Amer Fort in Jaipur, India - Full Guided Tour
A full guided tour around the Amer Fort in Jaipur India.
Amer Palace (Hindi: आमेर क़िला, also spelled and pronounced as Amber) is located in Amer (a town with an area of 4 square kilometres (1.5 sq mi), 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) from Jaipur, Rajasthan state, India. It is the principal tourist attractions in the Jaipur area, located high on a hill. Amer Fort was built by Raja Man Singh I. Amer Fort is known for its artistic style of Hindu elements. With its large ramparts, series of gates and cobbled paths, the fort overlooks the Maota Lake, at its forefront.
The aesthetic ambiance of the palace is seen within its walls on a four level layout plan (each with a courtyard) in a well turned out opulent palace complex built with red sandstone and marble consisting of the Diwan-e-Aam or the Hall of Public Audience, the Diwan-e-Khas or the Hall of Private Audience, the Sheesh Mahal (mirror palace) or Jai Mandir, and the Sukh Niwas where a cool climate is artificially created by winds that blow over the water cascade within the palace. Hence, the Amer Fort is also popularly known as the Amer Palace. The palace was lived in by the Rajput Maharajas and their families. At the entrance to the palace near the fort's Ganesh Gate, there is also a temple dedicated to Sila Devi, a goddess of the Chaitanya cult which was given to Raja Man Singh when he had defeated the Raja of Jessore, Bengal in 1604. (Jessore is now in Bangladesh).
This palace along with Jaigarh Fort, located immediately above on the Cheel ka Teela (Hill of Eagles) of the same Aravalli range of hills, is considered as one complex, as the two are well connected by a subterranean passage. This passage was meant as an escape route in times of war for the royal family members and others in the Amer Fort to shift to the more redoubtable Jaigarh Fort.[
Annual tourist visitation to the Amer Palace in Amer town was reported by the Superintendent of Department of Archaeology and Museums to the Amer Palace as 5000 visitors a day, and 1.4 million visitors were reported during 2007
The Amber Fort is a very impressive structure from the exterior, set high on a hill with a big wall around it that looks like a smaller version of the Great Wall of China.
To reach the fort you walk up a steep incline that zigzags the hillside. A number of tourists hire elephants to take them up but they look mistreated and I totally disagree with this practice.
As usual the hawkers are everywhere trying to sell cameras, batteries, postcards and crappy puppets.
Once inside, the fort is very impressive with large open courtyards and even an area with convex glass on the ceiling to reflect heat in winter.
But, to be honest it is much the same as the other forts we have been too, this is not a bad thing as to me they are some of the highlights of the trip.

सिटी पैलेस जयपुर(राजस्थान)HD| JAIPUR PALACE HD| CITY PALACE JAIPUR HD COMPLETE GUIDED TOUR IN HINDI
City palace of Jaipur (Rajasthan)

City life in the town of Udaipur.
Udaipur, known as the City of Lakes, is a city, a Municipal Corporation and the administrative headquarters of the Udaipur district in the state of Rajasthan in western India. It is located 403 kilometres southwest of the state capital, Jaipur, 576 km southwest of Alwar, 248 km west of Kota, and 250 km northeast from Ahmedabad. Udaipur is the historic capital of the kingdom of Mewar in the former Rajputana Agency. The Sisodia clan of Rajputs ruled the Mewar and its capital was shifted from Chittorgarh to Udaipur after founding city of Udaipur by Maharana Uday Singh. The Mewar province became part of Rajasthan after India became independent
Apart from its history, culture, and scenic locations, it is also known for its Rajput-era palaces. The Lake Palace, for instance, covers an entire island in the Pichola Lake. Many of the palaces have been converted into luxury hotels. It is often called the Venice of the East, and is also nicknamed the Lake City. Lake Pichola, Fateh Sagar Lake, Udai Sagar and Swaroop Sagar in this city are considered some of the most beautiful lakes in the state.

Journey to Blue City // Mandore // part 2
Why is Jodhpur called the blue city? How did dal-bati-churma originate? Do you know about a temple where people pray a bullet bike? The blue city of Jodhpur can leave you enthralled if you see it through the prism of magic. Fun and magic double up when Neel gets all the answers from Rj Raunaq aka Baua on You Got Magic.
Jodhpur, the blue city. Second largest city in Rajasthan, expect chaotic streets and beautiful views. The blue-washed buildings of old city Jodhpur with the warm red sandstone glow of Mehrangarh Fort, creates a surreal and mesmerizing experience. The views are especially brilliant at sunrise and sunset. Mehrangarh Fort is one of the largest, most well preserved forts in India.
Relaxing on the rooftops, you almost forget you're in a city. We were grateful to find our quiet little oasis at Singhvi's Haveli near the base of the fort. But as you get further away from the fort, navigating the narrow pathways and streets on foot becomes next to impossible. The combination of intense noise, constant honking, motorbikes, auto rickshaws, cars, cows, dogs, elephants, and burrows on the tiny streets doesn't leave much room for pedestrians. So while the old city would be ideal for walking, do be careful and if going further than 1k, consider going by auto rickshaw, as it will be safer.]
Mandore is an ancient town, and was the seat of the Pratiharas of Mandavyapura, who ruled the region in the 6th century CE. The rulers of this dynasty probably became vassals of the imperial Gurjara-Pratiharas.[1] After the disintegration of the Gurjara-Pratihara empire, one branch of Pratiharas continued to rule at Mandore. In 1395 CE, a princess of this branch married Rao Chunda of Rathore clan. Rao Chunda received the Junagarh fort in Mandore in dowry, and moved his capital to the site. The town remained the Rathore capital until 1459 CE, when Rao Jodha shifted his capital to the newly founded city of Jodhpur.[2]
