BARCELONA WALK | Rambla de Mar - the Wooden Walkway at Port Vell | Spain
A first-person perspective Barcelona walk tour of the areas of Rambla de Mar.
Experience all of the sights and sounds as Watched Walker (yes, I’m talking about myself in the third person) takes us on a walking tour through the streets of Barcelona, featuring Rambla de Mar at Port Vell, which is a wavy wooden walkway over water. The tour begins on Moll de les Drassanes looking towards the Columbus Statue, then moves onto and along the Rambla de Mar walkway, ending on Moll d’Espanya by the Maremagnum Shopping & Dining Centre.
Sights seen along the tour include Rambla de Mar, Port Vell, Columbus Statue, Barcelona Naval Tours boat, Hotel W Barcelona, cable cars, yachts in harbour, Balearia+ ship, ‘Miraestels’ (Stargazers) sculptures by Robert Llimósand, and the Maremagnum Shopping & Dining Centre.
And in each video I've hidden a blinking eye, can you spot it? (It could appear more than once). In addition to the blinking eye, I've also added the Watched Walker logo to various scenes–it could be on buildings, vehicles or any other objects, so keep an eye out for it too!
Footage recorded June 2017.

The Rambla de Mar is a walkway over the water, the natural continuation of the Ramblas in Barcelona. Designed in 1994 by the architects Albert Viaplana and Helio Piñón, its modern architecture and minimalist form are the most emblematic image of Port Vell.
It is an undulating wooden walkway, with two openings, supported over the water by two iron arms. Every hour on the dot it opens to allow recreational boats to pass through. Watching its sophisticated mechanisms in motion is a real spectacle worth seeing.
The Rambla del Mar is a wooden walkway connecting the Portal de la Pau at the bottom of La Rambla with the Moll d’Espanya, which is home to the Maremagnum leisure and shopping complex, the Imax cinema and the sailing clubs. The Rambla opened in 1994 and is the continuation of the main Rambla across the harbour. The walkway is at the edge of a navigable dock and can be raised to allow boats through. Its highly original design features timber planking and curved forms reminiscent of the style of the “modernista” architect Jujol, and curved pergolas which act as supports for the lighting. The project was designed by Helio Piñón and Albert Viaplana, who also created the Maremagnum building.
This curious walkway connects the busy Rambla with the new leisure area in Barcelona’s old harbour, or Port Vell, known as the Moll d’Espanya. When you are standing on this quayside area you feel as if you are on an observation deck overlooking the sea: due to the breeze, the smell and the motion of the semi-captive waves. The site features three outstanding leisure facilities: the Imax cinema, with its flat screen that is seven storeys high and a 900m2 dome that surrounds the audience; L’Aquarium, with its 80 metre-long glass tunnel where you can watch sharks and other Mediterranean fish swim above your head; and the Maremagnum, a shopping centre with a wide variety of shops and restaurants.
Another important aspect of the quayside are the sailing clubs, such as the Reial Club Nàutic and the Reial Club Marítim, which are firmly rooted in the city due to people’s great love of sailing.
La Rambla de Mar is a Rambla de Barcelona in the Ciutat Vella district . It is a gateway that connects the Plaza del Portal de la Paz with the Moll d'Espanya. The natural extension of the Rambla is considered . From the Ciutat Vella council there is a project to turn the axis that goes from the Morrot to the Ciutadella Park in a new ramblas to decongest the Rambla .

Barcelona- Part 1/4 (RAMBLA DEL MAR & GOTHIC QUARTER)
Brian travels to the Catalan capital a year and half after the failed referendum and the La Rambla terror attacks, to witness how both events, as well as Muslim immigration have changed the city's atmosphere and culture. Brian opts to skip the major tourist sites and explore the city entirely on foot, in order to get a true sense of Barcelona life.
Brian arrives in the city after an exhausting flight. Unable to be booked into his hotel, he starts his exploration of the city sooner than planned. He first explores the city's marina and Rambla del Mar, where he grabs a bite to eat, before setting off for the city's Gothic Quarter.
