opal
In 1987, Nevada designated the Virgin Valley black fire opal as the official state precious gemstone. The Virgin Valley, about thirty-five miles outside Denio, is the only place in North America where the black fire opal is found in any significant quantity. There are three opal mines in the area: Bonanza, Rainbow Ridge and Royal Peacock. They are open from spring to fall and allow for-fee digging.

Finding Black Opal - Royal Peacock Mine, Virgin Valley, Nevada
I got a hold of many of my old lost videos mining in the last few years, figured I'd start releasing them before they get lost again.
This video is of my First Trip to Virgin Valley Nevada First Virgin Valley Opal Trip on 5-30-13. A quick video of me extracting some opal. It was larger opal than any I had found, it was split into 3 pieces from my initial pick-axe blow, had good fire but nothing like I've what I've found since.
